Avanthal, Frostfawn Hold

"Today, today, today! Todays gonna be a cool day!" Lunar chirped into the cold air, a skip in his stride as he walked along. It was an hour before daylight would strike, but today was special, today was Morwens festival, and he wanted to see how excited Alea was to see the Ice Queen. Would she be awake? He mused with a grin, smiling at no one or anything in particular. Even if she wasn't, Lunar knew what he would do "I'm gonna poke and prod her, gonna get her up!" His voice was horribly off tone, but he could not help it, today was the festival and he loved festivities. They were so fun, how could anyone not get up early for it?

With soul mist trailing along, he made his way to the Frostfawn hold, loathing the animals that were for some reason more skittish and the such when he arrived. What got their goats? Lunar asked himself as he listened to some of the crys, they were quite annoying and he had no idea what it meant. Opening up the Frostfawn Holds door quietly, he snuck in then pushed it shut lightly, he always wondered why Vanthas never locked their doors but that did not matter at the moment. The whole opening the door and shutting it however, was his imagination playing with him, he had actually walked right through it.

Looking about him, the hold was tidy as always but he did not see a single animal like soul, were they hiding from him? Lunar frowned, at least they showed themselves when they didn't like his presence. Shrugging, he began to walk up the stairs and to Aleas door, this time he knocked lightly, the image in his head that he was then he burst through the door with a cheery grin. There he saw her, still sleeping "Alea, Alea, Alea?" His voice chimed, the repetitiveness having become some sort of habit now as it sounded nice to him "hey, hey, you awake? Alea!"

Shaking his head in disbelief, he waltzed up to her bed and said in a louder voice "hey Alea! Wake up!" He hadn't taken notice of the deer till now, lifting an eyebrow he looked at the animal, expecting some sort of reprecussion he backed off a few steps and stood on his tip toes to get a better look of her "Morwens festival! C'mon! Wake up!" If anything, hopefully she would see his mannerisms as an excited child.

A Rude Awakening (Alea, Yuros)

Postby Alea Davenport on March 3rd, 2012, 3:55 pm

Alea awoke to a slight chilling of the temperature of her room and the sudden, obnoxious voice of a boy who sounded like it was his birthday. Sightly groggy, and more than a little grumpy at having been woken up at such an unreasonable hour, she glared at the boy through narrowed eyes. Her sleep fuzzed brain took a bit longer than usual to understand what he was going on about, and at first she just mumbled, "Go 'way. 'm sleeping," before rolling over and cuddling closer to Yuros' chest.

Unfortunately, that apparently wasn't an intimidating enough response to deter Lunar, because he kept up his chipper tirade about Morwen's festival. Oh right, she thought, today is the first day of spring. But why is he here so EARLY!? Surely the festival would not actually start until at least any sane person would have woken up... Sadly, it looked as though Lunar was not sane, and also that he was not going to let her sleep. With an exaggerated groan, she laboriously lifted herself into a sitting position, slowly blinking the sleep out of her eyes.

As she stared blankly at the see-through boy, she realized from his bouncing excitement that he would not go away and let her sleep. With a heavy sigh, and with agonizing slowness, she got herself out of bed and started putting her boots on. She might let the unnaturally cold boy drag her around, but there was no way she was going to be happy about it.

A Rude Awakening (Alea, Yuros)

Postby Yuros on March 13th, 2012, 5:11 am

Yuros felt the Huntress against him, could feel her warmth filling him with a content, almost happy feeling. It was strange, to be so close to a human and not feel the need to shy away, but then Yuros had long since grown used to this feeling.

The morning calls slowly drew Yuros from the depths of slumber, beckoning him to embrace the new day. Slowly, in an almost lazy fashion, Yuros blinked and rested an arm over his eyes. Such a human gesture, such an expression of how far he had come since his first meeting with Alea. It seemed that every day that past, the Kelvic was growing more and more human...

Then there as another feeling, a chill that swept through the Kelvic's entire body and set his senses on fire. Lifting his arm Yuros looked about the room, drawn to the sound of Alea's voice until he saw the spectral entity before him. Flinching in surprise, Yuros wrapped Alea in his warm embrace, pulling her closer to his chest and further from the strange child before them. It was only after a few soft words from the Huntress, and a gentle reassurance of her hand upon his chest, that finally saw his embrace loosened.

However, the Kelvic's eyes never left the strange boy. Sniffing the air, Yuros frown in concentration, He has no sent...

A pout of an expression crossed Lunars face, he just realized that the man was cuddling Alea and seemed to have gotten protective when he saw him. Though when Alea got up and out of bed, he grinned widely at her "bout time ya' woke up Alea," he chattered to her, he hopped to sit on the desk and watch her, and the man. Raising an eyebrow "cuddly much? Gosh.." his voice was laced with humor, he was teasing her even though he felt somewhat hurt at the fact she was in bed with another guy. What was this feeling? Was it even a feeling..?

It was strong, thats for sure as it made the room jump a degree or two more down with his mood, his ghostlyness betraying his glee at her obligement to get up for him "you think people would be eager to go to a festival, y'know, you look all grumpy" still he talked, getting up and off the desk he rocked on his feet in anticipation for her to hurry up. The soulmist clinging around him pooled about him lazily in wisps with his movements, frowning, he wondered why he was steaming "you know, I think its cold in here.." he stated to no one in particular but himself.

Lunar moved for the door as Alea had gotten ready, he reached and turned the door knob.. Having some difficulty, he tried again and whined "Alea, your door knobs stuck again!" Still he tried and it only wiggled a tad "I think I shut it a tad too hard coming in.." Glancing at her a little embarressed and nervous, he had done no such thing even if his mind had fooled him into thinking that. Reality was, he fazed through the door upon entering the room.

For whatever reason, Lunar could not open these silly doors while around people. Tis was strange to him, and he understood some people were and would be rather irked at having to open a door for him..

A Rude Awakening (Alea, Yuros)

Postby Alea Davenport on March 13th, 2012, 10:03 pm

Alea rolled her eyes at Lunar's ramblings, and in a moment of sleepiness, tried to ruffle his hair. The shock of cold woke her up a bit, and she was reminded that in addition to being slightly see-through, he didn't seem quite...solid, either. She'd seen him walk through walls in the past, but he insisted on maintaining the illusion that he was corporeal, like the rest of them. She wondered if this was an attempt to fit in. She got the impression, from various things he'd said in the past, that many of Avanthal's residents tended to ignore him, or pretend he didn't exist. In any case, if Lunar wanted to seem more human than he was, Alea wasn't going to get in his way.

"Hold on, let me get ready first," she complained. "I'm not going out into typical Avanthal weather like this." She was currently wearing a rather threadbare long-sleeve shirt and breeches, but she added to this ensemble two wool cloaks and her boots. She took her time lacing up the boots, a minor vengeance on the impatient boy for waking her up this early. She also took this time to reassure Yuros, who seemed a bit wary of Lunar. Though, that wasn't new; Yuros was wary of most of Alea's friends.

When she was properly dressed for the cold, she waved Lunar out of the way so she could open the door and lead the small group out into the snow. As the first gust of pre-dawn wind ruffled her cloak, she shivered and groaned. "Why are we doing this again? It's freezing. Isn't Avanthal going to get any warmer? It's not winter anymore..." She cuddled against Yuros for warmth, and nodded at Lunar. "This was your bright idea. Lead the way."

A Rude Awakening (Alea, Yuros)

Postby Yuros on March 14th, 2012, 4:39 pm

Yuros rose from the bed as well, following Alea's lead as he put on his breeches and boots (Indeed the Kelvic had begun to grow fond of the toe pincers), and finally dawning his cloak. As he dressed, however, his eyes would stray over the child from time to time. The Kelvic watched as the strange creature moved, examined its odd weightlessness and inability to interact with certain objects. Blinking slowly, the Kelvic tried to reason his way to an explanation.

It is not human... Yes, the more Yuros thought the more certain he became. Time and again the Kelvic would sniff the air, and then be puzzled at the boy's lack of a sent. The strange mist, the near transparence... All of these things coupled with this nagging feeling he had in the pit of his stomach spoke volumes to Yuros, Is it... Of the world? Certainly it could not be... What creature of the land of two-legs possess' no scent and can be seen through like a clear lake?

So on Yuros puzzled, always keeping close to Alea, though he could sense no malcontent from the boy. All in all, the Kelvic simply felt an... off feeling from the creature. The hair's on his arms and neck would rise on end at its approach, and whenever ever it tread the air would grow even colder...

Then they were off, venturing forth into the chill of Avanthal, and Yuros was for a moment distracted from his puzzling by the feeling of the Huntress pressing close to his side. One arm fell protectively over her shoulder, adding to his feeling of contentment despite the oddities that the morning brought. No matter what the creature was, it would be of no harm to Alea while he was present.

OOCThis is in Answer to Lunar's question below. The storm is an actual storm, and that means violent winds, sudden strikes of thunder and all of it will occur for several hours (at least I think it will in Avanthal). Look at the Avanthal section of the Wild Djed Storm post for ideas.

A Rude Awakening (Alea, Yuros)

Postby Lunar Scathefire on March 14th, 2012, 9:06 pm

D'oh.. Whys it take girls so long to dress..? Lunar thought, whining mentally to himself as he waited for her and her other companion to get ready. Not sure what to think of Yuros, he had never met the guy and here he was in Aleas room, throwing out the question as he would like to know this mysterious guys name "whos your friend by the way?" As they walked out the door and to the outside cold of wintery Avanthal, answering Alea "because its Morwens festival" grinning as he said it.

Lunars face seemed to scrunge up in envy at the two, the guy could touch Alea no problem and yet Lunar couldn't touch Alea even in the smallest of ways.. Turning, he didn't really want to look at the two if they were doing this and began to lead the way to where the festival would be held "I don't think Avanthal gets very warm Alea, Alea, Alea." Lunar chimed, echoing her name for no particular reason "I've been here a few years, so I would know!" He stated and laughed lightly, not a chuckle but not the same cheery laugh he usually let out.

Looking around him, to avoid looking at the two behind him he began to notice something strange around them. Squinting his eyes, he thought things seemed to begin shrinking around them.. or rather, seemed to be smoother. Maybe it was all apart of his mind so he shrugged it off and turned on his heels to look at them, walking backwards and pretending he was balancing on a rope. The soul mist clung about him as usual, and for a moment.. He stopped, there it was.. A puddle he had just walked through.

Tapping his foot on the small puddle of water curiously, it did not move, Lunar raised an eyebrow at it in disbelief "..thats odd.. Whys there a puddle of water?" Ignoring the obvious that he had just fazed through it inconspiciously "Alea are you a fortune teller?" Lunar joked light heartedly.

OOC :
Not exactly sure how long it would have taken for the melt down to begin. :(

A Rude Awakening (Alea, Yuros)

Postby Alea Davenport on March 19th, 2012, 4:47 am

Alea stumbled after Lunar, still half in a daze. When he asked after her companion, she realized with a start that the two had not yet been introduced. "Oh, er.. Lunar, this is Yuros. He's er... my stag. Yuros, this is my friend Lunar. I forgot you two hadn't met yet." The wind started to pick up and Alea shuddered, wishing she could just stay inside, but knowing that Lunar would make that almost as unpleasant.

The trio walked along through the still-dark streets of Avanthal, mostly just listening to Lunar ramble in his excitement. The eventually found themselves near Morwen's palace, just as the sky was starting to get lighter. Alea had the crazy impression that Lunar wanted to wake Morwen up in much the same manner he'd woken Alea....

At the words "puddle of water," Alea regained just enough of her wakefulness to stare curiously at the suspiciously non-frozen bit of Avanthal. She stepped away from Yuros to get a closer look, strangely no longer feeling the need to have him keep her warm. That was when she heard a huge cracking sound. She'd thought for a moment that it was a thunderclap, but when she looked up at the sky...

It seemed that the bizarre warmth brought on by the wind had melted a sculpture or some sort of protrusion of ice from the wall above them, enough that the ice's weight had allowed it to pull free from the wall... and fall straight towards Alea...

Choosing to stomp harder on the puddle at that very moment, the sky seemed to cackle thunder yet beforehand it did not look as if there had been a cloud in the air. Snapping his gaze up from the puddle to above towards the falling chunk of ice then down towards Alea. Lunars mind screamed "no!" which he mistakenedly yelled outloud also, eyes widening, it happened so fast it was as if he had blinked one moment and was there the next. Pushing Alea out of the way, or so he had thought- shoving with all his might he felt an extreme pain pass through him, rendering him useless on the ground. The soulmist left splintered and dissapearing from his body as Lunar watched Yuros pulled Alea out of the chunk of ices path that very moment.

Staring up to his fate, he saw death, he wished this wasn't happening, this was all a dream. Suddenly he saw a life he once had pass by his eyes, from the moment he could speak as a toddler, his first toy sword, the welcoming of a new member of the family, a fathers kind words, his mothers praise, the moment he had discovered a love for fire and its consequences as such, the bullying, the begging to be allowed to travel with his father, the arguments his parents had on Syliras, right down to the decision his father had made to travel to Avanthal, the depression, the feeling of uselessness, the cold, the wonder of the Vantha stories that had been spun, again to the arguments with his parents; this time on bringing him out into the cold, next to the first exepition, to the next, and the next one after that till finally it was the seventh expidition.

In a heart beat Lunar understood why he could never touch anyone or why he could affect some things and sometimes not, he wanted to touch the world, he wanted to help Alea on her journeys but he was dead... Already dead, the moment the ice had hit him with a crash; he understood, he accepted what was to happen. Feeling a searing pain like he had never felt before. The soulmist detached from him completely, with a scream, a weak one as he couldn't handle this pain. Lunar begged it to stop, within seconds it did, nothing was as it seemed.. He was no longer under the ice, no longer in pain, there he saw Dira ready to guide him to the next life.

A Rude Awakening (Alea, Yuros)

Postby Yuros on May 22nd, 2012, 1:54 am

Yuros sniffed the air, tilting his head and wondering at the strange heat that had begun to fill the city. It seem strange to him that, in this place where ice and snow ruled, the sun's rays could still warm fur. Looking around, the Kelvic aslo began noticing other oddities, occurrences that seemed... out of place.

The air feels... heavy. Yuros glanced down at the path that he walked. The snow, usually compact and firm had grown loose, but with a shrug the Kelvic allowed his mind to wander back to those whom he walked with. His gaze fell once more on Lunar, and despite the warmth of the day the Kelvic still felt a slight chill. This creature, this being of Mist and Cold... It felt...

When Alea pulled away Yuros forgot all thoughts on the creature, choosing instead to focus on his bonded as she broke their link. Strangely, the kelvic felt a bit incomplete without the girls own heat near his own. Every day, more and more Yuros was beginning to notice it. This girl, the Huntress, she was growing into something more to Yuros than he understood. She was strong like those of Tooth and Fang, and yet she was gentle like the blossoms in spring.

Have I truly been tainted so by the two-legs that even my own thoughts confuse me? And why is it that I welcome these taints? The Kelvic scratched his red speckled hair, sighing deeply and looking upon Alea with eyes that held more than simple observation.

The sound of cracking ice startled Yuros, sending his mind buzzing and his instincts taking over his human taint. Muscles tensed and the Kelvic's head whipped around, searching for the source of the sound, and his search brought his eyes upon the falling ice as it made its path directly toward his bonded.

Breath... No thoughts, no hesitation... React.

Yuros let his muscles move of their own accord, sending him forward toward Alea and the falling obstacle. Ligaments and tendons strained as the Kelvic pressed his body to its limits, forcing his body to accelerate faster than ever he had before in human form. He could feel his body protesting the acts, but his will cared not for what his body would say in this moment. In two steps Yuros cleared the distance between them, and the Huntress would find herself rapped up in the Kelvic's tight embrace as he ducked one shoulder to roll forward, out of the path of the falling ice sickle.

Landing with a solid thud, Yuros pressed the Huntress' head against his chest, his eyes searching for any further sources of danger. Seeing none he stood, lifting Alea and setting her gently on the ground. Resting his hands on her shoulders he leaned down to look into her eyes, "Are you ok?"
