There always was some allure to the forbidden if one was told not to do this or that then the person might be even more tempted to do the action that is not permitted. That is just human nature. People want to know and experience everything, they and if they don’t then they at least want to know why. Why was it forbidden? Depending on the answer that one gets then they can accurately judge if they really want to do it or not. The situation that Kinne found himself in today was rather fickle. He wanted to go where his parents were going, but he was told to stay home. So, as every good plotting kid does he went to his room and began weighing the possibilities. He was old enough the defend himself and he was strong, for his age. He nodded to himself not quite understanding why his parents wanted him to stay behind. It was unfair.

Then an idea came to him, a grand idea, one that will change the course of today’s events. He would not stay at home while the parents have all the fun, no sir, but he would follow them, sneakily of course. Grinning, that was great idea! He could trail his parents and see exactly what they are up to. They would not be able to keep any secrets from him. Grinning as a plan started to form in his head he went to his door and placed a hand on the handle, the metal cold to the touch, and opened the door slowly. Once it was open just enough for him to slip through he did and tried to quietly close it after himself. The door only let out a small squeak of disapproval as if it was telling him his idea was a bad one.

Paying no heed to the doors warning the kid stuck to the walls, back pressed against it, his feet trying so hard not to make noise, but every footfall would produce a soft noise of some kind. Perhaps if he was more practiced at this sneaking thing then he would not have that problem, or maybe if he wore shoes, but no, he was barefoot and his tan shirt and pants with a red jacket didn’t help him much to blend into the houses white and elaborate walls.

The manor was truly magnificent. A place of dreams, for his parents, and its spender was only dampened by the fact that he had lived there his entire life. Any person on the street would kill to live where he was yet… Kinne shook his head; all he wanted to do was leave this place… Though right now was not the time to think about such things. He had to focus on the goal, on the mission of following his parents. The first thing he has to do is find them.

Having found his parents leaving quickly out the front door they were easy to spot. Only his father would wear such clean and smooth looking red robes that seemed way too classy even for this family, and his mother with her looks being so hard driven. They were a weird pair, in Kinnes eyes, but the love was there even in their petty arguments there still was love. Smiling he watched around the corner as they left the house. He was going to figure out where they were going if it killed him. Grinning he went on his merry way opening the door to the house a few moments after it was closed and peeked out from behind it. He saw his parents walking up to the gate that surrounded the place and opening it. They were going somewhere in the city! With that realization made he really wanted to go now.

When the gate was closed he hurried out the door, forgetting to close it, and to the gate. He couldn’t lose sight of them now, but when he reached the gate he realized that the city had shifted in the blink of an eye and where he was going was nowhere that his parents would be. Looking out of the gate he realized that his house materialized right in the midst of a busy marketplace. Gulping, he had to find his parents, but how was he going to now?!

Opening the gate he and taking his first two steps out into the place he thought of all the tales of people thinking where they needed to go and the city guiding them. Would that really work, does it work for finding people or does it only work on specific places? What is the extent of the cities power, and was it an extension of the city or something much deeper? These questions flooded his mind as he tried so hard to keep his parents in mind, but with no luck. He blindly began wandering the market bumping into people trying so desperately to find the all too familiar hem of his fathers red cloak, or maybe even a glance at his mother’s hair or hands, anything to point him the right direction.
