Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Just inside the main gates and beside the Gideon Arena lies a huge building that more resembles a hunting lodge instead of one of Riverfall's infamous stone domed structures. The Kuvay'Nas Lodge is an all voluntary milita headquarters that acts as a gathering spot and social club for the members. A main quarters is a low great hall with a blazing fireplace as a centerpiece. Windows align with the wood logs that serve as walls. Animals hang on the walls along with Zithskin and other more nefarious parts. The hall is heavy with mascline influences and contains not only a fully stocked bar but a kitchen that is voluntarily kept well stocked in case meals need to be prepared. Extra equipment is stored in the basement, and there's a dozen rooms upstairs that members can utilize for various life crisis' for short periods of time.

The Kuvay'Nas Lodge is a meeting, greeting and gathering spot for Akalaks all over the city. It also features a prominent sign up board for all patrols, raids and city activities that might require guards. There's also a roster and signup sheet for guard duty, gate duty and escort duty for Nevar. There's generally anywhere from five to fifty Akalaks at the lodge at any one given time. The back yard is set up as targets for archers and there's a large training circle in the center of the archery field also.

While women are allowed to join the Kuvay'Nas, there are very few that do so. The men are overly protective and even stifling of them when faced with raids and hunting. Healers, male and female, frequent the lodge because often the Akalaks injured on raids are too proud to go up and ask for healing themselves.

On any given night one can find a card game, dice, and even storytelling going on at the lodge.

Arrel has been a squad lead almost from the time he passed his rite of adulthood. He has spent a long time with the Intelligence branch, and is the branch commander's go to when it comes to picking out new recruits for the branch.

Often times such recruitment happens during the leaner parts of the year when they need a closer eye to keep the peace. Arrel is usually more than happy to do this and tends to take things a little on the easy side. His other half though is far more strict, demanding quite a bit from new recruits which are often chosen while they are young. It is to that side he goes to when it comes time to get his hands dirty.

Joining The Ranks
There are no prerequisites for joining the Kuvay'Nas other than being competent at one weapon or unarmed combat. Individuals are free to use the location, so long as they've rp'd out voluntary service, any time they like. Raids can be organized by players or Storytellers alike. Guard duty is available at all hours.

[Riverfall Location] The Kuvay'Nas Lodge

Time Stamp: 1st Winter 513

The first snows of Riverfall have not yet fallen, though the air has grown considerably colder. Far colder then even late fall had been, yet there are still enough bustle that it is plain to see that the citizens of this city did not let the cold drive them indoors for too long. Within the Kuvay'Nas Lodge there was the normal mill of Akalak of multiple hues. Greens, blues, Violets, some lighter others darker though there weren't so many that it might seem as if something was amiss.

Instead they joked and chatted easily amongst each other, taking a welcome respite from the day's work to enjoy each other's company. Another Akalak enters from the outside, the light of Syna back lighting him enough that it is impossible to guess the hue of his skin until he moves further in, and one can see the dark green tint in the dark skin tones. His pale blue eyes gaze from beneath his brow, and his features open and friendly though his movements were quiet and controlled. Such was the life of this Akalak, a series of contradictions.

He moved inward, toward a large blue Akalak, sitting in a chair easily for a man of considerable size. The male he sought was Commander Nodorus or perhaps it was Kavinal today, it was impossible for Favchean to tell until he spoke to the man himself. With the dual nature it was sometimes easy for people who knew the Akalak well to tell at a glance which soul was in control by the set of the jaw, the stance or even a certain look in the eye. Favchean's own mother could always tell if it was Favchean or Chealvan just with a glance. She said it was obvious, Favchean tended to be more uptight in his movements while Chealvan more loose and fluid.

"Good afternoon, Commander." Favchean speaks in his normal low pitched grumble, taking a seat near the other. "I come to volunteer for the Kuvay'Nas, I have obtained my Kuvan status," The green Akalak flashed the silvery tattooed mark on his wrist, the silver contrasting nicely with the dark flesh. "I am competent in both unarmed combat and with the dagger."

Favchean

The Commander wasn't hard to find. He was with his men enjoying a break in the chaos that was sometimes their everyday lives. He rose swiftly at the appearance of the newcomer and shook his hand. "And who might you be? I'm Nodorus and my brother is Kavinal. Would you like to come into my office?" The man asked, dispensing with the niceties and leading Favchean past the milling men who all looked the newcomer over with interest, and into a side office with a massive sprawling desk.

"Have a seat. A Kuvan, competent, and willing to volunteer. I just need you to fill out this form." Nodorus pulled a card of pressed paper from a drawer in his desk and handed it to the deep green Akalak and gestured to the ink well and quill on his desk. "Standard stuff.. name age next of kin, interests... we'll put you on the volunteer roster. You can sign up for open guard slots that need to be filled and for squads that are lacking members but want to possibly extend membership to new folks. This is voluntary Kavran position until you get tapped by a Squad Leader and at that point you join a squad and get paid. Once tapped, you'll become a branch Kavran and you can start earning 5 GM a day full time if you'd like. But you'd better be thinking about what branch you want to be in and making nice with those squad leaders and commanders. Volunteer for those more than most and you'll find yourself tapped probably after one or two missions if you are a hard worker. Here are the branches." Nodorus said, tapping to the wall chart behind him.

Nodorus gave Favchean a run down of each branch and then rose to give him a quick tour of the lodge and show him where the sign up sheets were for squads needing volunteers. When he was done, he introduced Favchean around to the men lingering in the Lodge relaxing, and then asked the deep green Akalak if he had any questions.

"Anything else? Are you unclear on any of it or needing some clarification? As a Kavran you have free use of the lodge and equipment and training gear here too. You can use the horses as well so long as you are signing up for Calvary patrol. Everything else should be clear..." The commander said with a smiling, shaking Favchean's hand again.
