Haben

of the tents of Jarob, of the sons of Benha

Race: Benshira
Date of Birth: 17th of Fall, 491 AV
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Height: 5'11
Weight: 170 lbs
Eye Color: Bright Green
Hair Color Dark Brown

Physical Description

Roaming the sands long enough to see twenty brutal Summers, Haben is of a a solid frame with broad shoulders and strong features marking his face. His well muscled body and the calluses on his hands and feet speak of a life of labor in the sands, though his brilliant green eyes speak a vibrancy hidden within the callus exterior the proud shepherd reflects to those not of his own flock.

Wether it be on the sands or in the hallowed sheets of Yahebah, he is dressed with a white ankle length tunic, a strong cord tied tight around his waist to keep the tunic from fluttering in the wind. Over his tunic he wears a long brilliant coat of greens and blues of varying intensity though on his head he wears a simple white hood to cover his head, and a fine silver circlet over it to keep it in place. To protect his feet from the unforgiving bite of the hot sands he wears leather sandals.

Character Concept

Haben is a man just as home working with the cattle alongside his brothers as he is socializing with friends. His love for his family is only surpassed by his devotion to yahal, as to him there is no greater service than that to his god. From his hands flows freely that which he can spare to give to those in need, though when presented with more than one beggar he tries to keep it even to avoid growing jealousy among those infirm he gives to. He has an idealistic view of most of the world, believing every man with no trace of the beast in him and no magic to taint his mind can be brought to the light no matter what dark deeds he has committed in the past. This isn't to say he won't make a judgment and defend when it is due, but remove imminent threat from view, and his words are just as kind from one man to the next if not carrying the connotations a greater wisdom to be had in turning over a new leaf.

Haben remains set in the ways of his people that magi and the beastly races are to not be trusted, and keeps his distance when he can from those he recognizes as such. He is yet young and full with a fresh view of the world though, and the ideology he clings to has yet gone untested, his mettle yet to be known. Only time will tell.

Character History

Born into the tents of Jarob, Haben came into the harsh territory of Eyktol when Fall was just dawning upon the lands and the farmers of Yahebah were preparing their crop for a early harvest, for they knew better than to risk having their hard work stripped from under them by a harsh fall wind. For his family it was a time of bounty, and though the babe didn't realize it, his eldest brother had just gotten married and with it he brought another to join the tents of Jarob, and there was much to be thankful to yahal for.

Years would pass and see the babe grown into a walking toddler, and then to a child that could learn and consume the wisdom of those around him, and he started by shadowing his eldest brother. For the duration of his tenth year, he followed his brother as the man worked about on his shepherd duties, keeping quiet when he was told, and eagerly assisting when he got the chance. He'd see yet another five summers before he got to wield a sling like he witnessed his brother do countless times, but during those years he was taught the basics of how to survive on what little there could be found out in the desert, and defend against the inherent dangers of the land. In the tent when he went to rest his head, his mother regaled him with songs and tales of bravery, and heroics, and through the wisdom of the story the babe learned to rightly mistrust the magi, and those beastly men of the stories his mother told.

Upon seeing his fifteenth summer come and pass, it would be his brother who took him to the sands and taught him the art of the sling. Leather bit into flesh, and calluses formed across the boy's hands, but through time and stubborn determination, he proved himself competent in front of his brother when he killed a coyote just yards away. From then on for years he found himself working beside his brother, helping guard the flock as best he could while his brother worked on finding precious grass for the goats and cattle, and herbs for their mother. When hands could be spared he went with his brother on these trips but these where not often as he would have liked for more than often more than a few eyes and hands needed to be around the animals to keep them safe and well cared for.

As his twentieth year dawned on him, another brother of his with hands more skilled for healing found a wife of his own, and celebration once more found the family. It was to be the first marriage celebration he was to participate in and a fine one at that. In the coming days though Haben came to know such a joyous occasion brought with it the departing of his eldest brother towards Yahebah after just days in a effort to bring further safety for the child he had, and the one the was to come. For now the son of Jarob keeps to his fathers tents, but every footstep across the sand that puts him further from his brother weighs heavier on him, and there are nights he dreams of going to he holy city himself if only to work beside his brother.
