Enjoying the enviroment (Kalix)

Date: 66 Spring 511 AV

Bella woke up to the sun just starting to appear on the ocean and skyline. She rolled onto her side a gazed upon Kalix who was sleeping soundly next to her. Bella knew that she only had a few hours of good light avalible to her to get some hunting in. With this though she climbed out of bed and let her sleeping cloak slip to the ground. She walked naked over towards the chair and got dressed into her tunic,belt and boots. Her hair was still tied up from the night before and after sorting out a few loose strands, she felt ready to go and face the outside world. Tip-toeing quietly over towards the bed she lightly kissed Kalix on his forehead. With this done she headed to the door picking up her bag and dagger on the way, exiting the room she closed the door quietly behind her.

Outside the city was still quiet and dawn was still about half and hour away from bracking completly. Bella glanced down towards the crafting cottage and saw from a faint glow someone else was up early and working on a hobbie. The streets were quieter still as the local children had yet to rise from their beds. Bella was heading out of town towards the small patch of forest that clung to this winter wonderland. It took her no more then 30 minutes to reach the border of the forest. Once she was their she went into hunter mood, with her eyes never staying in one place for to long.

Bella hadn't been hunting for long when she heard a sudden 'crack' come from behind her. She reached down her left side and quickly grabbed the dagger from her belt. She turned to her left and darted towards the nearest tree. She crouched down and began to feel the adreniline strarting to pump around her body. She peeked out from behind her tree and saw a magnificant caribou making its way towards her location. Bella placed her back against the tree and listerned out to her the animal moving closer and closer. When she heard that it was no more then five paces away she spun around the right side of the tree and with her fingers clenched tight around the daggers hilt, she jumped out on the animal and aimed her dagger towards its back legs.

Kalix ran as fast as he could. His heart raced, his palms were sweaty. Running from half caribou, half Bella, he made his way as fast as he could across the barren purple land. The sky was black, an endless pit of nothing. Kalix stopped, his legs frozen as if zapped with something. Behind him, the Bella caribou came trampling toward him, leaving him screaming in bed.

Panting, he sat up a little, dressed in nothing more than pants. He leaned on his elbows, calming down a little.

It was all a dream.

Kalix smiled. Bella hadn't really been half caribou, Kalix hadn't really died. It was all a dream. Wait, Bella? Kalix looked over to where she would be sleeping. He started panicking, only to realize that she was probably out on her daily hunting. The girl seemed to like it. Kalix smiled. What a strong girl.

Kalix sighed, and with a heave pulled himself off the bed. He felt groggy and tired. He stood up, and slipped off his pants, ready to do some morning grazing. Kalix headed out the door and down the streets, into the wild and finally shifted. He stood a large caribou, with large antlers. Stepping out into a grassy field, he made his way around its outskirts until he found a perfect little patch of grass. Kalix was about to put his head down in feast when all of a sudden a girl leaped out from the forests with a knife.

Kalix reared, his front legs up in the air. He started running into the middle of the field, hoping to get away from this threat. Once he reached the center, he shifted once more. He looked at the girl, standing naked. His pupils grew 3 times smaller. The girl who came after him was Bella.

He immediately put his head down, eyes full of sadness. Bella had tried to kill him.

Bella stood in utter shock, her fingers still wrapped around the daggers hilt. She couldnt belive what had just happened, she felt sure that she wouldnt miss the shot therefore hindering the animals escape. When she saw the animal transform into a person she had turned away, thinking the early morning light was playing tricks on her. When she felt strong enough to look up her worst fears were confirmed.

Standing not 200m from her was Kalix in all his glory, the sun cascading over his beautiful body. The body that not one hour ago she had woken up next to. The body that she held at night, the body that made her feel alive even in the darkest hour.

She couldnt move couldnt speak. Even from this short distance she could tell that her was emotionally hurt. She herself could not describe the range of emotions she was feeling. Some how she managed to take a few tentative steps towards him not daring to take her eyes off him yet wishing with all her heart that he would just disapper. One...two.....three more steps she took, the whole time the world seemed to be pressing down on her. Finally she was a few steps from him. She looked down at her own hands and on seeing the dagger she flung it on the forest floor, rage and discust were the only emotions she could pin point at the time.

Her mouth was dry so dry she was sure that it would never recover the ability to speak again. Her brain was going a million miles an hour trying to find something anything to say to her lover. " I...I.....I didnt know. I didnt know." With that Bella gave up talking and just let heavy tears fall from her eyes, she fell to her knees at his feet crying as if it were the only thing in the world she would ever do again. The tears were not going to give up but her blood was way ahead of her and she could tell that when she looked back up into his face her eyes would no longer be ruby red.

Kalix stood in awful terror as the girl he once knew seemed to give up. He didn't know what to think. He was pretty upset too. Why was she? His first thought was he was kelvic, but, it didn't matter. His second thought was she tried to kill him, and that had to be it. Kalix's gut told him that, and he was one to always trust his gut.

His eyes now filled with tears too, he dropped next to Bella and sobbed with her. More of a comforting move rather than his own feelings. Through wet eyes he whispered, "Its okay, it's okay." He kissed her on the forehead, knowing eventually she would calm down.

Kalix put his arm around her, in more relaxation. If the kiss didn't work, this certainly would. Bella loved him. And Kalix loved her. He continued to whisper, "It's okay.", but gave up, and said, "Don't worry."

Bella accepted his touch and leant her body into his. She realised after some time that she was no longer crying and rub her eyes with her hands, to clear away the remnents of the emotions she had just let consume her. She pulled back away from him and took both his hands in hers. She kissed each one softly and then placed their hands into her lap. She looked long and deep into his eyes and spoke.

"Kalix I didnt mean to do that, I didnt realise that you could do that. I was just shocked to see a caribou in these parts and I though it would make a great cloak or bedding or somthing. So I went for it. Had I known that it was you I would never ever of thought to kill it". She bent her head down and studied the ground around them. Looking back up into his face she spoke again " Why didnt you tell me that you could change? I though that we didnt keep anything from each other. It makes me sad to think you couldnt trust me with the whole you. I love you and everything about you, why would you think you changing would affect that?"

To show how much he meant to her and how him being a Kelvic didnt matter she kissed him on the lips with everything she had. Drawing back she placed her forehead against his and wispered "Nothing you can do will ever change how I feel about you"

Kalix put his head down in utter shame. He was speechless. Why hadn't he told Bella She was right, they never kept anything from each other. Had he known it would end up like this, he would have told her. But now that it has happened, Kalix realized their relationship might never be the same. His eyes blinked with tears, this time for real. He would not let them drip, he was a man, strong.

No he wasn't. Kalix was a caribou.

He kissed Bella hands back, and with a great deal of effort whispered, "I didn't think it mattered before Bella, and I'm sorry for not telling you. But now, I know that it does. It effects who I am. But, it doesn't effect what we think of each other. I love you, and that will never change."

Kalix realized after spilling his thoughts like that to Bella his eyes weren't full of tears anymore. He sniffed his nose, and stroked Bella's long black hair.

Bella always loved it when he touched her hair. It felt natural to her for him to be allowed the honor of touching it. She had always been very protective of her hair going to the lenghts of always having it tied up into a braid. He was the only person to have touched it in years, the last person being her mother when she was a child.

Bella stood and let Kalixs left hand drop from hers. She was ready to go back into the town and try and move on from this day. Still holding his right hand in her left she spoke " I think we sould be getting back, Im not sure how long we have been out here but the sun has moved a great deal and looks to be setting soon."

Out of the corner of her eye she saw a flicker of light and realised that her dagger was still lying on the floor where she had thrown it hours before. Looking back at Kalix she took a breathe and asked " Am I allowed to bring this back with me?" It was a stupid question she knew and he had no right to say what she could and couldnt own but somehow Bella felt that after nearly harming him with it, he had a right to be afraid of it and afraid of what she could do with it.

Bella was now thinking that today was the first time in a long while that Kalix had seen her hunt. She normally went on her own and if the hunt wasnt going to plan she would spend the time praying to God Morwen.

Kalix smiled at Bella, and let her enjoy his strokes of hair. He always enjoyed her hair, it was frizzy, but beautiful. Just like Bella. He took a deep breath and put his the hand he touched her hair with in his lap, while holding Bella's hand in his other.

When Bella asked him about the knife, he couldn't help but let out a hardy laugh. It was a dumb question, but also an honest one. Sweet as well. He couldn't blame Bella, number one because she was caring like that. Two, he probably would have asked the same question as well. What he thought of the question, well, of course she could keep it. It was a common mistake. Many people thought he was regular animal.

"Of course Bella." he said with a smile. He stood up, hand still in hers, and started to walk back to town. But of course he realized that if she rode him, the trip would be much quicker and easier. He stopped, and turned his gaze toward her. Her eyes were beautiful and pretty, and when he looked at them, all he saw was himself.

"DId you want to ride me? It will make the journey a lot easier."

Bella looked at him with the wonder of a child. A sly smile crossed her lips and she slunk back into a very childish mode. Suddenly the last few hours didnt seem so bad and she started twirling around her arms high above her head, hands clasping towards the final strands of sunlight. Laughing so hard she felt new tears on her checks, but far different from the ones that had appered earlier.

When she stopped to catch her breathe she stood looking at him and just said "I though you would never ask". She walked towards him throw her arms around him and planted a soppy kiss on his right check. She knew that Kalix was different and now she knew how much so. It didnt matter to her he was worth so much more to her now. She almost felt that everything to this point didnt matter.

Bella released Kalix, took a few steps back and bent to retrive her dagger and placed it in her belt. With joy in her voice she said "what are you waiting for?". Whilst she waited she felt she needed to do something different too, so she started to un-tie the leather strips that held her hair in place. After a few swift hand motions she let it tumble down over her shoulders and down her back. When it was all down she brought the end over her shoulder and started to comb it with her fingers. Smiling at him the whole time. Wondering how one man could bring out such emotions within her.

Kalix smiled at the sight of the girl swirling around, her face filled with joy and fun. He was dazzled at how graceful and happy she was, and wondered how in Mizahar she was so perfect. But he knew. She was Bella. Bella was perfect. He smiled and walked over to her, planting a kiss on her cheek and saying, "You really are perfect."

Kalix shifted, changing him into a majestic, strong caribou. His antlers were large, making them a nice spot for Bella to hold onto. He whinnied, and his brown eyes looked into her red. He smiled. They were so beautiful. He waited until she was on his back.
