The Blacksmith Small but functional, the blacksmith of Black Rock serves the needs of its citizens as well as those in surrounding areas. Like the rest of Black Rock, the smithy hasn't changed, passed on from generation to generation, and occasionally some ghosts drop in to have a visit or criticize the work of the current smith, Markus Banks. The walls are lined with recent work, some in various states of creation. Completed items are usually displayed next to the smithy, where Markus' wife, Alysha, looks after the sale of finished goods. Markus generally makes tools, trade goods and items, but does his share of armor and weapons - often purchased by Myrian traders or visitors. The basics are in stock. For prices, see the Price Lists. The Bankses prefer to trade in the local currency, Ashl, but will accept mizas, bikka, or the Charodaen shells, and Alysha will adjust the prices accordingly. The NPCs Secret : Markus Banks: Blacksmith Having recently inherited the smithy from his father, Markus runs it with his wife, Alysha, with whom he has two young sons. While some may look down on his dark and slightly scruffy appearance, Markus is good at what he does. He often argues with his retired father as he works. The old man enjoys lingering around the smithy and making good-natured barbs and comments about this piece or that. His grandfather occasionally joins in to complain or increase the arguing, whichever suits the departed man's fancy. Alysha Banks: Markus' Wife A non-native member of the Black Rock community, the flame-haired Alysha hails from up north, from Syliras. A devotee of Dira, she elected to visit Black Rock, and while there, fell in love with the place. She returned home to get her belongings, and soon took up with Markus. They have two sons, James and Lucas. She has a sharp head for numbers and business, so she manages that side of it while Markus tends to the Smithy. Tomas Banks: Markus' Grandfather Tomas is Markus' deceased grandfather who still lingers while he waits for his wife, Fabala. Content to look on and make sure that the family is doing well, Tomas can occasionally be found in the smithy overseeing his grandson's work. A smith in his own time, he taught his son, Nikolai (Markus' father) the trade, and still banters at him if he catches him in the forge watching or helping Markus.
