The Docks The Docks is the term for the ever-shifting maze of docks where the gondolas await occupants. Guided by the mysterious Gondoliers, these beautiful, silent boats serve dual purposes. Not only are they a way to get around Black Rock, but these gondolas help guide the dead to their next destination - be it with Lhex or another god/dess. These docks are spread throughout the interior of the island, and change every hour on the hour when the great clock chimes. The black docks change along with the rest of the island, adjusting themselves plank-by-plank. It is not uncommon for the unwary to become trapped, and that is one of the duties of the Gondoliers, as well as the Omens, to rescue them. The Gondoliers are usually silent, although they will sometimes speak. Like the Omens, their identies, if they have one, are concealed. They wear black and grey cloaks and either red or white gloves. Beneath the hood of the cloak is a cloth that prevents others from seeing who, or what, is truly under these cloaks. They carry with them the long poles necessary to navigate the waterways, but the question of these staves is unanswered... considering how deep the water that divides the island must be.
