Recruitment! [Open]

7th day of Spring 512 AV

Jase walked the streets of Avanthal with his companion Elvyra at his sides. They walked along, looking for billboards where they could nail a pieces of parchment paper with the following words scrawled on them with dark black ink: "Opportunity for coin! Need strong capable men and women! At the Red Diamond, look for man with dark brown hair and kelvic girl with long black hair. Sitting in corner table by fireplace." He kept it as simple and straightforward as he could, the less he said on the advertisements the better chance he would could get new recruits to join his cause with his silver tongue.

'And at least this time he wouldn't be alone' he thought as he glanced at the charming kelvic girl walking by his side. When they were done posting up their flyers, they made their way to the Red Diamond and sat down at the table they had been at the night before. A server came up to them, asking if they wanted to order anything, but Jase quickly waved him away with a flick of his hand, before he even had the opportunity to speak.

He stroked his beard that he had let grow out more so than he had done in a while, thinking about the words and promises he would have to make to convince these people to join his cause.

Recruitment!

Postby Elvyra on March 8th, 2012, 2:25 am

Elvyra fidgeted with her black silk shirt uncomfortably, plucking at her leggings. Dressed all in black, she made for a dark, petite figure, the dark clothes standing out in the pale atmosphere as she walked the streets with Jase. By now, she knew for a fact that Jase Aldaine wasn't the companion she sought, but considering she was staying with him, and he was the only friend she'd met, she'd decided to treat him as such until further notice. Of course, she hadn't informed him of this.

"Here, we can post it here," She said, gesturing towards a board with several other notices pinned up. Once the message was pinned, they returned to the Red Diamond. Wriggling her toes in her black boots, which she found much too restraining, Elvyra followed Jase rather obediently to their table and sat, watching him. He seemed contemplative as he sat there, stroking the coarse stubble along his jaw, his eyes distant.

"What are you thinking about?" She asked him, curiously, after a moment, her silver eyes glancing towards the door occasionally, her small hands restless.

He almost didn't hear her when she spoke to him. He had been rehearsing his lines in his mind over and over again, lost in his own train of thought. Not that he couldn't handle himself if the situation went against his favor, but he liked to be prepared for the worst case scenario. He planned his gestures, his choice of words, very meticulously, wanting to make a good first impression to increase his odds of success. He imagined the different types of people that would eventually show up, his imagination flying in a thousand different directions.

"I'm just thinking about what type of people we might encounter today," he said absently, "no doubt tough mercenaries with absolutely no morals looking for coin. I wonder how they will react when I tell them I barely have any coin to pay them with." he grinned at his own joke, whereas other men in his situation would probably be crying...

Recruitment! [Open]

Postby Banir Ironwood on March 8th, 2012, 3:24 am

A large young man clad within the confines of a lighter spring coat opened the door hood and scarf hiding his face, yet revealing his burning red eyes. They where the eyes of rage but had an uplifting yellow along their rims, giving a slightly happier sense. Standing in a dirty green coat sporting heavy iron shoulder guards and sharp looking armour along his right arm. The hand was a glove of sharp iron metal its features worn and well used. At six foot he had a good head of height but far to bulky for a Vantha. The leather boots that where clad in iron gleaves caused the floor to creak beneath his feet. Holding in his left had a piece of paper he looked about the room.

The flyer had caught his attention, he needed mizas to pay for his trip. The meager amount would pay for a bit but not all. And since the horrid storms that had struck Avanthal he would need as much as he could. What would they offer? Was it easy work? Thoughts like these moved through his mind as he searched for the described people.

Finally spotting the two he awkwardly made his way past patrons and chairs he arrived before the young man and woman. He tried clearing his throat, it almost sounded painful for him to use it. The graveled and rough voice breaking past the white scarf.

"H-hello, m-my name is Banir. Banir Ironwood, I was curious about, work you where offering. It doesn't say, anything detailed." Bowing to the politely he had seemed a little shy but his tone held strong with a subtle anger and uplifting tone. The young man had yet to sit, merely standing before them. With a face shrouded in scarf and shadow it was hard to see anything but his eyes. Awkwardly he awaited a response, the leather creaking lightly against his coat with each movement he made. His Vantha eyes stuck like many others of the north, emotions locked as he gazed upon the couple.
"Where life leads me, is where I shall go. The greater question is, who is willing to accompany me on such a long travel?"

"We'll see," Was all Elvyra said to Jase, settling down to brood and await the arrival of anyone responding to the flyer.

The heavy footsteps alerted the Kelvic first. She perked up, and looked over curiously, her bright silver eyes landing on a man with vivid, burning, crimson eyes. She swept her gaze up and down him, skeptically. When he spoke, his voice was rough and broke often on his words.

She was silent, and simply looked at Jase, cocking a brow as she waited for her companion to speak to the man. She had nothing to do with this, she was simply there because she was accompanying Jase. Though she had to admit, she was curious about the stranger named Banir.

Jase had been so distracted, that he had barely noticed the 6 foot giant looming over them. Despite his intimidating stature, and impressive equipment, Jase hadn't seemed the least bit unnerved by the scarfed man. The hoarse voice, however, took Aldaine by surprise.

The first thing that came to mind when Banir presented himself, were two idiotically simple words: hired muscle. With him by his sides, he figured that Elvyra and him wouldn't have any troubles on the roads. He hoped at least that the man was capable with a weapon of some kind. Yet his size alone was probably enough to scare any thug or bandit away. Providing that the man accepted to follow them on their travels, Jase decided that Ironwood would prove to be a most valuable asset.

"Pleasure," he said, offering his hand and gesturing to the man to join them. He was going to take a very direct path, knowing that his type responded well to that type of conversation."Listen lad, I'm not going to sugarcoat it for you. You look like a capable merc, and I've got a fat coin purse that needs to be lightened." Jase needed people exactly like him for his little family problem and he wasn't planning on saying any more or any less until their business was concluded."Now tell me,Banir Ironwood, what type of services can you provide?" He asked, knowing the answer before the man could open his mouth. It was obvious in which line of work the man was in, and it obviously wasn't a bard hoping to make some coin writing songs about the young Lord...

Stunned for a moment he wavered before nervously reaching out to shake Jase's hand. It took several moments for his mind to catch everything he said. The man before him had simply talked a little to fast for him. Quickly realizing his blunder he quickly took Jase's hand to slowly shake. Though he squeeze gently his rough hands tighten a little too much. He felt sweat dripping on his brow, mercenary work, it was something that didn't exactly appeal to him. Curious he wondered if they would head in the same destination he was going. Letting go of the offered hand he stood a little more upright. A trait diligently learned, it also caused the leather holding his armour in place to entrench upon his coat. Trying to speak again after several moments of silence and careful thought he spoke. Though he was slow he seemed to have more intelligence than the average muscle man.

"That depends, on what your, looking for. Mercenary work can, vary in several, different things. From bodyguards, to raiders, assassins, and other avenues. Oh also.." He trailed off to reach beneath his scarf and rub his throat. It was just a moment then the hand retreated and he was speaking once again. "...I require this, pay to for a trip to, I would like to know. If I am to, be hired I would. Like to know what, I would be doing. Though if you, ask I can handle, myself in a fight. I can always handle a fight."

He had to stop, his throat was sore and he could feel his throat hurting. Only needing to remain keep his emotions under control and relax and throat would then at least feel better. Taking silent long and slow breaths to ease its discomfort.

The scarfed man certainly had a firm grip, to say in the very least. He also seemed a tad bit confused. He would have to slow down his approach and not rush into things too quickly, he decided after all.

"Hungry?" Jase offered, "or maybe a mug of ale for that throat of yours?" He meant no disrespect, but Banir's cracked voice certainly piqued at Aldaine's curiosity. 'Another tale, another time' he thought to himself, knowing that the man would most likely not disclose such personal information to a stranger.

He listened to the man talk, noting his hand discreetly sliding away towards his throat hidden under his white scarf. His croaking voice seemed to get worse progressively as he continued to speak. When he had finished talking, he seemed somewhat ill at ease.

"I meant not to offend you, sir, nor to question your line of work," he explained, this time taking his time to make sure his words were getting across. He also made sure to raise his voice by a few octaves so that Ironwood could actually hear him. The northern patrons were loud as ever, even this early in the morning, laughing heartily as they recounted tales of adventure, battle and even romance by the roaring fire next to them.

"To further elaborate as to why I would need someone of your uniqueness and talent," he made sure to chose his words carefully, not wanting to further annoy or insult the giant in front of him, "We need some muscle for the road between here and Ravok and even further to Nyka and eventually Mura. I need someone to do exactly as I say, and when I say it; when I say 'Jump'! I need you to say, 'How high?'. I don't plan on staying in Avanthal any longer than I need to, despite it's beautiful snowy landscape. If you would be so kind as to accept my offer, and pledge your loyalty to me, we could start to discuss your payment." He stroked a strand of dark brown hair behind his left ear, and took a long and deep look into the crimson blood eyes in front of him, trying to figure out what was going in the man's head.

Elvyra shifted restlessly, baring her fangs in discomfort. She hated staying so still for such an extended period of time. Making up her mind to leave seeing as she was saying nothing to Banir, and it was Jase who wanted to recruit people anyway, she abruptly slid out of her seat, standing in one fluid motion, her movements filled with a lethal grace.

"I'm going back to our room," She said to Jase, shifting her weight, her startling silver eyes glancing around. She'd been staying with Jase ever since she'd joined him. She hesitated, then nodded to Banir, and turned, bounding out of the room, grateful to be outside in the cold air.

Removing a chair from the table the wood squeaked against the floorboards. Sitting down the his seat groaning beneath him as he laid his armoured hand on the table. Waiting a moment for his throat to calm he watched as the woman left, she appeared human and reminded himself of a friend of his. Readjusting himself he prepared to talk. He never lowered his scarf or touched it in order to remove the white wrapped around his lower face. Breaking his silence he spoke.

"I am fine, you're concern is, nice though. Do not worry, there was no, ill will taken, from your words. And someone, of my skills, I see. May I offer a bargain then? I have a small, friend of mine, she will be, accompanying me. I can also, bring a cook, if she can, be convinced." He took a break to slowly breath and calm his throat. As he took another deep breath it was clear it was slightly painful for him to talk.

"They will not need payment. But they will pull, their own weight, as for when it, comes to my, orders. I promise you, two things, I will give my, life to protect , someone but I, refuse to kill, unless necessary. Otherwise I shall, do all that is, required so long, as I am paid, and fed." He had to take several long breaths and steady himself. Awaiting the human's answer he hoped his conditions where acceptable for him. He had to understand that killing another was not something desired. Hopefully Jase would be more open minded about this.

OOCSorry for the lame post guys I'm just tired ish had a long day so...yeah...
