Alea thought about staying to learn Vani, but she wasn't sure she could stay focused on it like this man seemed to want her to. It didn't seem all that useful to her at the moment, and besides, she already knew it a little. She thought about distracting him just to be spiteful, but in truth, she was getting almost as tired of him as he was of her.

She thought that a sufficient amount of time may have passed that the group of children chasing her had probably either given up, or spread out to look for her. She hoped that they were spread thin enough for her to sneak past them. If she could get to the cliffs by the beach, she might be able to lose them for good.

She listened at the door for the sounds of running shouting children, and when she didn't hear any, she slowly opened the door and peeked out. The coast was clear. Not bothering to say goodbye, or close the door behind her, she darted out into the street, trying to keep to the most shadowed and least visible sides of buildings.

[Flashback] A most unusual birthday. (Louie Wein)

Like he suspected there was nothing to keep a student in a mood of learning outside of a class setting. Louie was also not too interested to teach someone else when he was learning because both times required him to be in a different mindset. He watched the girl for a while moving about in the room before losing interest and opening up his book again. "When you are ready to be serious you can always join some of my classes in the Academy" he told her in very horrible vani before repeating it in common just in case she might have heard it as something else. It might also give her a chance to correct him one last time but she did not seem too interested, leaving him without saying anything.

"How rude..." he mumbled to himself. If she really did take him up on that offer she will find herself with a whole lot of homework. That should teach her to respect her seniors and have some discipline that the militaristic Academy tries to put in the Denval children. After a while, Louie completely forgot about the girl when he got deeper into the book again trying to put the things he said into vani, just like he would when he wrote. "Strange girl...interrupt studies...monkeys and snow..." were just some of the words he spoke out in the broken vani he tried to put together. It was just too much of a strain to continue on any further than that. Louie cleared up the table and walked home to have a break from both vani and children until it was time to work the next day.
