My Shopping

[OCC: There are no shops in Zeltiva, and I wish to shop, so I'm going this route, which is buy the equipment at a generic shop. Let me know if it should be done differently.]

66th day of Summer, 511 AV

Nathan walked through the dusty aisles of the small shop, looking over the different wares. The cotton shirt and breeches he wore were scratchy, but he ignored it for the time being. The hilt of his assassin dagger felt good in his hands, but he didn't dare pull it out. His teacher taught him on day one that the use of daggers requires surprise. Oh how the young man missed his father.

After his idle glances at things he had no desire for, Nathan walked up to the small table that held the items he had come here for. On the table were several daggers, ranging from the tiny ribbon daggers, to the sap daggers. Wasting no time, Nathan grabbed two plain daggers, and two ribbon daggers, opting for the forest green ribbons instead of the flashier colors. He quickly strode up to the counter, pulling out his coin pouch.

The clerk looked over his choice of merchandise, but didn't let off any personal feeling about the weapons. He was getting paid, so he kept his opinion to himself. "Six gold mizas." Nathan counted out the money, choosing the darker colored coins. He enjoyed looking over the bright reds and yellows in his spare time, and the darker colors just weren't as entertaining.

With that, the young man stepped out of the shop, and began to situate his new additions. He slid the two plain daggers inside his riding boots, while the ribbon daggers were placed on his belt, hidden by the bottom of his shirt. The green ribbons hung down to his knees, and his assassin's dagger rested in its holster on his left thigh. Picking a random direction, the man set off, enjoying the nice day.

87th day of Summer, 511 AV

The cold steel on his ankle was all that was on his mind as he looked over clothes. Just a few days ago, he signed up on a voyage to Denval, a city that Nathan had never heard of. But this meant the teenager, only nineteen, was going to visit both Mura and Avanthal. Not something many boys fresh out of his mother’s home can say, but he wasn’t apart of that many. He rubbed the gnosis of Kelwyn on his shoulder, a silent praise going up. Now he had to spend some coin for clothes on the trip.

Already in his arms were eight linen, white shirts, half with sleeves, and half without. But he didn’t want to have just white clothing, so he moved onward to the doublets. Checking the rough scrawled signs in front of the different piles, he pulled out a dark blue and earth brown doublet in his size. The brown doublet would go good when he was working, while the blue doublet, the color of sapphires, was something a up and coming merchant would wear. Even it was only cotton.

On a table beside the vests were pants and cloaks. Again, looking for his size, he added two black and two brown pairs of breeches, along with a cloak that was the same shade of brown as his doublet. Carrying the pile to the clerk, he set the pile down, holding up one finger signaling that he wasn’t finished. Walking to the back of the store, he picked out his size of low boots. His riding boots were nice, but when he didn’t have a horse, they were out of place. Holding the boots in one hand, Nathan walked back to the clerk, when something pure white drew his eye. On a table in the corner, a white robe was folded. Lifting it up, he noticed the abundance of pockets, big enough to hold his daggers. Worth the buy for sure.
With the boots and robe, he finally walked up to the clerk. “Would you like a rucksack to carry this in? Only one gold miza more.” Nathan scratched his hairless chin, before nodding. The clerk pulled out a hard leather bag, which seemed to work as a belt, with a large compartment on the back. He noticed that it could fit under his backpack, adding to its personal value for Nathan.

Counting out ten mizas, a substantial amount until Nathan started drawing income, stuffed as much as he could into the rucksack, and head out. Within days he would be on the ship away from Zeltiva. Soon, he was going to put his name up with all of the merchants. If it meant starting in a small settlement, so be it.
