Basic Information

Race: Dhani (Constrictor)
Birthday & Age : 407 AV (103 years old)
Gender: Male

Physical Description

In human form, Ashivirsthargon (or just Sthargon, for short) is 6'3" and weighs roughly 260 lbs. Curly, dark hair tops an angular face that could have been carved from stone, and the deep set grey eyes do nothing to detract from this impression. He carries a stocky, muscular build with a degree of fluidity.

In Dhani form, Sthargon is a 21 foot monster covered in a green-grey motley of scales. Baleful amber eyes glower of a maw of ample teeth, but most fearsome is the heavy, serpentine body that trails behind his humanoid torso.

In snake form, Sthargon just caps 40 feet in length.

Character Concept

Some would call Sthargon treacherous. Some would call him a pragmatist. Some would call him a survivalist. However you frame it, Sthargon seems loyal to no one but himself. He is a warrior through and through, relishing the joy and competition of unarmed combat even more than the blade, but he will do whatever it takes to win - or at least live to fight another day. It is even rumored that he has some level of dealings with some of the shadier elements of neighboring Myrian tribes, although this has yet to be proven. His approach to life causes him to be distrusted by allies, but his service in defending the sanctity of Zinrah cannot be denied.

Because of this, the few friends Sthargon has are Dhani who have just learned to live with him and are somewhat similar, themselves. He primarily remains in adequate standing in the nest because most in Zinrah feel they are safer with him around than without him. You can be sure, however, that if Sthargon were in need of personal aid, no one would offer it to him - unless a sufficient price were involved. He seems almost incapable of valuing anything beyond his own hide, and this can sometimes produce a sort of self-interested cowardice if defeat is certain.

Sthargon is passionate about two things: destroying and oppressing those weaker than himself, and Siku. He never misses a ritual to Her honor, although his particular form of devotion seems to involve walking a fine line between furthering Her interests and subtly betraying them from time to time. It is his belief that Siku could not fully respect a mortal who was incapable of subverting even the things he holds most dear, but he is always careful that such gestures do no serious harm to Her causes so as to keep in Her overall good graces.

Sthargon is a deep believer in the superiority of the Dhani race, and he views Myrians as barbaric rabble upstarts trying to force out those who should rightly be their masters.

Character History

Sthargon was born to father Hessthandeneith and mother Ildrissashivir. His father, also a warrior, returned from a ranging trip to Owehlai Falls marked with the Gnostic disfavor of Makutsi. He would not comment except to say that he had seen something he ought not to have seen, and he gradually became torpid and died of dehyrdation over several months. Sthargon was 96.

His mother yet lives, although the passage of time has not been entirely kind to her. She is cronelike and is prone to ramblings that seem to be some kind of blend of oracular and senile. She continues to serve as a priestess of Siku, and she and her son get along about as well as can be expected given their society and circumstances.

Sthargon once had a younger brother, Hesse, who also took up the family tradition of becoming a warrior. However, he had no feel for combat, slow reflexes, and no sense of timing or tactics. Other Dhani warriors began to speculate if being a warrior short was better than having Hesse with them on a raid.

Things came to a head when a team of Myrian scouts incapacitated Hesse who was on watch near a side, surface tunnel on the outskirts of Zinrah. The scouts made their way several miles into the tunnel before they were killed by the Dhani guarding the other end.

Humiliated and penitent, Hesse asked Sthargon to make a true warrior of him, no matter what the cost. Sthargon agreed and, that night, took Hesse out of Zinrah and into the jungle to train with him.

In the morning, only Sthargon returned, telling the inquisitive that they had been ambushed by Myrian rangers who slew Hesse. His body, said Sthargon, had been offered up to Siku. No one seemed inclined to question the story, further, such as asking how Sthargon bore no wounds or how he ended up with a bag of Myrian money. Sthargon insisted that the nest was safer, now, and most could not help but agree, whatever they may have thought of Sthargon, personally. Sthargon was 87.

From that point forward, Sthargon began to acquire a reputation as someone who could not be fully trusted and who skated on the edge of what even Dhani society would tolerate, but no notable crime could ever be proven against him.

After the incident with Hesse, Sthargon took a serious interest in the worship of Siku - a tradition he continues to this day.

His mother never produced a female, to the shame of their family.

The scimitar Sthargon carries belonged to his father and to his father's father before him. He is not anywhere near the swordsman his father was and seems ambivalent about mastering the weapon.
