The Trading Post

Image

The Trading Post is a market that is distinct from the other storefronts in that it is open air, and not enclosed at all. It is populated by a Myrian and a Charodaen trader, though never at the same time. For the first half of the week, the Myrian merchant sells her wares, and in the second half of the week, the Charoda sells theirs. This post is the primary source of fresh fruit and vegetables and meat (besides fish, at any rate) for Black Rock's inhabitants.

The Myrian traders usually have a very exotic stock to sell - everything from some leather products to great slabs of meat to baskets to pottery to enormous, beautifully-coloured fruits and vegetables of all kinds and sizes. They are displayed in baskets, in crates, and hung from wooden rails overhead. They will sell raw and unfinished goods, wood, ore, herbs, and the like, as well as the finished products - carvings, metal, herbal medicines. Occasionally, there might be a vibrantly-plumed jungle bird available, though more for display than actually expecting anyone to buy them. The Myrians love to barter and trade, but otherwise accept bikka or mizas. They do not accept Ashl.

The Charodaen merchant is as different from the Myrian as the sea's floor is from the rain forest. The strange-looking Charoda waits with woven baskets of sea vegetables, from cucumbers to grasses, along with fish from the deeper waters. They sell shells, woven goods, trinkets and treasures that have been found along the sea, and specially cultivated pearls. The Charoda accept shells or mizas.

Salakel of the Crimson Sun: Myrian Trader
A merchant trader from Taloba, Salakel has been trading with Black Rock's inhabitants for years. She offers a taste of something exotic for the natives. Tall and built like a proper Myrian, she has that vaguely frightening way about her that all Myrians do, and often grins in a rather discerning way... as if she was looking forward to feasting on one's flesh. Intelligent and enterprising, she loves to trade and barter, enjoying haggling. For a price, she will escort explorers to Taloba... passage prepaid, of course. She is honest, stands by her merchandise, and will vouch for quality and freshness. Always one for putting on a show, she'll offer samples of fruits and vegetables and prepared meat, or delectable baked treats or spreads. The tattoo on her torso is a crimson sun, standing out from her dark skin like a beacon in the night, and signifies her family clan.

Leeha Isskhal: Charodaen Merchant
Small, slender, and pale, Leeha is demure and soft-spoken. She sells sea vegetables, pearls, and other lovely things that one will find under the sea. She loves to talk with people, gathering and trading stories as much as her wares. She is no less exotic than Salakel, but offers a different flavour instead. She has long hair-tentacles that reach her ankles, a sign of her great age. She dresses simply in silvery cloak, her webbed toes occasionally peeking out from under the hem. She will accept mizas, shells, or ashl.
