Journeying Outside of Endrykas (Ronan)

As Ronan looked into Leto's eyes, the man looked intently back towards him, his intentions true enough as he spoke of them. "I seek the Watcher to tell him something, something of deep importance to myself, and him. Unfortunately now is not the right time to let you in on the part of me that is unfortunately different from most drykas, but, perhaps in time, you'll come to know my nature... I must express to Sama'el what I haven't told him yet, and what I must tell him soon, lest it burst forth from me uncontrollably," he said, slowly, deliberately, but still with a faint gentle tone in his voice, one that portrayed that he was telling the truth of what he was saying, ambiguous as it was. "That is why I seek the watcher Sama'el..." he finished, and then even as his eyes continued to watch Ronan's, locked onto them firmly, many thoughts traversed through Leto's mind.

What if he figures out my reason for trying to find Sama'el? he thought, What if he learns of my forbidden feelings that I have to tell Sama'el about. Will he think as poorly of me as my uncle does? Will he try to kill me? Many thoughts raced through Leto's mind as he spoke to Ronan, not knowing the man's true intentions, but knowing that he was a good man, despite what dark past he might have. Leto could see a light in his eyes that made him almost hopeful for the future, as he watched Ronan carefully, the breeze blowing his short multicolored hair a bit as he concentrated on what it was that Ronan would say next, if anything.

Leto wasn't like a normal drykas, and he was socially inept for the most part, but he was determined to break out of his shell and come to be accepted by the Drykas for who he was, rather than dismayed by them for his personal actions. All Leto sought was acceptance, and he felt that Sama'el could give it to him, no matter what, he seemed to be a good man, and Leto knew that, as young as the drykas was compared to him. But would Ronan be able to share the same sympathies that Sama'el might be able to share, would he be able to grant Leto the acceptance that the elder male so desperately sought, which only thus far his aunt had been able to provide. Leto didn't know, and hoped to the gods that Ronan didn't figure out his secret to quickly, or tried to harm Leto for his behaviors that were not anywheres near his fault. To Leto it was natural, but to Ronan it probably would have seemed more unnatural than anything, then again, Leto did not know the man fully, so he didn't know what his mannerisms were either.

All he had was hope that Ronan would see the truth in his eyes that he needed to speak with Sama'el sometime soon, and waiting til he returned from his journey would not be soon enough. Leto's own emotions were slowly spiralling out of control, and he knew that he had to tell Sama'el of them, or they might eat Leto up entirely in the process...
Back again... for a lil longer this time I hope.

Ronan got the feeling that Leto wasn't telling him the full story, but the truth of it was, he understood what the man was trying to say. Different to other Drykas... his nature... it was clear what he was alluding to.

Leto was clearly scared of people's responses, of people's attitudes towards him. But Ronan wasn't phased in the slightest. It wasn't so strange. Love was love, and that was all there is to it. Ronan smiled. Siyana had made him so cynical about such feelings, yet here he was endorsing it. Sometimes, feelings had to be followed with actions.

"I understand," he said softly, nodding. That was all that needed to be said.

It looked like Leto was adamant on leaving - and he could not wait another season for Sama'el to return from Avanthal. Ronan looked up at Tairell and blinked heavily. Sama'el had asked him. He had been honoured, yet tied to Endrykas...

But could he have the free will to choose. Could he go on this trip, enrich his life, and return feeling even more fulfilled. Was that something he could do?

Akilah was here. But she would still be here when he returned. When he had been young, everything had just crumbled around him, but he had to believe in solid things. Anchors that would stay tethered for a long while yet.

"I... I would like to go too..."

As Ronan smiled, and said that he understood, Leto nodded in response. Perhaps he wouldn't turn out like Leto's uncle after all. And it seemed that Ronan definitely wanted to go as well, to find Sama'el. That was most certainly a good thing, at least Leto wouldn't be traveling alone in this expedition. And he could finally get down tot he bottom of this as to why Sama'el hadn't told him about where he was going, or even bothered informing him that Dohaina had become pregnant. Soft obsidian orbs rested upon Ronan's face, and Leto smiled back. "Well then, it seems that we shall be traveling together after all then. Hopefully you're better at combat than myself, I had studied the mysteries much more than combat when I was younger... Although I do have the rudimentary knowledge of what this thing on my back is," he said smiling, and pointing towards the glaive. The truth was, he did understand the basics, but had very little practice with it for now.

Hopefully that would change in the future though. Arias trotted up next to him nudging him forward a bit, and he grinned and then said, "Well, shall we each do what needs to be done to get ready for the trip, and then meet back here before we head off? I assume we'll need provisions for it, as well as perhaps some extra stuff for the group that's already out there, in case they need more supplies for what they're doing? We can always take the bare minimum to start off with, and then restock in Riverfall, right?" As he asked, he felt a little unsure of where to begin, but figured he might as well throw some ideas out there so that Ronan could decide how they wanted to proceed. Leto would more than likely let him take the lead, granted neither of them really had much experience outside of Endrykas, but if Ronan was training for the watch, he was sure he'd have some form of combat experience in case they ran into any trouble.

Awaiting patiently, he thought about what he was going to tell Sama'el when he saw him, but wasn't so sure he'd be able to form the words properly. What would Denen think as well, if he indeed found out, given how close him and Sama'el happened to be? Leto didn't know, and he wasn't that eager to find out, but he knew he had to do something lest his feelings would burst out of him uncontrollably. Arias nudged him again, and he smiled patting him on the neck. "It seems Arias is definitely ready to go as well, he's never really been outside of Endrykas either, so i'm sure he'll want to stretch his legs somewhat..." said Leto with a smile, as he allowed his eyes to fall back upon Ronan from looking at Arias briefly...

His mind was made up... he should have left with Sama'el in the first place, but his delay had given him a family. There were loose ends to tie up before he left. He wanted to speak to Akilah and tell her where he was going.

He stroked Tairell again, a smile forming on his face. "We're going to do something for ourselves for once girl."

He would leave with this stranger and find Sama'el somewhere in the north.

"Let's say... twenty four hours. I'll meet you here in a days time, and then we'll depart for Riverfall. I have some people to speak to, and you're right - I'll get a small bag of provisions. We can buy proper stuff in Riverfall."

He couldn't quite believe what he was saying. Soon enough, he'd have left Cyphrus. The thought sent a shiver down his spine, but he turned to Leto and smiled. Sama'el was a popular man it seemed - so many people following him for so many different reasons.

We'll be brothers in the Watch one day... he thought.

"Avanthal here we come."

Journeying Outside of Endrykas (Ronan)

Leto nodded when Ronan spoke of needing twenty four hours to prepare for the trip. He would take the time to tell his aunt and uncle of where he was going, albeit as nervous as he was, leaving Endrykas for the first time in fourteen eras was going to be an interesting change. And perhaps in meeting this new stranger, he might have found a new social connection, a new friend. Smiling as he bid his farewells to Ronan for now, he departed the area, and went back to his tent. Packing the rest of his stuff, he would grab only a few small provisions, and place them in his pack, along with some glyphing supplies, paper and such, and then proceed to tell his aunt and uncle what he was planning on doing. They were not so thrilled with the idea, but his aunt told him to go if he truly thought it was what he needed to do. Heading back to his tent in his pavilion, he would lay down, and try to get some sleep before the night was out, now that he was all packed and ready for the trip ahead of them.

Nodding off, all he could do was think and dream about Sama'el, and wonder why he hadn't told Sama'el where he was heading off to, and why he ended up having to hear it from some stranger, rather than the lips of Sama'el himself. He couldn't help but wonder what the entire reason was for this betrayal, or what he felt like was a betrayal of their friendship. He thought that Sama'el had actually cared about him, but perhaps if Sama'el knew what Leto had thought about him, then he would actually give a damn about the elder drykas. Obsidian orbs slowly slid closed as he fell into a deep slumber, only to awaken the following day, when he would get up, pack the rest of his supplies and provisions, and make his way out of Endrykas to where Sama'el's former camp was, and where Ronan would be waiting for him.

Upon meeting Ronan at Sama'el's camp, Leto would smile, and then they would be off, riding their striders towards Riverfall, using the web to guide them as they went. It would be the beginning of a journey of self discovery, and perhaps the beginning of a new friendship, each had their own reasons for going on this journey, but they both had the same destination... Sama'el.

End

Leto Treebearer:
XP Award: Investigation +1; Persuasion +1
Lores: Sama’el’s Departure

Ronan Windsong:
XP Award: None
Lores: Sama’el’s Departure

Additional Notes: Rather simple, really. There was a good progression from the shock of discovery to the decision to depart.
