Goals, Merits, and Flaws Goals IC: -Maedoc has no real ambitions as of right now, his mind is consumed with the tragedy of his past and his hateful obsession with how unfair his existence is. But since escaping the mine, he has become more forward thinking and is beginning to recover and look to the future. That said, he has few long term goals. Short Term -Find a new and profitable way to make money. -Get away from Sunberth. -Find new compatriots to replace his old gang. Long Term -Kill Syliran Knights. -Find and destroy organized Zith slavery in Sylira Region. Goals OOC: Short Term -Achieve a Gnosis from a god, preferable an evil one. -Join the Ebonstryfe. -Create long term relationships, both good and bad, with other Sylira Region PCs. -Find an organization (Ebonstryfe preferably) that can replace the Syliran Knights in Maedoc’s mind and create a newfound motivation within him. The idea behind this is that the Syliran’s shunned Maedoc and his father for the very same traits that the Ebonstryfe value, so he will dedicate himself to that evil armada as a sort of retaliation. Long Term -Develop Maedoc’s inability to cope with his past and how far down the road of evil he has fallen. Probably going to find some way that he can pretend his messed up morals and ideals are correct and become fanatically obsessed with convincing others or punishing them for being different. -Achieve priesthood in a religion. -Destroy a rival god’s temple or shrine. -Struggle with a conscience Maedoc is afraid to admit he has. -Achieve promotion in Ebonstryfe. -Learn how to manipulate djed e.i. (Malediction, Reimancy, Leeching, whatever) Merits and Flaws: Realistic(+): Maedoc takes everything at face value and does not delude himself about anything, including his own abilities. If you are a better combatant he will not deny it. He may not admit it out loud, and he may still fight you, but he will not convince himself he is the better. Most of this characteristic stems from his father’s old habit to continuously berate him and blame him for their misfortune, keeping the youth’s self-esteem very low. Resentful(-): Maedoc has a long and emotionally masked memory. If he thinks you preformed some slight on him, intentional or not, he will remember it and let it fester. Often he will lash out at you either immediately in some brash way, or later in some sinisterly planned way that only he could justify. He may take offense to things said that had no intention to offend, and he may draw conclusions that are heavily embellished by his own anger and bitterness. Brave(+): Though not honorable or valiant, Maedoc has a sort of defiant bravery when placed in stressful or dangerous situations. His anger fuels it for the most part, almost daring the world to cause him more ill-fortune and see how little it affects him. He has a self image of being a creature of malevolence out of necessity. Mizahar’s harsh realities dictated his equally harsh soul, and he draws strength from that. If he was strong enough to survive slavers and Zith then he won’t let himself be too weak to survive whatever comes next. Though his staunch bravery stems for emotionally corrupt roots, it is still bravery. Rude(-): Maedoc will be quick to ridicule someone for an oddity or failure but would never admit failure himself. He rarely ever gives complements, and usually only to further his own ends. Though he would not lie and lessen someone else's achievement, he would be perfectly fine with completely ignoring it. He treats everyone he meets with the same cold manner, unless they prove themselves just as resentful of the same things as he is. He would never pretend to be interested in anything someone has to say simply to be polite, often walking away or interrupting a boring acquaintance. |
