Standing at a height of 6'1", his slender toned build hides his immense stores of strength in his small, but defined muscles. His pale skin is a testament to the vast amount of time spent under the cover of night. He wears his hair short enough to stay out of the way, not really worrying about the fashion trends of the times. That said, he has a hard, angular face, that most find handsome, in it's own way. Eyes that are far more grey than blue complete his striking visage.

His style of dress differs from occasion to occasion. Most of the time, you can find him in purely functional clothes; something that allows him a full range of motion and provides some sort of protection from the elements. Though, Rycust knows when to put on his charm, and has a set of nice silk clothes for special occasion, or when he is working an angle with the ladies. In all circumstances, he favors the color black. He finds its elegance and simplistic nature unmatched by any other color.

His rough hands, the product of years of weapons training, match the rest of his body. Years of fights and training show all over his body in the form of many small scars, in addition to a slightly crooked nose.

Rycust's personality centers around his sole protector and father, Rhysol. On a basic level, Rycust's sole desire is to please Rhysol. Jaded from never being acknowledged by his biological father, Rycust has a need to make his action known to Rhysol, his new father, who delivered him from his previous life. He believes that truth and reality can only come out through chaos. You never truly know a person until you see what happens to them in a state of pure chaos.

For an agent of the god of chaos, Rycust is very meticulous. Some aspects of his life he likes to keep in perfect order, purely for functionality. He maintains a delicate balance of order and chaos in his life, a method that is also important in the nature of his order; the Ebonstryfe.

Due to constantly being overlooked in his past life, Rycust relishes the feeling of being in control, or being important. One of the greatest ways to experience it, he found, is through the killing of another human being. The power that comes with the decision to bring about the end of existence for a person is the ultimate power. It elevates one to a God-like status.

Rycust is wary of women. He had an experience as a teenager; completely fell in love with a girl. Rycust would have given everything away to make this woman happy. He loved her and thought that the feelings were returned. Though, his dreams of a happily ever after were shattered when he saw his girl in bed with one of his close friends. Upon the sight, he beat the friend so severely that he was within inches of death. Since, he has been wary with women. Forever a skeptic. Convinced that they are all evil creatures, Rycust has no problem using them purely for sex. Whores have become his woman of choice.

There is a serious demeanor about him when he is focusing on furthering Rhysol's will, and should not be disturbed. When violence is involved, he is often beyond the realm of reasoning. Many might call it blood lust, but he just sees it as a healthy love of the challenge of battle.

Intelligence is important to Rycust, but he wouldn't put it over street smarts. He's definitely smarter than the average bear(even the average human), and he takes pride in knowing his arts well. Though he's not classically educated in Mathematics and Rhetoric, he has a quick mind and is a very fast learner. In such an academic situation, there is no doubt that he would excel.

Rycust was born into a rather wealthy Zeltivan merchant family, 490 years after the Valterrian. Being the only child, one might think that Rycust would then garner all the attention from his parents. Unfortunately, this was not so. Both of Rycust's parents led very busy lives, his father being a merchant, always looking for another angle or a lead before his competition, and his mother was an avid painter and artist. Thus, Rycust was left unattended for the most part. Though his mother was able to spend some time with the boy, since a young age, he had always idolized his father.

To Rycust, like most young boys, his father was a figure of strength and power. Tael, Rycust's father, was a god to the young boy. He was the head of the house and brought in the most money. It became Rycust's goal to be like his father, as is many young boys dream. But every time Rycust made his own play merchant's scale or had a new coin to show his father, he was shrugged off. No matter how hard he tried, Rycust never did anything to warrant his father's attention.

Tael Erryt was a businessman, through and through, and a heartless one at that. Everything to him was numbers. Everything was there only to benefit himself. The majority of his life was spent on making money and getting a leg up over his competition. His wife was merely a distraction, or a way of pleasing himself. His son was just a bothersome, unforeseen and unwanted cost on Tael's ledger. And Tael's ledger was the most important thing to him. Tael had delusions of grandeur and nothing would stop him from attaining greatness. This attitude led to questionable and dangerous business tactics that led to many moved of his family.

The family's last move was to Ravok, when Rycust was 14 years old. He still held his father in high regard, but no longer saw him as a god. Still, he desperately craved the attention he was never given as a child and found a new way to get it: becoming tough. Rycust spent his coin learning the Martial Arts, and practicing his technique on local ruffians. Again his efforts were not acknowledged. It seemed Ravok would be just like anywhere else. Tael had the same mindset.

He believed that he could operate with his same dirty business tactics here in Ravok. He thought he could screw over the Ebonstryfe. Needless to say, Tael was wrong. He set up a racket of 'acquiring' Ebonstryfe arms and armor, then shipping it out to private collectors, making a sizable profit in the process.

The Ebonstryfe saw this as a gross misuse of their personal creations, not to mention they had been experiencing a lot of armor thefts, so they took action. After only a few months of Tael conducting his 'business', the Ebonstryfe sent a killing squad to his house.

Rycust was just walking home from a fight when he saw to beautiful warriors striding up to his house. He saw the confidence in their step, the power exuding from their very being, and he immediately wanted to be just as they were. They were somebody. They would not be ignored. It took him several moment to realize what was going on.

The moment they kicked in the door to his house, Rycust was torn. He had two decisions, fight against these warriors who were there to kill his family or run. It didn't take Rycust long to decide that he wouldn't risk his life to save his parents. They weren't really worth saving. Rycust had an idea of his father's corrupt business dealings, and his mother was too depressed and in her own artistic world to care about anything anymore. So he knew he would leave them to die. The next question was; would he risk his life to become like those warriors? And the answer came in the form of Rycust striding straight towards them. He was still a long ways away from his house, so when he finally closed in on the property, the Ebonstryfe were outside the house conversing. As he strode forward he over heard them.

"Isn't there supposed to be a boy?"

"Yeah, gotta find him. Tie off all loose ends."

"There! There's the mongrel!"

All of the warriors turned towards him. "You take him. Prove your worth." They said to a younger, unarmored member of the force. He was only a few years older than Rycust, and not much taller.

The petitioner strode towards Rycust with arrogance, eager for his first kill. He gripped the dagger tight in his hands. After closing the distance between them, Rycust saw the boy's dagger and panicked. "No, you don't understand! I want to be like you!" He cried. But the attacker wasn't listening, or didn't care.

The petitioner lunged forward, dagger aimed straight for Rycust's heart. But his blow found no mark, as Rycust instinctively sidestepped at the last moment and delivered a vicious elbow to his attacker's head. The dagger wielding boy fell and Rycust continued his plea; "I don't want to fight. I want to be you!"
The wounded boy caught Rycust off guard with a kick to the legs that quickly dropped him to the ground. The petitioner then attempted to mount Rycust and stab at his ace, but was kicked off due to the sheer tenacity of Rycust's kicks.

Resigning himself to the fight, Rycust fell on the boy, punching him with brutal strength about the face and head. After his attacker was unconscious, Rycust stood and looked at the armored Ebonstryfe, "I apologize. Please take me back with you."

The warriors, mildly impressed at the display of martial skill, looked to one man in particular, who carried an air of power unlike the rest. The leader smiled, a cruel, sadistic smile, and replied, "Don't be sorry. Finish the job." and he motioned at the fallen boy.

Rycust looked at the boy, filled with a feeling he had never experienced before. All eyes were on him. Everyone gave him their full attention. He was in control. He had the power. As he walked over to the fallen boy, he experience another feeling. One of ultimate power. Ultimate control. As he picked up the boy's dagger, the feeling increased. His heart was pounding out of his chest, his vision narrowed to just the boy, and he smiled. As he plunged the dagger into the chest of the ex-petitioner, he experienced a feeling of pure euphoria. He pulled it out slowly and stabbed him again and again, relishing every moment, until the boy's torso was in ribbons.

Rycust looked up to the Ebonstryfe agent who had ordered the killing, and found the warrior smiling. Proud. He turned to his soldiers and said, I will train this one myself. Thus began Rycust's new life.

After being taken into Wersef's, the Ebonstryfe Commander, home, Rycusdt was exposed to a whole new world. A world, Wersef taught him, that is run by the god Rhysol. This entity, Rhysol, was the focus of many of Wersef and Rycust's discussion upon him entering the house. Everything made sense the way Wersef explained it.

Rhysol was the being that gave Rycust the will and power to bring the unworthy petitioner to his demise. He was also the force that showed Rycust that his family didn't deserve to be saved, they deserved the fate the sowed with false promises and lies. Wersef also taught that lies were a vital and natural part of life. Everyone told lies, thus no one could be trusted. And if you can trust no one else, why should you be trustworthy? Rycust made a note to keep things to himself and never let anyone know the whole truth. Misdirection was a powerful tool.

Another important part of life was Chaos. The true nature of things were brought out in the midst of chaos. One might see a priest of the god of peace throw down an innocent to save his own life when he is out of other options. Rhysol invites us to reap our own chaos, and embrace the true self that is revealed.

Philosophical discussions weren't the only thing that took place in Rycust's new home. There was also a great deal of training. Wersef was preparing him for entering the order that he had idolized: The Ebonstryfe. This meant teaching Rycust about the art of battle, both unarmed and armed. It also meant teaching him other ways of getting what he wanted, particularly through poison, intelligence, and larceny. It meant preparing him to take up the name of the most sacred and powerful order that existed.

Finally, after three years of soaking up all the information about his savoir, Rhysol, and the deadly and unscrupulous arts, Rycust was accepted as an Apprentice. His journey had begun.
