Birthday & Age : The 43th Day Of Summer 489 AV (23 years old) Gender: Male Race: Human Physical Description Marin stands about 5 feet 11 inches tall. He is muscled as an athlete would look, fairly skinny, yet still thick enough to perform well. He has a light tan but not pale skin. He has green eyes that matched his mothers perfectly when she was alive. Marin’s hair is a deep rich brown that falls to his ears, and contrasts his skin well. Marin's face is angled, and sharp. He normally dresses regular clothing, sometimes inhabiting hunters gear. |
Character Concept Marin is a generally quiet type of person, and mostly a lonesome person. He is subtle with his words, and when alone quite the adventurer. He likes to talk to himself in the forest, and sometimes to the trees. In cities, Marin could easily get lost (he knows Zeltiva well enough), for his sense of direction seems only to work in the realm of nature. Marin often finds unseen beauty in the simple living of life, and sees things differently than most people. Marin values nature, as his father taught him to do, learning that since his early childhood. Ever since his young ages, he has held on to this value. Through childhood and now to adulthood nature has always been his second father. Nature was as big a teacher as his father was to Marin. Marin’s mother, in dying seemed to show Marin to never trust the concreteness of the world. Marin believes that the fact that she died (and now that his father has disappeared also contributes to this statement) proves that the world is failing, and that you can’t always believe everything. Marin Likes: Learning (especially from his father), nature, hunting, talking to plants (even though they may not talk back), "People Watching" Marin Dislikes: Loud bustling cities, large groups of people, crowded areas, music, dirty streets |
Character History Around 22 years ago, Marin was born. Marin’s parents lived in Zeltiva for three years previous, his father a teacher at the University. Marin’s father was a starting professor, rising through the ranks to the time when Marin was 15, being one of the many teachers of nature in the University. Marin learned much from his father, about the nearby forests, the lay of the land, and much about the local nature that surrounded the city. His father taught him to hunt, and to explore, and to enjoy the nature and life that lived in the forests around Zeltiva. By the age of 9 Marin’s mother had come down with a deadly disease, and by the time he was 10, she died. Marin often fended for himself as his father was teaching for most of the day. As an only child, this was simple for Marin, exploring to keep time, finding food to keep hunger at bay. His father would come home, and ask about his explorations, feed him a simple meal, and put him to bed. It was as good as any childhood as he could ask for, with the exception of the death of his mother. If Marin had to describe his childhood, it would be sad, and simple. When Marin was 12, his father taught him to use his bow to hunt. In the forests, Marin was as keen as an animal, always knowing his way around, following the paths and directions of the animals. His father had always said “One day, you will be glorious monster!” referring to his keen sense of hunting. Marin always laughed at that remark. When Marin was 17, his father came up to him one day, and held his bow in front of him. “Go be the glorious monster and get us some dinner!” his father had said. Marin understood; the gift of the bow sort of like a rite of passage to the world. His father was slowly declining the physical standard to hunt anyway. Marin’s whole life, he had had a successful relationship with his father and childhood friends. Oddly one night, Marin came home to an empty household, and days later, still nobody arrived. Weeks later it was the same. Two months later assuming he was dead, Marin sold the house, and moved to the edge of Zeltiva, away from the area and memories of his childhood. NOW Now he lives in a small cottage to the north side of Zeltiva, almost outside the city, but not far enough into the wild that it would be considered dangerous. He has easy access to hunting, but the center of town, and the shipyard are far from his residence. Now he looks for clues about his father’s disappearance, or possible death, and would like to find out why his father would end up like he did. Marin wishes that both his parents were still around, but knows that the likeliness of that happening is slim. |
