Deir Tangledmane of the Diamond Clan

Weight: 175 lbs
Eye Color: Blue
Hair: Long and black with a couple of red highlights
Skin: Pale white
Build: Medium

Clothes: Deir dresses mostly in white and other light colors. His current attire includes a tight fitting, long sleeved white linen tunic, clearly worn out and with smudges that couldn’t have been removed no matter how many times the garments were washed. His legs are protected by thick and hardly comfortable leather trousers made more for durability rather than appearances. The trousers are also tight fitting, but leave him enough room to move around freely without the fear of getting the fabric ripped up at the crotch; not too much though. Like many of the Drykas, Deir too wears riding boots made of fine black tinted leather.
Equipment: An assassin’s dagger hangs from his left hip and a longbow can usually be found in either of his hands with the quiver strapped down across his back diagonally. A longsword can additionally be found hanging from Clethros’ saddle, depending on the occasion.

Appearance & Character

ImageDeir comes off as a man who cares little for appearances. His long hair is almost always a mess, and his face is covered in light stubble more often than not. His clothes are always kept in the best condition possible, yet he refuses to go out and purchase some new garments. The man’s build is muscular and his legs are shaping a slight “o” from all the time spent upon Clethros. This makes him a bit awkward looking when he’s walking, but that does not make him a klutz. Although not the finest when it comes to grooming, Deir does take good care of his personal hygiene and bathes as often as possible.

When seen among the clansmen, Deir will most of the time put forward the effort to listen rather than speak. While not quite bad looking, he will rarely talk with girls and even when doing so it’s based more on necessity than pleasure. Like most Drykas, he too tends to show his truest nature around his strider and immediate family.

Deir is absent. He likes to dream and dream big, not letting the little things get in his way. In such a manner he can get arrogant and feisty should someone step on his dreams, but even then his tough guy act is used more to maintain appearances. Even though Deir will hardly ever speak without being spoken to first, he is soft spoken and kind when conversing. Unlike most of his Drykas brethren, he does not wish to end his life in the waves of thriving grass. Much more studious in nature than most of the horsemen, he wishes to see the world and tell wondrous tales about his travels one day. His people, while dear to him are not what he deems an ideal setting, and when comparing himself to the others of his clan he feels like a coward most of the time. Boy dreams of foreign places, unknown magic and mysterious gods. While most people with his mindset would leave the Sea of grass never to return, he is a Drykas through and through, his love for his people surpassing all other visions and ideals. While not a complete coward, he doesn’t wish to try and grow old in Endrykas. There is far too much death there. Be it at the hands of Zith or Glassbeaks, he doesn’t want to bring himself in a position where he would have to watch his sons and daughters die before him. That is probably the reason he dislikes forming overly close bonds beyond those that his birth gave him.

When people actually manage to crack his shell, he is fairly talkative and can wax along for hours about stories he had heard as a kid, tell jokes or even discuss topics of interest. Even then he acts as if life is nothing serious, one giant joke waiting for a punch line to happen. This is however not the case, and he will hardly ever try and joke about something he feels a close bond to.

As the eldest son of his father and the only one with some Webbing skill, it is Expected of Deir to be the new leader of the Tangledmane pavilion. He has six siblings and he refers to all three of his father’s wives as mothers, mostly because they were all a major part of his upbringing. He is protective of all his family, and especially of his two younger sisters. It’s an assured thing that should he ever become an Ankal, all of his close family will be removed from any immediate danger even if it requires conflicts to arise.
