General Information:

Race: Pycon
Birthday & Age: 31st of Summer 509 AV (2 years old)
Gender: Female

Physical Description:

Piccolo, being a Pycon, is very small in stature standing at only 6”. She does not despise her height; in fact, she quite enjoys having the ability to be overlooked by those who are taller than herself. Being short definitely has its advantages, and has saved her life on more than a few occasions. Due to her small height, Piccolo weighs in at only 5 lbs. Although this gives her all the advantages of being light, it makes it rather difficult for her to lift large or heavy objects. Piccolo, taking largely after her mother, is made entirely of a light grey shade of clay that sometimes appears to have tan coloured undertones. She has experimented with a few forms throughout the short life that she has lived so far, and continues to experiment with a variety of forms in the present. The form that she is most comfortable with in present is the figure of a human girl. Although animal forms can be entertaining, she has always felt more comfortable in a humanoid form. In this particular form, Piccolo has a heart shaped face with the carefully sculpted facial features of a young girl. Her clay hair is the same shade of grey as her skin, and falls to shoulder length. For modesty purposes, Piccolo wears a simple dress as part of her form. She does not enjoy wearing external materials such as jewellery or cloth, simply because it is more practical to create them herself out of clay. Barefoot and slim, if Piccolo was a human she might even be mistaken for a street child.

Character Concept:

Piccolo is a very adventurous young Pycon. She loves to explore new areas and try new things. One might say she is quite a risk taker, always jumping at opportunities when they pronounce themselves. She loves meeting new people, and despises being left on her own. However, crowds do not particularly appeal to her due to the larger chance of being stepped on. Piccolo often judges people on first impressions and she finds that she can come to trust people very easily. Too easily, in fact. Piccolo is a Pycon with a great deal of pride for the things she loves and treasures, which often leads to her acting quite rashly when something or someone she loves is in danger. She is very loyal to these people and believes that she would never betray these people even in the face of death.

Piccolo enjoys being around others, and cooperates well in group circumstances. She would prefer to work in a group rather than alone. Piccolo does not respond well to criticism, taking it as more of insult than suggestion for improvement. She prefers to do things via her own method, even if it is more difficult, rather than using the generic way. Piccolo, being fairly unorganised, prefers to ‘go with the flow’ and take experiences as they come. She is easily distracted by outside influences and therefore, finds it difficult to focus on one thing at once. Piccolo often finds that she makes her decisions and choices based on her emotions rather than logic, as her emotions are her first reaction to a situation.

Piccolo prefers to avoid conflict, but when faced with an unavoidable situation she will react with a fierceness that may seem out of character. She would find it rather difficult to stand back and take a hit instead of retaliating in some way. Piccolo is quite an emotive person, but finds it very difficult to express her emotions or comfort others who are feeling unhappy. She would rather sit close by and offer her presence rather than her words. Piccolo can be sensitive at times, but she does not display this readily. Often when feeling sad or depressed, she will bottle up her emotions inside and will not turn to others for help. She would rather deal with her inside turmoil herself than burden others with her feelings. Piccolo is sure of herself in areas where her skills lie and loves to showcase this when inquired about it. Piccolo is not prone to doubt, and will make firm decisions, whether they be right or wrong.

Piccolo does not enjoy being in a position of power, or being a leader as such. She would much rather remain a follower than command others. Piccolo very much enjoys listening to stories, and is very jealous of those with skill in the art of storytelling. Piccolo is actually quite playful when given the opportunity, but portrays a serious demeanour to those who have not yet made her acquaintance. She is in no way manipulative, being quite terrible at persuasion. Piccolo prefers to travel light, with little more with than her py-whip and a manageable amount of clay. Being a Pycon, these are the only items that she needs in life. She is more of an optimist than a pessimist, looking at the glass as half-full rather than half-empty. In relation to authority, Piccolo does not obey without question, nor challenge for the sake of challenging. Instead, Piccolo trusts her moral compass to guide her through times of choice. Piccolo will readily help those in need, even if it does not directly benefit herself. She is open to change, and actively seeks it out each day through her adventures. Tiring of things fairly quickly, Piccolo wishes to absorb as much of a variety of information as possible.

Piccolo is not perceived as a secretive person, but hidden in her depths she has darker secrets that she does not wish to share with anyone beyond herself.

Piccolo’s ultimate goal in life is to obtain her true form, but she does not think of this as something worrisome and worth fretting over. She would prefer to live life as it comes and enjoy the adventures it presents. Although Piccolo is faithful towards her god, Harameus, she does not actively worship him. Piccolo however, is a more devoted follower of the animal gods and goddesses. She will quite often send a prayer out to Caiya, goddess of flora, fauna and wilderness, or Eywaat, otherwise known as the prince of birds. Rak'keli is another deity that she turns to when in need of healing. Being so intrigued by herbalism, healing and animals, it is only natural that Piccolo turn to these entities for guidance.

Character History:

Piccolo was born on the 31st of Summer 510 AV to a loving Pycon mother and an adventurous father. The temporary name given to her, Piccolo, means ‘little one’ and was given to her by her mother when she was a few days old. Her mother remained at the Pyve to care for her during her infant years, whilst her father decided to keep exploring what the world had in store for him. Piccolo’s mother recited the tales of her father’s tales, telling his stories of battle, escape and stories of the unique and amazing people he met along the way. Piccolo admired his strong, free spirit, and longed to grow up and experience the events that he had experienced. Her mother, on the other hand, preferred to settle in places for a little longer than her father. She was not a Pycon who wished to explore the world and test her limits. Her mother preferred to take things a little slower than the others of her kind, and remain in one place for long periods of time. This caused her to develop long lasting friendships and bonds with people from certain places, instead of flitting around the world seeking thrills and rushing into danger. She taught Piccolo the value of all living things, and how to care for them when they were hurt. Piccolo's mother taught her the value of knowing which herbs were used for healing, and which herbs would poison. This came in handy often when dealing with a sick or injured animal, sometimes being the difference between life and death.

Piccolo grew up with a passion for birds. This passion grew mainly from her admiration of her mother, who was skilled in animal husbandry. Piccolo's mother was a very practical Pycon, yet she opened up her heart to animals more than she opened her heart to her fellow Pycon. Although Piccolo's mother's skill lay with animals in general, Piccolo had a soft spot for animals with feathers. As a child, she was always actively seeking out song birds to sneak up on or helping her mother when they happened upon a sick or injured bird. But as Piccolo grew a little older, she began to take an interest in predatory birds; more often known as birds of prey. Although she had limited experience in training these birds, Piccolo loved to be in their presence. She hoped that one day she would break through their cold exterior and reveal that they were indeed capable of forming a bond.

When growing up in the Pyve, Piccolo would constantly feel a tingling in her spine, an anxiety and excitement that grew in her each day as she dreamed of setting foot out into the wide open world of Mizahar. She had decided long ago that when her second birthday hit, she would leave the life she had known behind in search for her own life. She longed to experience the adventures that the elders talked about, yet she could not help but feel a little fearful for what lay in store. What if the world had run out of adventures? Maybe it had given all the good experiences to those before her, and she would be given nothing. Nevertheless, she had to discover this for herself.

When the time came for her departure, Piccolo’s mother and the other members of the Pyve gifted her with a traditional weapon and tool that was renowned for its practicality in tight situations. A weapon that her father once held in his very hands. A weapon that he and his grandfather before him had used countless times in both defence and attack. The py-whip. She had learnt the basics of how to use the py-whip during her time in the Pyve, but had never dreamed that she would actually be gifted one of her very own. They were extremely useful in a world where everything is so much larger in comparison to the small Pycon race. The whip could easily be coiled around a high bar or pole so that the smaller Pycon could swing herself up to higher ground. If in danger, the whip could just as easily coil around a limb rather than a pole, bringing the larger race down to eye level. Piccolo dreamed of one day being able to perform such feats, but for now she would have to be content with merely dreaming.

Her mother had pulled Piccolo aside as she was preparing to leave, wishing to give her one final piece of advice. She told her that setting out alone would not be as wise as an idea as it appeared. Although the others told their stories of fighting the dangers off with their bare hands and finding impossible ways to escape situations, Piccolo’s mother knew better. Piccolo would need a companion to travel with her as she began her journey, somebody who could protect her from the dangers of the wild. She advised her to find an animal companion. Her mother persuaded her to stay just one more week in wait of the trader's caravans, reassuring her that it would be worth it.

Piccolo’s particular Pyve had a tradition of organizing a week in both autumn and spring in which they would travel out to the well-worn road to meet the traders as they did their rounds each year. The Pycon would bring their goods to sell, whilst being able to buy the items that the traders had for sale. It was just as well that it was trader’s week the following week; otherwise Piccolo would not have had the patience to delay the beginning of her adventure. When the traders arrived, Piccolo was eager to take her mother's words to heed and choose an animal companion. Piccolo discovered that it was quite common for a Pycon to have an animal companion, and loving animals so much she was surprised that she had not thought of the idea herself.

There were many animals for sale in the animal carts. Horses, ferrets, cats, messenger pigeons and pigs could all be bought for a reasonable price. There was even a hunting dog that was irritably pulling at the metal chain that kept it from bounding to freedom. However, she only had eyes for the eagle. It was beautiful, really. She had always adored birds, especially the predatory birds. The way their eyes glittered with an intelligence that could not be paralleled by the smaller of their kind. Their everlasting love for the air and desire to ride the wind. Piccolo's mother in fact, had raised a few larger birds in her time, and Piccolo was around enough to learn quite a large deal of information. However, it was sheer luck that the eagle was already trained proficiently, being purchased straight from a professional falconer in Wind Reach. The trader informed her that it was a skilled hunter and loyal companion, therefore well worth the price of 100 gold mizas. Although skeptical as to the price, Piccolo purchased the bird on a whim. As an afterthought before she left, the trader chuckled to himself and added that she could hardly carry the eagle on her arm as was the traditional method, she was so small that she would have to reverse roles. Fly? On an eagle? Impossible! Pycon's did not fly. If Pycons were born to fly, they would have been made with feathered wings. But the thought clung in her mind, growing stronger with every moment. Why not? It would be certainly be dangerous. But alas, she was a Pycon. Risk-taking was what what she lived and breathed. However, she would at least need something secure to hold on to if she did decide to fly.

As a parting gesture to Piccolo, her mother had requested a small, leather saddle to be made that would provide a little extra grip if she did indeed fly on the eagle. This was made in a matter of days by the Pycon leatherworker for a small price. Saying her final farewells, Piccolo set off into the outside world without so much as glancing back.
