23rd Day of Summer, 504 AV
Pacing up and down, Myraii glanced occasionally at the fledgling that stood on the other side of the aerie. The bird looked at her inquisitively, cocking its head to one side and following her movements with its eyes, turning its large head to keep up with her increasing pace.
At varying intervals Myraii stopped, lifting her head to stare into the birds eyes, beads of light brown staring back at her indignantly. No emotions could be felt from the Eagle, just a sense of anticipation and expectation. Her pacing had gone on for a good twenty minutes, the Eagle standing patiently, watching her the entire time, appearing almost to smile, it was obvious that the bird was yet unexperienced of the world, and perhaps naive.
Permission had been granted for Myraii to spend time alone with this particular Wind Eagle, taking a liking for her, although she was beginning to wonder why. It soon became apparent after the first few days spent alone with this bird, that she was slow witted, yet inquisitive.
The Eagle was a creature of immense beauty, her black feathers beginning to shift in colour to a shade of shimmering grey, with the tips of her wings showing a tint of red. This is what attracted Myraii to this one, and as she stared, she found herself feeling affection for the dim witted creature. She was indeed beautiful, and despite the sense of aggravation and annoyance she was beginning to feel over the creatures reluctance to respond, she smiled at the creatures innocence.
Myraii had now spent three weeks with the bird, showering it with affection, praise and care, with little progress. There was however some progress made. At first the bird would not allow Myraii to eat, shielding her kill from the fingers of Myraii, and effectively ignoring her completely, as if she were not there. Three days of starvation were endured by Myraii, before she finally gathered the courage to confront the creature and demand that she at least can eat. Shocked, the bird cocked her regal head, stepping back and allowing Myraii to feast on its kill.
It was after this that Myraii decided that firmness and the ability to stand your ground is what this bird respected, although since, it has had little effect on their relationship. She had come to the conclusion that this particular Eagle was stupid, no more could be said of the birds intellectual ability.
Reaching out with her mind for what seemed the thousandth time, she was again met with nothing, her hope - and temper - was beginning to wear thin. The bird cocked its head once more and gave a small flap of its giant wings, appearing to almost mock Myraii. Folding her arms across her breasts and scowling at the creature, she turned her back and found a comfortable place to lay down and catch some sleep. Tomorrow would be another day, and hopefully not as fruitless as the weeks preceding. With sleep starting to take hold, she heard the Eagle spread its wings and take flight, leaving her bheind to rest. Soon she drifted into a sleep filled with vivid dreams of soaring through the clouds as an Eagle, the rush of the wind and the feel of the air on her cheeks were all too real.
