Basic Information

Race: Ghost
Birthday & Age: Summer, 477 AV (34 years old)
Deathday: Fall, 507 AV
Gender: Male

Physical Description

Auldwin was an unremarkable fellow during his living days, and even as a ghostly wanderer he still appears much in the same way. Originally a Human, Auldwin stood five feet ten inches tall and had a medium build. While not herculean in size his constant work in unskilled labor kept him reasonably trim. Dark brown hair held a consistent length coming down to his shoulders, with matching dark brown eyes, bushy eyebrows, and a scruffy mustache and beard upon his lip and chin. The clothes he wore in death are the same he wears today. A dark jacket, breeches, and scarf atop a olive green shift with worn brown boots. His visage is moderately distorted and blurred however, due to his low abilities in materialization.

Character Concept

Auldwin was, by all standards, a common and unremarkable man. He was average in every way, with no defining qualities. He stood at an average height, held an average weight, and even married an average woman. His days were spent working so they could afford the various niceties of life, such as food and shelter. As a Human, Auldwin had very little drive and no true desire to define himself outside of simply existing.

Though the method of his death is consistent with the typical Ghost (filled with plenty of horror and agony) he ironically is better at being a Ghost than he was at being a man. Though he would have never admit it, it is very possible that with his death he finally began to understand just how rare and precious life is. He looks back at the things he never did, and the various treasured memories he never got to have, and this regret gives him impressive willpower and conviction as a Ghost.

His goals and purposes may not always be easily defined, honorable, or noble by any means, but he plans on making things right. That said, he is faced with quite an obstacle as since he never made any important life decisions, he never truly made things wrong. Because it was a Ghost that ended everything for him, he has a certain hatred toward them, and because it was a 'Spiritist' that failed in curing him, he dislikes those as well. All of the passion he never had in life is flooded in his Soulmist now, making him mercurial and dangerous. Not truly good or evil, Auldwin struggles to find his place as a Ghost.

Character History

Secret :
Auldwin was the opitome of a 'commoner'. He was common. Very common. He never took risks, never made difficult choices, he never even got himself involved in something that would have required a difficult choice. He had always assumed he was 'happy' with his life because very rarely did he feel 'sad'. His life was filled with repetition, generally going to work doing whatever it was he could muster and later coming home when it was all done. Sometimes he drank at the local tavern when he was invited, and sometimes he told jokes when it felt appropriate, but he was otherwise so unremarkable that all but his best friends would never have even known he was a long time Syliras resident.

This was until fate decided to get in his way. Auldwin most likely would have lived a long, uninspiring life. He never made enemies because he never said anything that one would have found offensive. He never attempting actions that would have been questionable, and indeed his wife stayed with him for so long because she knew his loyalty to her was unwavering as he never had the aspersions to make an attempt at wooing another woman. His father Louyis, however, was completely the opposite. Having lost his wife early after Auldwin was born to an accident, he soon became something of a traveling adventurer, wandering the landscape to meet new and exciting people and 'make his fortune'.

Often Louyis would write his son letters of his travels and implore him to come visit the various places about the continent, and always Auldwin would refuse, not seeing any reason to leave his home. It was the final choice to bend to his father's wish that would be his only, and last defining life decision. His father was in Endrykas, meeting with and learning from the Drykas people due to having some distant Half-Drykas relatives and requested his son come and see the untamed wilds. It was on his way to this place that Auldwin met his first and last Ghost.

Perhaps Auldwin looked like someone the Ghost detested, or perhaps he reminded him of some demeanor the Ghost's nemesis once had (although this would have been difficult, as Auldwin did not have any particular demeanor). Never-the-less, the Ghost began to haunt and torment Auldwin during his caravan trip within the Sea of Grass. This unrequested interaction was far beyond the typical difficulties in life Auldwin was used to. It quickly began to have a strong impact on his psyche and began driving him mad. Once at Endrykas, his father referred him to a young man whom was said to have some Spiritual skill, and may be able to banish the Ghost which had hidden itself completely within Auldwin's body, possessing him at will. This man was known as Zeal Aldercraftworked out with Zeal prior to creation. Zeal had not practiced the art as diligently as his father had, and although Auldwin was believed to be cured, the Ghost had simply hid dormant inside of him.

That evening the Ghost understood that as it had been spotted it had to move along, had Auldwin walk, walk, and walk until he was outside of the protection of the webbing surrounding the Endrykas, where he was subsequently mauled by beasts. This was when Auldwin's life ended. Or perhaps, it was when a story worth telling began.
