Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Saying a quick goodbye to Kavala and Leto, and giving Tairell a few minutes of fuss, Ronan took off alone to go and explore the city. He was so thankful for Kavala's hospitality

It was so new to his eyes - Endrykas, and endless grass, were all he had seen for so many years. He had been to Riverfall once before in his youth, but he seldom recalled anything of the visit. It was sad to think he had come here with his parents and brother the last time round. His father had had some business in the City, and that was all he could remember.

As he walked, he couldn't help but stare at the Akalak. They were large, and powerful looking. Despite his skill with the dagger, Ronan would rather not be confronted by one of these men. They were generally well built, muscles like slabs of stone, and their eyes were so mysterious. Windows to a world of honour and secret.

The city itself was lush and beautiful. He could see the Suvan in all it's glory, and the sound of Bluevein River smashing down into the Sea filled the air. There were a few seabirds, noisy in the sky, and perched on roofs.

When he began to allow his mind to focus, the faint strands of the Web began to become visible. He smiled. Sama'el and Leto had truly opened his eyes to a whole new world. The Web was magical... linking everything and everyone, bringing life full circle.

How had he been so blind to the Web for so long?

It was still taking a lot of time to allow his ethereal form to join the Web, but he knew it would become natural with practise. Practise makes perfect. It was the same with everything.

So he began to concentrate, struggling on that divide of mind and body. Soul and flesh. He found himself distracted more than once, as he tried to part the ways, but finally it happened.

Weight was sucked from his body, and he felt like a gentle breeze, floating free from his mortal constraints. And he quickly grabbed hold of the closest strand, a feeling akin to electricity running up his arms.

As he moved up the Web, he began to seek out Sama'el's traces again.

Practise makes perfect...

Ronan could feel the gentle pull of the Origin Stones in the Sanctuary. They tasted of Sama'el. It was hard to describe, yet they were irrevocably made by the Watcher, steeped in his doing, plastered with his image.

He stared down the strand he held onto, eyes flitting between the connecting lines. They criss-crossed everywhere, some may have been standing for a long while - Sama'el said that the most skilled Webber's could stretch their strands across the whole of Mizahar.

That was a breath taking thought.

As he slid his hands over numerous strands, feeling their texture, feeling their traces, he began to desire his own. Sama'el had shown him how to make a small strand. He recalled what the man had taught him, anxious to try it out again.

Sama'el had likened it to reimancy. Expelling Djed from the body, and then working into the silken strands of the Web. Ronan began to focus yet again. It was truly a difficult thing to do. Like juggling on one leg, with daggers being thrown at you from all directions. It took immense concentration and mental endurance to even move the Djed in the first place.

A trickle.

A beginning.

A little of Mizahar's building blocks began to seep out of his form, and he he painstakingly began to spin it into thread. He was clumsy, and particularly novice at this. At the same time, he found it difficult to allow more Djed out into the weave.

When he was finally done, he looked at the thread with a smile. It was tiny, dangling from another thin strand. But it was his. This part of the Web, was a part of him.

The tug back to his body began - and he allowed himself to float back into flesh. As always, the weight him first. One moment he was spirit, one moment he was mortal again. The transition startling. His head felt a little fuzzy - perhaps he had worked himself too hard, but he felt a sense of accomplishment at what he had achieved. The head aches and fatigue after would fade with practise.

One day he'd be able to sink Origin Stones, and form his own mass Webs. And there were so many other uses... transferring messages, creating warning systems, and the use they were pursuing now - tracing and tracking.

With a hand pressed against his forehead, Ronan staggered back towards the Sanctuary. He and Leto should probably think about gathering some supplies... there were only two days left here, and then they would be out on the Suvan Sea.
