Home at Last 25th of Spring 512 AV It had been weeks wince Lilith had seen her mother, or was it months? Lilith didn't know and right now, she didn't care. All she knew was she was about to see her mother again. Her mother's was one of the faces she thought she would never see again, but it was also the one Lilith most desired to see. At night in the slaver camp, when she would curl into a ball and cry herself to sleep, her tears weren't because of the pain of being beaten and raped or the grim outlook her future now had. No, she cried because she was never going to return home to their quaint little house and was never going to see her parent's faces again. But now, now her fantasy was about to come to fruition. As Lilith walked up the long stone staircase toward the Windswept Condos her mind was filled with memories of rooming this area of the city as a child. She hadn't had a place to be or a reason to be there, she simply wanted adventure. Lately, however, Lilith had her fill of adventure and was ready for a quiet meal at home. Quiet once her parents calmed down, that is. In her exuberance, Lilith had failed to notice the that the signs of damage which she had seen here and their through the city were especially prevalent here. In fact, it wasn't even until she reached the front of her former home that she realized that this area of the city had suffered a great deal of damage. Suddenly, and without warning, terror filled her, replacing every happy feeling in her body. Somehow, until now, it hadn't ever sunk in that her home and her family might have fallen victim to the storm's destruction. Lilith rushed to the door of her family's condo and was about to push her way inside when suddenly, she froze. What if there was nothing left behind that door? What if everything she was hoping to see was gone? The thought paralyzed her, and she stood with her hand on the door for longer than even she realized. It wasn't until she heard someone coming up the same steps she had walked up that she was shaken for her fear. Wouldn't it look ridiculous for her to be standing there, afraid to open a door? She quickly pushed the door open and stepped inside, shutting it behind her. The sight in front of her stole the air straight from her lungs. |
