Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

She grinned. It was a somewhat cruel, evil grin. She pressed her nose close to the ground, but not touching. After seeing him much on the rat, she wanted one. Soon. She picked up pace, her head going sideways, back and forth, trying to pick up even a hint of rat smell. She breathed out, and in. Her eyes closed. She didn't like the hungry feeling she let herself get when she was hunting.

She looked over at the ferret, and her ears twitched. She was hoping he'd be able to catch something that she couldn't.

oocFeel free to back track a bit, I tried to move things along a bit. I can edit if you would rather.

Dex poked his head up as he came around the corner of a building. The night was quiet and dark, almost silent. His nose quivered slightly as he picked up a scent. Working his way around the edge of the building, he found what he was looking for. The rats had dug a tunnel under the wall and through the wood, getting inside the wall. The grass around the hole was well flattened, suggesting a fair quantity coming through from time to time. A perfect place to run down a snack.

Turning his head to spot the ocelot, he saw her looking at him. Not able to think of a better way to tell her what he'd found, he opened and closed his mouth rapidly several times, flashing his white teeth. Then he cocked his head towards the building. Gazing down into the tunnel again, he found it large enough, if just barely, to let him squeeze in. Waiting a few moments before he caught Dallisetria's scent behind him, he crawled down silently on his padded feet into the opening.

The tunnel was pitch black, not that it mattered to John. His nose and ears were his best hunting tools anyway. Moving slowly through the dirt, scrapping his claws against a rock accidentally at one point, he came to where they had chewed through the side of the wall. Poking his head inside, he saw several small droppings littering the floor. Deciding to try and get to the top far corner, he dug his front claws into the stud in the wall, and started the ascent.

About half way up, he'd found a small tunnel chewed through the stud, which he climbed through to find a horizontal stud running to the end of the wall. Deciding the end was his best bet, he scurried across, aware of just how warm he was feeling suddenly. The constricted air in the wall warmed up easily, even in the coolness of the night.

Once at the end, he enacted his plan to send the prey to Dalli. Releasing his scent glands onto the wood, they released into the air, where they would diffuse through easily enough, scaring the rats. Then he started chattering little cute ferret squeaks, hoping it would send them running in fear. Funny, he thought, that something the humans thought was cute, was something that scared rats. He waited a minute or two, emitting a few squeaks from time to time before he decided to return to Dalli's position to see how his run had fared for her.

A small shopping spree (Open)

Dallisetria started to watch every movement the small animal was making. Looking around, peering... she studied it, almost like she were trying to learn from his movements. Maybe she was. He seemed almost like he was seeing something unusual, or maybe something that he found useful. Interesting, maybe? It was hard to read his face when he wasn't facing her. Not that it would be easy to read if he was facing her... He was a ferret, and she was an ocelot. The two species were very different animals. She wondered if he expected her to understand him. She wondered how she had expected him to understand her. It was sort of hard.

He started to look at her, and her ears flicked. Had he seen something? Had she gotten that part right? Her head tilted. She was kind of confused. When he made the weird-looking thing with his mouth, she was quite taken aback. What was he trying to say to her..? God, she was upset. She had never been so confused in her life. She noted to only hunt(in animal form) with other felines, from now on. Unless, this went better than she was expecting. And what she was expected, was an utter failure, or maybe just one more rat.

He made his way into a small hole- one that Dallisetria would never imagine herself fitting into. For that part, she was sort of jealous of the smaller animal. She wanted to go to places that nobody else could, too... She couldn't hear his steps. Not anymore. She blinked. What happened? Then she realized, he must be doing something right. If she couldn't hear, neither could the rats. Unless they could feel the vibrations of his tiny paws, which was unlikely. He didn't weigh very much. She pressed her nose into the opening, smelling, listening.

She heard some scrapes, like claws. She wanted to ask, "Are you okay?" but that would be stupid. It would scare away the rats, and, he wouldn't even understand her in the first place. It wasn't even worth changing two more times for just that. But if he didn't come back out, she would have to.

She suddenly started to hear faint noise, similar to the noises she would make with her tongue on the top of her mouth, in human form, when she was bored. Her ears twitched, as did her nose. What was he doing?

After a few moments, she heard squeaks. Rats?! Had that...scared..them? All of a sudden, she could see small glinting, beady eyes. They were coming right at her. Had they not seen her? Were they so blinded by their fear?- she opened her mouth, and when she felt fur on her tongue, she bit down. She heard cracks, like their bones getting snapped. It felt good, and the blood in her mouth tasted amazing. She did this multiple times, and when she heard a lack of noise, she backed up a bit, and put her foreleg in there, to drag out a few dead rat bodies. She started to drool. She started eating into one of them, waiting for her little friend to come out.

John crawled on out, following the same path back. About to go out the wall into the tunnel, he noticed a rat that had lagged behind when it smelled dead rats infront of it. It hadn't noticed him though, because it was busy waiting for a chance to sneak past the door guard.

He creeped ever slower towards, and then stopped. A clear shot, he pounced, straight into it. His teeth were open, and snapped shut on the taste of fur, and shook hard. Forgetting about the confined space he was in, the rats head smashed into the wall, being stunned. Feeling the rat fall limp, he dropped it on the ground and then took his typical death bite on the neck, before he picked it up in his mouth again.

As he crawled out of the tunnel, he heard Dalli satisfying herself on her prey. He came forward, and spat out his own rat in her small pile. Not being a very big animal, and an even smaller stomach, it didn't take much to satisfy his hunger, all though he had to eat often. He did sneak a bite of the rat he'd brought, before nudging it in front of Dalli for her, and waited for her to enjoy the feast.

Her eyes hungrily ate at the rats, as her mouth was, too. Her head was thinking, on to the next one, the next one, the next one, repeatedly, although her mouth was just now at the end of the first rat that had been killed. After she had ate the meat till the bones were skinned, clean and somewhat a white color, she went on to the next one. Her mouth went slower as she looked up at the rodent-resembling creature, which was apparently more related to badgers, and skunks... He passed to rat over to her. Her ears flicked, and she was confused. Why wasn't he eating? Then, she realized, his stomach is smaller. Of course.

She looked at the rat she was just about to eat, and thought about it. She blinked, and then yawned. She was still hungry, but only slightly, and she felt much stronger and awake now. She decided to save it- both of them- for later, for the two of them. Two rats saved for later, two hungry animals to eat them, later.

She picked them both up with her jaws- this was not hard, for even though they were both much bigger than the mice she liked eating often, her mouth was just bit enough to hold them by her teeth. She turned, and started back for where they had both started. Where she'd met the ferret, and where she'd woken him up. She just wanted to hang out, now. Her tail flicked at him, saying, come on, come on. She was quickly paced on her way there.

John watched as she devoured a rat, and then started a little bit on a second one. She then picked them both up, and pounced through the slightly damp dewed grass back to where they'd come from, her tail flicking to and fro, her fur a startling contrast from the black darkness that was there. Not that darkness mattered to him much, since he went by scent paths more then anything else.

He padded after her, his feet silenced mostly by his soft pads against the ground. After getting into a good jogging pace to compensate for her longer legs, she led them back to where they'd met, and where they'd left their clothes. He stretched out his front legs, followed by his back, before curling up and lightly licking the dew that'd pressed onto his fur, letting the water clear his mouth before looking up to his ocelot friend, thinking of what to do next.

When Dallisetria stopped, turned around, and looked at the ferret, her eyes were glistening with pride. How they hunted was better than she had ever remembered hunting, and it was a magnificent feeling she had. It was fluttery, and she felt smug. Not in like a conceited way, but... very proud. She sat down the rats happily, sat back on her haunches, and looked over at him. She looked at her belongings, and then at his, and sighed. There was really nothing left to do now, other than change back and discuss everything they had done during their short hunt. The strategies they had used, and the way they had communicated... she looked up at the sky, and then changed back with her eyes closed.

When she was back human, she didn't bother looking at the male. She put her clothes back on, adjusted the shortbow on her back- making sure to keep the latches tight- and sat back down where she was just a minute ago. She shrugged her shoulders, and then spoke aloud, though quieter than she usually spoke- "I think we did really well. Don't you?"

John watched as she just stared at him for a moment, before flashing into her human form. Following suit, he pulled his clothes on and sat down next to her.

"Indeed. It's much easier with two. If you ever need a snack, just call me huh?"

John said this with a grin and a small light chuckle. Then he sat back and rested on the grass, stretching out some of his human limbs, before sitting back up.

"Any idea's now for more excitement?"

In all honesty, he couldn't think of anything. He generally didn't stay up most nights, not wanting to have issues with owls. That and when he did, it usually wasn't with someone else, which opened up more opportunities, but ones he didn't normally think of.

Dallisetria laughed, and nodded at the same time, fully agreeing on that idea. "Totally," she had laughed, "always." she eyed the rats they had caught, and then the thought of eating them clawed at her stomach. But she reminded herself, no, that it was hard enough to hunt by herself. That she should not waste it on a near full belly. She flashed a big, white grin at the boy.

She watched his movements, the way he chuckled, and his laying back and sitting upright again. She wandered why he had done that. There wasn't any point- they weren't about to fling themselves at more rats again. Where they? Even though she enjoyed hunting, she surely hoped they weren't. She didn't like doing the same thing over and over again.

She listened to the last sentence he said. He had asked what they could do, now. She shrugged. "I don't know," she admitted. She looked up, thinking about the opportunities, and then looked back at him. She ruffled her hair, with her right hand, and belched. "Hah, that's attractive.." she mumbled. In all honesty, she hadn't thought it was unattractive, but she hadn't thought it was an attractive action either. "I guess we could go bird watching or something," she said lamely.

John laughed with her as they tried to figure out what to do. He racked his brain, and came upon such a simple solution it was almost silly he didn't think of it before hand.

"I got an idea. Follow me."

He leaped up to his feet and picked up his juggling balls he'd left around him. Then he set a somewhat brisk pace deeper into the park, but making sure Dalli kept up with him. Leading them towards a large statue in the park, he walked past it to the tree his recently bought tree blind was in.

Tossing the juggling balls up inside carefully, he then backed up a bit. Then, hoping for his acrobatics skills to kick in, he picked up from speed towards the tree. Before he ran into it, he brought a foot up and pushed against the tree hard. Ending up pushing himself up towards the tree blind, though somewhat unsteadily, he snaked his hand out for the rope coiled just inside the edge before he fell to the ground. Good news, he got the rope. Bad news, he started falling right towards Dalli. He wondered for a second which he would prefer, Dalli being a softer landing pad but getting hurt, or Dalli moving out of the way and him landing on the ground getting hurt. To bad he didn't have time to think of an answer before one of the two happened.
