She does have many perfecly lucid days as well as bad ones.   Appearance Alyeah is much taller than most of the other young women in Wind Reach. At 5'8", with her heavy katinu on, hood up, sometimes she's mistaken for a man. Her dull copper hair rarely sees the sun. By day, she keeps her wild mane twisted up under one of her homemade scarves, since bathing is mostly off limits to her. At night, she takes her hair down and uses the long scarf as a makeshift blanket to keep herself warm in the alley where she sleeps. The black, loose fitting, lontev Deks are assigned to wear, makes her slender frame seem bulkier than it is. Alyeah often goes without eating because her intense workload forces her to miss meals. Sometimes the only food she gets is what she can scrape off plates she washes after meal service. She’s gotten used to the yawning emptiness in her gut. As the plain twin, Alyeah has gotten through less of her life being noticed by men than her sister, which has kept her abuses to a minimum. What feminine traits she has left are easily hidden by binding her chest with scarves and wearing a katinu that’s two sizes bigger. Between work and her duties to her sister, she never goes outside, except to collect plants and herbs. Whenever she does, she wears the men’s boots she stole from the last Endal male who swallowed one of her poisons. The Inner Workings   Personality Alyeah's living alone in the caverns of the Inner Warren, struggling with being bi-polar. In her warped version of the truth, she has to practice her novice glassworking skills in secret so that no one will question her caste. What she doesn't realize is that she's not fit to be anything but Dek because her own mental issues are worse than she thinks. To deal with her worsening mental state, she's started taking Apple Sauce to help with her wild mood swings, but she's becoming addicted to the it and doing increasingly stupid things to get it, like dressing as a male Rider and sneaking around the underground forest. She doesn't care about her other sisters, or her mother, or her sperm donor father. Her twin sister is the only one who she cares about. But it's a twisted sense of caring, not actually related to them being sisters. Rai is a child trapped in a woman's body, so Alyeah, who clings to the idea of castes as one of her only comforts, believes Rai is above being Dek and doesn't deserve her abuse. She's also repulsed by the idea that any man would use her sister's body, knowing that she's a child on the inside. She's obsessed with the abuse heaped on her sister because Alyeah is unable to process the horrific things that have happened to her. She turns her head to them like she's supposed to. Unable to focus on her own abuses, past and current, she focuses unhealthily on her sister's instead. During the terrible things she's forced to endure, she's a blank slate, but when confronted with her sister's abuse, she overloades, unable to handle it and has a panic attack. Unworthy of being trained even as a novice with a blade, Alyeah has been forced to resort to poisons to protect herself, but even that fails her because she would never hurt someone of a higher caste. She believes in the system and anyone above her who would hurt her, is in their right to do it.
