Standing in the middle of the small makeshift arena Etrius leaned against his scythe. He was feeling cocky, more cocky than usual, actually, which was saying a lot. He shook his head from side to side and ran a hand through his hair, using his fingers to mess it up more than it already was. He knew he should calm down - overestimating your own abilities is potentially fatal - but he could not help but be in a good mood today. Leaning his weapon against his own body he took off his vest and tossed it to the side, revealing the long scar running down his chest and abdomen. He wanted to have a little clothing hinder his movements as possible. Plus it was hot and humid, and the stagnant air did little to help cool him down.

Examining his opponent, he found himself wondering at him. It was a monk. Etrius had had a run in with monks before, monks from his opponent's very order. The only reason that he was still participating in this tournament was because the fight against the monks had turned into a fight alongside the monks. He cleared his mind, focusing his attention back on his opponent. He was about Etrius' height although he figured he had more muscle on him than his opponent did. Don’t underestimate him he thought to himself. The monk still looked strong and it was obvious that he had more training than Etrius. Far more.

He raised his scythe high above his head, and brought it back down, holding it in front of him and pointing the wide, dull end of the blade directly at the monk. The long leather strips he used to strap it to his back hung low, dragging on the dusty ground. With his amount of skill, he might as well be swinging a heavy stick at the man, but he could use it to keep his distance from Kassan until he was ready to attack with the bladed gauntlet on his right arm. Try to only punch he advised himself you don’t want to be responsible for cutting him open. Despite the cautions he was taking, he would still fight his hardest.
