Laria Sunstorm
ImageAlias: Laria, Lari
Titles: Of the Amethyst Clan
Race: Human, Drykas
Sex: Female
Date of Birth: 27 Fall 493 AV
Age: 22
Height: 5'6"

Profession: Teacher (Riding/Horsemanship)
Housing: Family Pavilion
Languages: Pavi - Fluent, Common - Conversational

Deitys: Zulrav, Semele, Caiya, Priskil.

Physical Appearance:
Laria is neither tall nor short, standing at just over 5'6". She has a slender build, but there is definite muscle beneath her lightly tanned skin. Her eyes are a bright piercing blue, and her emotions show clearly in them. Her hair is long and golden, falling in silky waves. She braids hidden sections and ties tiny charms or purple beads into them. When worn up, her hair is twisted into an intricate pattern of knots. Laria always wears a single black wrap in her hair. Her clothing usually consists of purple hued leggings and a floaty white tunic complete with a knot-work pattern. Around her waist she wears a white sash with beautiful, intricate purple knot-work embroidered onto it to represent her clan.

Laria has two tattoos at present. The first is on her left hip, and is a small feather. She got the tattoo with her then, best friend, Bolden Denusk as part of a pair.
Her second tattoo is her windmarks. Laria earned her first windmarks on the 52nd of Summer 511AV when she bonded with her Strider. Her windmarks are on her upper back, stretching from shoulder to shoulder and running down her spine a little way. The windmarks vaguely represent a bird.

Personality:
Laria is usually a friendly and honest person, although it does take a lot of persuading to get her to reveal her inner feelings. She does not like to be proven wrong, and if she is some stubborn silence will ensue! She generally hates being cooped up in the pavilion, always preferring to be outside no matter the weather. If she has to be confined inside for any period of time, Laria will most likely become quieter and very easily irritated. However as soon as she is back outside, her usual bubbly nature returns. She is at her happiest when in the presence of horses, or with her closest friends.

Laria’s faith is very strong. She believes firmly in Zulrav, seeing him as a guide and a guardian, praying to him more than any other deity. She holds Semele and Caiya in high regard, like most Drykas, and Priskil also holds a special place within her.

History:
Laria was born on the 27th day of Fall, 493AV to Denar and Nina Sunstorm.
She had a happy childhood. Her days among the people of the Amethyst Clan were filled with horses and people alike, and she had a good number of friends. Her two older brothers taught her about horses and navigation when their parents were busy, and the three shared a strong bond.

Her brothers both earned their windmarks when she was still young. Her eldest brother Terris, bonded with his Strider when Laria was just 3 years old. She was too young to understand the momentous occasion, and she just thought that a new horse had joined the many her father had for breeding. Her second brother Mick earned his marks when she was 10. This time, she could understand the bonds significance, and she she could see how her brother changed. She dreamed of the day she would find a Strider of her own.

When Laria was 12 years old, she found a severely wounded boy when she was out gathering herbs. The boy was Bolden Denusk. She took him back to her family pavilion where he received medical care, though his memory was lost. As a result, Bolden stayed with Laria and her family and the pair became inseparable.

The years wore on, and by the time she was 15, most of her friends had found their Striders. Only a few were left yearning for the bond, Laria included. In time, the others without Striders either distanced themselves or eventually bonded. Yet still the horse that would be hers was elusive. Her friends would often go out on short rides with their Striders. They invited Laria with them, and she would take a steed from her fathers stock. But it was not the same, and after a couple of rides, she began to decline their offers, and they eventually stopped asking.

She threw herself into work at the Pavilion. She memorised the entire studbook, learned to read horses for traits and breeding signs. She was taught how to birth and rear foals, and to check the horses over for maladies. In time, she had become a promising horsewoman, and she was invaluable to her fathers business. But it still failed to fill the hole that would be her own Strider.

Her father was disappointed. That she knew, even though he tried not to show it. As members of the Amethyst Clan, they were looked upon as master horsemen, and Denar could not help but feel that Laria should have bonded by her adulthood. He understood that it could sometimes take a long time for it to happen, but all the same he could not control how he felt. Laria's older brother too shared the opinion, and he was much more honest that their father. He would often tease her with jibes that hurt Laria. Mick was more sympathetic, and tried to console her, but it rarely worked.

During the Summer of 511, Bolden returned to the Sapphire clans after regaining some memories.
Not long afterward, the pair ran into each other again and old feelings resurfaced and grew into something more. They became more than friends at long last.
During the Djed storm of 511, Bolden went missing and is now assumed dead. Laria was inconsolable for a very long time afterwards. She struggled for a long time to move on, and still occasionally has her sad days.

Also in the Summer of 511, Laria bonded with her first Strider, Citali.
She found the golden-brown mare after following what she thought was an injured man, and ending up at a ruined tent. The horse was there protecting its gravely injured owner. Laria took the Strider and the injured woman to a healer, where the woman died of her wounds. Afterward, the Strider wouldn't leave Laria alone, and the pair bonded.

Near the end of the year 511 Laria became very ill, to the point where she was bed-bound for a long time. Almost an entire year passed this way, and the young Drykas thought it would never end. She began to recover mid-Winter of 512, and when Endrykas next passed near Riverfall, Laria was taken there to finish her recovery. Now, on the cusp of Fall in the year 515, the Drykas is fully recovered and rested, ready to take back her life among her kin.
