Physical Description
The man in the periwinkle coat was never the sort to leave his face shown for too long. However, if one were to notice this dark-skinned Benshiran, it would lead them to immediately ask themselves why they hadn't done so sooner. Standing at a solid six feet and sculpted into an athletic form, it's a wonder how such a man can seem to meld so easily into a crowd.

Although most of his form is well-concealed underneath his coat, a number of clear oddities become almost immediately evident about him. First off, a large katar--unusually bulky at the knuckles, shelters his right hand, the true length of the weapon's grip unknown as it disappears into the folds of his tattered coat sleeve. He is as typical as a Benshiran can be--dark skin, pale blue eyes, and a head of light brown, almost auburn hair. However, upon close inspection, what is visible of the man's body--whether it be a stretching of the fabric around his chest to reveal a bit of forearm, the contour of a neck and face underneath a hood blocking the intense sun--all of these slight visibilities would immediately show that the man was heavily marred in a number of scars. Was he attacked? Punishment for crimes past? The answer--and the curiosity of most that wonder it upon seeing him, disappear as quickly as he tended to in the bustle of a market square.

Character Concept

Personality- It's difficult to get a glimmer of understanding as to the inner workings of Ra'id. In truth, with the impersonal nature of his speech, it would lead one to wonder if the man had any thoughts of his own. Certainly if he did, he didn't typically share them vocally. Indeed, if any thoughts ever passed through this man, it was into his personal diary; a simple , weathered looking tome bound in black leathers.

If anything was certain about the man, it's that one was never sure as to what he meant with his words. Terse, but cryptic, he was easy enough to understand on the surface, but the way he worded his phrases could lead one to wonder if there was a deeper meaning to most of the things he said. If anything, it is the only inclination that the man owns a personality at all.

Ethics - As difficult as it is to gauge Ra'id's ethics, it would be clear to assume after interacting with him even once would show that the man had a deeply-embedded sense of justice. Cryptic as he is, he is brutally honest, and appreciates straightforwardness when dealing with others. While untrustworthy of those around him, Ra'id simultaneously possesses a great respect to those that show loyalty--even in his enemies.

Likes - Given Ra'id's appearance, one would assume that he is fond of melee combat--whether its for sport or more vicious means remains a mystery. However, one thing that doubtlessly has a place in the man's heart is his writing. Whatever secrets the man has--his thoughts, his dreams, his past--are all kept safely in his journal. So, perhaps in relation, Ra'id could appreciate other forms of expression--whether it be dance, singing, or traditional art. He never voices such appreciations, but his rapt attention is usually enough of a signifier.

Dislikes - If it's one thing Ra'id does well, its keeping what bothers him to himself. Knowing what twists you the wrong way is a powerful tool to use against your enemies, and given Ra'id's secrecy, he doubtlessly has enough of them.

Character History

Pre-Creation - Little is known of Ra'id's past. Given that all that most know is his name, all that can be said for sure is that he has his origins from the line of Aysaw. He is treated with relative indifference within the city of Yahebah. Contrary to Benshiran custom, Ra'id's immedate family is unknown. The man in the periwinkle coat could very well be married, have siblings, living parents, or even children--but if he has a home, he does not return to it under the watch of others.

Despite this, Ra'id still receives the typical hospitality common of his people, albeit it is a kindness given with a measure of trepidation. Many assume the man is a simple mercenary born out of slavery. The origin of his gruesome scars is a common matter of debate among the children of the city that see his tall form move about wordlessly from one area to the next--seemingly without purpose. Whatever business he attends to in the city or what he's waiting for is known as well as his past, but given that the man stays out of trouble, he avoids any sort of lasting attention from others.

Equipment and Possessions
Pair of sandals made from a mix of goat leathers and local leaves.
Traditional ankle-length tunic which has lost much of its red color over the years. Kept in place with a number of leather straps crossing over the torso.
A thin, but long coat that covers the whole of one's form, including a low-hanging hood. Its color is the pale azure of periwinkle, but whether or not it was the coat's original color remains a mystery. Like the tunic, it is held close to one's form with three leather straps--two over the shoulderblades and one across the back.

1 Backpack which contains:
1 Set of Toiletries (comb, brush, razor, soap)
Food for a week
1 eating knife
Flint & Steel

Heirloom:

A long, ornately decorated Katar. The triple-edged fist weapon, while beautiful, looks oblong and was likely meant more for aesthetic purposes than traditional combat. However, time with its new owner has shown the weapon has fallen into relative disrepair, a shadow of its former grace.
