Physical Description Name: Taletha Virain Race: Human Age: 17 Birthday: 64th Day of Autumn, 494 AV Physical Appearance Taletha stands at around 5'6". She has long black hair that falls a few inches past her shoulders, and bright green eyes. She has fair skin and fine features, and often has a haughty air around her. Personality and Traits Taletha is not a very easy person to pin down. On the outside, she appears to look down on everyone around her, as if she thinks herself above them. She can be aloof, and doesn't often talk to people around her, especially those that she thinks are 'beneath' her. If someone were to describe Taletha offhand, they might call her a social climber, an attention seeker, or just plain full of herself. Taletha, of course, would call herself none of these things. She would say that she had a strong drive to achieve and a slight rebellious streak, and that she was an independent person who thought for herself. All of those things, however, are manifestations of her inner desire to prove herself. Taletha is someone who grew up feeling like she was being looked down on. She wants to be the best at everything, because she wants the people she cares about to be proud of her. Thus, in spite of her somewhat uncooperative attitude, Taletha is an incredibly hard worker. She doesn't back down from a challenge and usually puts all that she has into what she does. Likes and Dislikes To be added as they are established Character History Taletha grew up as the eldest child of a successful merchant family. While her father would often travel Mizahar to trade, she, her mother, and later her brother remained in Zeltiva. As a child, it was always incredibly obvious to her that her father never wanted a daughter--he wanted a son to be his heir. Despite this, she studied frantically, hoping to prove herself to him and take over the business when he retired. She became skilled at mathematics and negotiation, learned how to persuade those around her, learned enough tradespeak to be able to converse in it, and even studied fencing so that she could protect herself. For a while, it seemed to work. Her father seemed proud of her achievements, although slightly disinterested, and would brag about her to his friends when they would go out for drinks. But the older she got, the more she understood that her achievements were nothing more than things that he could brag about. He never intended to allow her to use them--she was in essence a trophy child. This became clear when her father took her younger brother on as an apprentice in early spring, completely bypassing her. In mid-spring, the two of them got into a heated argument about her brother's appointment, but her father would not be moved on the issue. Arguments became more and more frequent at their house, and her father would often threaten to throw her out. That was when Taletha heard about the deal struck between Zeltiva and Syliras. Zeltiva would provide fifty recruits to the knights in exchange for food. Unhappy with her present situation and finally realizing that her father would never allow her to inherit, she decided to sign up for the trade. Her mother seemed concerned when she told her about the decision and tried to talk her down, but her father was surprisingly pleased with it, saying that it would be good publicity for one of their children to go along with the plan. He bought her a new rapier and sent her off with his blessing. Taletha accepted the rapier, but ignored the blessing. She would have gone with or without his approval, she decided. It was high time she thought for herself. Possessions Starting Package :
