character concept
Quick to smile and always searching for ways to share that smile with others, Tacheyo is not as somber as many of his race are assumed to be. He is a bright, refreshing drink in the heat of the day, happy to laugh and sing and drum and tell stories in order to encourage and brighten the spirit of others. He is the son of a drum-maker, the grandson of a drum-maker, and a performer at heart. He's a smooth-talker, charismatic in the way an only entertainer can be, practicing his arts both in honoring his people through music and in bartering with the Benshira he often has contact with.
Tacheyo loves to move the spirits of his people through rhythm and song. Playing and making drums are his willing service to his tribe, not necessarily because he is a terrible hunter but because he recognized his talent and his calling early on as a child. Through music, he feels a strong connection to Eywaat, preserving the strength of his people through uplifting their spirits and keeping their memories alive. He also feels his connection to Makutsi, sustaining the hope of his people through the joyful refreshment of dance and song. He thinks very highly of his purpose, regardless of his talent, and loves to share what he enjoys with others through whatever means necessary.
He takes special meditative joy in creating instruments for himself or other musicians, though he has never yet been willing to sell an instrument outside of his race. They are the heartbeats of his people, not toys to be bought and sold for the entertainment of other races who don't understand.
While unable to tell the sacred stories of his people like an Abayla, he holds them in high respect. The music and stories he can tell are treasures to him, and he considers his role a compliment to the women who keep the history of his kind in their hearts.
Tacheyo considers himself fierce and strong like the rest of his people, but has come to recognize that hunting is not his strength. His movements are just as lithe, but not deadly. He is capable of hunting for himself and defending himself if he needs to, but he usually prefers to find more creative ways out of dangerous situations whenever possible.
If he finds himself frustrated or without inspiration, Tacheyo is prone to solitude in the desert, often for days at a time. He often prayerfully seeks the counsel of the wise gods that have preserved his people, and feels as though they often leave signs to inspire him again when he takes the time to look for them in the quiet, isolated places of his harsh homeland.
