URGENT Reodin Lisden Diamond Clan URGENT Reodin, As my oldest brother, I bequeath you this task, for I know you will honor, protect and aide me as you once did when we were children. I write this letter, to ask for your help. As you read this, I have organized ferry for Vrathetu from Alvadas to Riverfall. Since leaving home, it has become obvious that the temperatures we face in Avanthal will not only be at a detriment to his health, but may possibly kill him. Please travel to Riverfall, and find Vrathetu on a ship destined to arrive on the 10th Day of Summer. Take him home, and tend to him brother, as the Drykas man you are. I know and trust you will look after him. I will be home....I will come home when this great journey is done. If the Gods claim me, trust you will know. Your Sister, Sariana Lisden. |
The letter had been shipped out four days ago, as soon as the drykas had finished talking with a rather persuasive and logical ethaefal. It had been awkward writing to Reodin, they hadn't really spoken before she had left. But the man was her eldest brother, and as children he had been her closest sibling. Sariana could only trust he would get her message, and come to Vrathetu's aide. The warrior only prayed that the letter reached Reodin before the horse reached Riverfall.
Standing on the dock, the blue eyed warrior stroked the almost white mane of the stallion as he nickered and snorted, brown eyes warily watching the water around them.
"I hate this, as much as you do." She said softly, swallowing the lump that threatened to form in her throat. Vrathetu nudged her arm and pawed the wood beneath his hooves, his ears flicking back and forth. Sariana took a deep breath and sighed.
"You will never survive in the snow and ice. I just can't do that to you. I shouldn't have brought you along in the first place. You know that, and I know that." Brown eyes met her own blue ones, and a silent understanding passed between them. The brunette nodded, tears forming of their own will. Cursing softly, she shook her head.
"I'll come for you, when all is said and done. In the meantime, make sure you show the other stallions who's boss and earn yourself a lot of pretty fillies." Smiling, she slapped his flank affectionately and moved to lead him onto the gangplank of the boat. Carefully, she walked him down below the deck into the cabin and stabled him. Turning to the stable boy, she lifted a silver miza and held it in front of his wide eyed face.
"Take good care of him, really good care of him. I will know if he is injured, or doesn't arrive safely in Riverfall." Pressing the coin into the boys hand she pulled him closer.
"I will know." The warrior whispered, standing straight and adjusting her holster slightly. Looking back at the strider, she touched her fingers to his muzzle.
"Reodin will come for you, in Riverfall. He will guide you home." With one last stroke, she left the stallion below deck, moving quickly lest she changed her mind. Exchanging coin with the Captain and some muttered words, the drykas found herself standing on the dock watching the boat as it pulled away.
She stood watching for some time, even as the boat become nothing but a small speck on the water. Then it was gone from sight, far out on the ocean and sailing towards Riverfall. And still she stood, and watched.
And prayed.
