Physical Description

Image
During the Day: Ethaefal by day, Lilium has the constant touch of autumn to her features, eyes the color of molten golden amber. Her hair is the color of red autumn leaves in the prime moment of their change, falling in silken waves to her waist. Horns a rich orange-gold, skin the soft golden tan of apple cider. When the sun catches her skin, it shimmers slightly in faint tones of rose gold and copper. She is taller in this form, with softly sculpted features. (5'11")

During the Night: Konti by night, Lilium has platinum blonde hair that falls in loose curls around her face and onto her shoulders. Her skin is pale and shimmers in the moonlight where it reflects of her scales. Her eyes are a pale blue, like shards of ice broken from the depths of the deepest chasm. She is a slight creature, and of an average height. (5'4)

Character Concept

Lilium is an aloof and curious creature. As a konti, she smiles and engages conversation easily enough. She loves to sing and involve herself in social events, and eats like a horse when she gets the chance, missing the taste of food and drink when she is in her horned form. Her smile is infectious even if sometimes she can be caught staring into the distance, lost in her own thoughts.Image

As an ethaefal however, Lilium is a melancholy soul. She is listless and often seems to be caught in her own strange world, her words often senseless or unfathomably deep. She seems to hate herself, hating her own reflection caught in a mirror or window. Often she will spend her day wandering the world, caught impeccably under Syna's gaze. Something about her words and her manner indicates that Lilium's fall from grace and endless wandering across the frustratingly small Mizahar has affected her. Deep within, simmering just below the surface, Lilium has lost her grip on sanity. Occasionally, it bursts forth with violent and macabre consequences.

Character History

Among the first few of her people to fall from the heavens when the world had finally begun to emerge from its hiding, Lillium first woke in the churning and frothing sea of the Konti Isle, struggling against the violent waves of a still settling world. Leth's light bathed her birth, and crawling to the sands of the beach garbed in her konti mask, the fallen creature was welcomed into the arms of the pale-skinned women that fished off the shore. They dried and dressed the woman, claiming her as one of their own and asking her questions beyond her answering. Where was she from, why was she almost drowning in their Laviku's own waters, who was she?

Indeed, who was she?

Snippets of memories came to the konti as she tried to answer. Visions of a woman, beautiful and pale and a man with stormy eyes and fierce hair...peace and serenity...the bright vivid light of the Sun bathing her skin and warming her very soul....death and destruction...violent storms and boiling lava. The visions assaulted her like blows to her being, and the woman cried. She remembered the love and warmth of Syna's presence, and the feeling of belonging with beings of wisp and whim. She remembered sitting at the feet of her Goddess, singing songs of love and praise and worship in bell-like voice with her brethren. She remembered the crushing, tearing feeling of falling - breaking away from their kinship and unable to hold on. Falling, falling....smashing into the tumultuous ocean as though it were made of stone. Weary, the woman slept.

Night slowly turned to day, and as it did, Lillium awoke to find herself shifting and changing - her sisters drew from her in fear and awe. Finding her features in a mirror, the konti was horrified to see her now horned ethereal features. Golden like the autumn leaves, the fallen creature ran from the confines of her sister's lodgings and greeted the sunlight screaming. She fell to her knees and cried out her anguish at the heavens. She knew who she was, and she had fallen far from home. Flesh and blood, mortal in more ways then she could want, the ethaefal could feel the body dying all around her. A rotting meaty hell encasing her soul and separating her from Syna and her love. What cruel punishment was this? What evil had she wrought that Syna would banish her so? Crying and begging, the golden being called out to be welcomed home, to be raised back to Her warm arms.

Her cries echoed loudly on an empty beach.

Anger welled in the autumnesque woman, wrapped in anguish and confusion. Her mind could not bare this hell, this eternal rotting tomb. Yet, if she killed herself, she would only find herself lost even more so than now. And to seek her own death would be an extension of self-extermination itself. Damn Syna. Damn her betrayal and her exile. Staring out across the ocean, the ethaefal found herself lost in thoughts. Memories twisted and fragmented, emotions sweeping through her. She cried, she laughed. Sometimes she simply sat limply staring at the waves. The sun lowered, and set, lowered and set - how many times she didn't know. Her body moved like liquid gold, paling and scaling. Konti once again, she rose to her feet. In this form she felt...real. She felt less pained. As though it was a comfort to be so distanced from her horned beauty.

Returning to her frightened sisters, the konti soothed their fears. She gave them a name, the starry formation that she had seen as she broke through the choppy waters. Lillium. The pale skinned being spoke of her memories. Scattered as they were, she remembered some of her life before. She had been one of the first, an ancestor to these women. A bard, like their mother Avalis before them, Lillium sang for her clan. Their lives had been simple, peaceful. Laviku sheltered his children from the oceans as they grew and learned. He taught them to fish and to survive, passed down generations. Lillium knew of the love between Leth and Syna - and the strength of the Golden Woman. She dedicated her life, her songs, her very soul to the vibrant deity. Then, the ethaefal died, with no daughters of her own. How or why, she couldn't see, but then she had been sheltered and warm. She had seen the face of Syna. The she had fallen.

Fallen.

Thanking her sisters, the ethaefal realized that she could never stay with the konti. Her past tugged at her heart - even more so as she realized that Laviku and Avalis were not walking among them as they had when life first started for the konti. This was not her home anymore. Dressed in white, wrapped around her in the style of her former Goddess, Lillium left the Isle of Konti and traveled the world. By night, she sang for her supper, sweetly breaking the hearts of even the most hardened men. By day, she wandered in a daze. Her golden features drew people to her, thinking her a deity among them. Sometimes she spoke with them, her words often strange and confusing. Or dark and violent. Sometimes she simply passed them by.

There was a time, between the past and the present, where the ethaefal had fallen in love. The ever standing city of Zeltiva is where they met. A man, whom held back the demons in her mind and stilled the ache of abandon and rejection. He was everything she needed to keep her grounded, and for a time, there was peace. But in the seeming blink of an eye, the sands of time stole him away from her. Hair whitened and skin wrinkled, Lilium buried him beneath a weeping willow and with him, the tentative hold on her sanity. She fled the city.

Her tenacious grip on sanity lost, the ethaefal found herself in dark times. Bloody, violent times. Lost in her memories, disjointed from reality. She spent time with the Myrians, covered in the blood of races now lost, eyes glazed over and hands stained red. She wandered through the charoda as they first reclaimed the shores, tearing tentacles and limbs from wet bodies with tears of anguish and violence. She watched from afar as Myrian Coglias defeated a creature born of chaos and took his place atop the mountain that would become the symbol of his people. She heard whispers of a dark organization, a people of the Black Sun, and for a time she entertained the thought of joining them. Her days blended into one another, over and over, for years beyond tally. Her nights were times of relief and celebration, and eating. So much food and drink she felt she would explode, relishing the tastes before Syna robbed her of this small pleasure the mortals so took for granted. As a konti, she is horrified by her violent outbursts and hates her daytime self.

And now, Lillium finds herself seeking somewhere new, somewhere she hasn't seen. Impossible for a creature with her lifetime...but it doesn't mean she can't try. Any travel, any distraction to keep the darkness in her at bay.
