The Wilderness of Cyphrus is an endless sea of tall grass that rolls just like the oceans themselves. Geysers kiss the sky with their steamy breath, and mysterious craters create microworlds all their own. But above all danger lives here in the tall grass in the form of fierce wild creatures; elegant serpents that swim through the land like whales through the ocean and fierce packs of glassbeaks that hunt in packs which are only kept at bay by fires. Traverse it carefully, with a guide if possible, for those that venture alone endanger themselves in countless ways.

She regarded him as she took the Akalak in her arms, standing as if he weighed nothing at all. From above Denen, she smiled, and he felt a gentle, cooling rain upon his soul, a balm against his hurts at least for the time being, a peace not often found in this world, and surely only transitory. Her mark continued to stitch its way through the skin of his hand, a reminder for him, a link between them, and a warning for those who might harm him. He belonged to Rak'keli now.

"You must return to Endrykas now," she told him. "Your man will find you there, and you will go on your journey. Have no fear. Your road is a long one and fraught with peril, but fear of peril should not keep you from living life and doing work."

Then she paused, as if waiting.

[Kenash Road] Love Thine Enemy [Denen]

Postby Denen Sunsinger on February 22nd, 2012, 12:46 am

Denen found relief. For days, he'd been overwhelmed, distraught. No comfort had been within his reach. She numbed that now, or at least dulled the ache. His weary eyes turned down to his hand, upon which Her mark now wound its way. There was some purpose now, if only to serve Her. His life was Hers now. He lifted his gaze to Rak'keli, as he voice filled his senses. It was strange to hear it, to have sound resonating in his skull and not be crippled with pain. Soothing.

“H-How will he f-f-find me?” He choked out. Did She not know that Sam was dead? Perhaps he had already been reborn. His heart ached in his chest, and he clenched his jaw to bite back protest. If She said it, then it was true. A goddess would not lie to him. If Sam was dead, he would find a way to him, likely in a new body.

He pressed thin, worn hands to his belly, and bowed his head. “Th-Thank You,” he whispered. “Thank Y-Y-You for ch-choosing me.”

"Like any good Drykas," she said, "he will find you on the Web." She began to walk away, and perhaps he thought he would wake up, but he did not. As she moved away, though, reality set in, the world going silent, the presence of the rest of the people no longer eclipsed by her presence.

But the mark remained, and a part of her always present in his soul.
