When Ivak was released from his mountainous prison, and the divine storm raced across Mizahar, a strange phenomenon occurred in Mathew's Bay.
Two obelisks, around fifty metres apart, rose up from the water. One black, one white, alligned so that they sat squarely against the city. The sudden displacement of water caused tidal waves to barrage the coastline, but when the storm subsided, the obelisks did not fall back into the water.
Only the black obelisk was known before, a fragment of its cool stone had been secreted in the University Archives, but dark events at the end of Winter led to the fragment being stolen and a professor murdered.
It is believed that the obelisks are artefacts of Laviku, and those that have swam or guided their ships near them can hear the low thrumming of static, and mages can feel a deep seated swirling of djed, locked inside the stone.
The University is currently preparing to send a research team out into the bay to look at the obelisks in more detail. It is likely that there is more to them than the stone at first sight, and time will tell the significance of the fragment theft...
