Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

❖ Phrases

"Sure as the Void is cold and dark."
- a strong affirmation, equivalent to saying "Right as rain"

"He/she's lost in the tall grass." - a phrase that indicates a lack of focus, or someone who's head is in the clouds

"The waterfall will take me first."
- a strong denial, as if someone would pitch themselves over the falls than agree or submit

"The glassbeaks would be proud."
- a joking way to commend someone on a dexterous failure, the equivalent to the modern sarcastic 'real smooth move'

❖ Oaths

TBD - See Suggestion Box

❖ Curses

The Riverfall Codex

So, you've arrived in Riverfall and are ready to dive in! What next?

First off, welcome to Riverfall! Be sure to familiarize yourself with the Riverfall Codex and the Seasonal Events Calendar to make sure you've got a good handle on the rules of the city, as well as if there are any major events going on in the city right now. You wouldn't want to skip into the gates singing to the birds when we're in the middle of a snowstorm!

Below is a brief checklist for all new arrivals. Each item also mentions a few pointers about it, particularly if it's a mistake we often see made. Aside from the point on becoming a Kuvan, these are things everyone has to do. Riverfall is a city where everyone is held to the highest standards, and you will not find people simply living on the street without jobs. Everyone must contribute in some way.

Here are the steps every PC in the city should cover, or should have already:

  1. Post the required form in the Character Registry. You must register every season you're active in Riverfall, and the thread is emptied and remade at the start of each season.
  2. If you're just now arriving in the city, post your IC arrival in the Land and Sea Gates thread.
  3. Find a place to live. You may either take a 20'x20' cottage, or buy an apartment from one of the housing developments listed in the Codex. When you come to Riverfall, your default option for housing is to own your own place, not rent. Renting a place is possible, but significantly more expensive, as rent is deducted in addition to your seasonal living expenses, meaning it usually costs more than it would have been to buy the place outright. Renting should only be an option for those staying for just a couple days. Buying a place uses your 500gm housing package, which, if you leave Riverfall, can be cashed back out and used to buy a place in another city. However, if you cashed out your housing and used it to rent, those mizas are gone forever. If, for some reason, you do decide to rent, you must put "renting" next to your housing on your CS. Additionally, unless you're incredible with Wilderness Survival, living outside the city in a tent is too dangerous to be a viable housing option.
  4. Apply for a job. All jobs must be approved by an ST, preferably applied for via the Labor Aid. Riverfall requires all citizens be at Common-level living or above, so unless you've got a cache of mizas, you'll need a job to pay for your living expenses at season-end.
  5. If you're Competent or above in a weapon or fighting style, you are eligible to become a formal citizen of Riverfall, a Kuvan. Post the required form in the Labor Aid for instructions on completing Kuvan status.
  6. Last, but not least, subscribe to the OOC Chatter thread, currently here. This is not only a place to chat OOC, but it's where we STs like to announce events and reminders.

If you have any questions, problems, or concerns, don't hesitate to drop one of the Riverfall STs a PM. They're more than happy to help you get a feel for the city and are here to help you out. Good luck and have fun in Riverfall!
