![]() 1st Day of Summer, 512AV He washed his face in his basin. He looked in the water to see his reflection. If someone looked close enough into them they might could see that his current form hid something. A deep secret that the ones that lived around him kept secret. Who would they tell anyways? He walked over to his dresser picking out a nice cotton shirt to wear for work. This was his best attempt to try and blend in with the crowd and earn a steady income every season. After all, being a real animal wasn't exactly easy. In the woods and in the crowd. He found the softest cotton shirt then opened up another drawer to get his jerkin. He put it on tightly then strapped it up to it's proper look. He sat on his bed then sighed, running a hand through his hair. He closed both of the drawers then pulled out another one which held his pants. He put a pair on then walked over to strap his boots on. He made sure they were tight and fitting, not loose so that they bothered him. He looked at his face in the mirror making sure there wasn't any big stubble. Arcadius hated the stuff. Walking over to the leather limb and nest he made for his mockingbird he whistled to her. She instantly poked her head up and whistled the tune back "Good morning, Ren." she seemed happy to see him. She screeched at him then hopped onto his Jerkin climbing her way up to his shoulder. When he bought her, her wings were clipped so she couldn't fly. Arcadius combed his hair with Wren whistling the same tune in his ear. They would whistle with each other all day long while he worked. She enjoyed the scenery and cold weather. He would even let her play in the snow. He had shot a rabbit recently and skinned it for the leather. Now that it was ready, he was planning on making it into a set of boot straps. People were always in need of those. They got wore out fairly easily around here. Or at least he thought so. He grabbed his leatherworker's toolbelt remember how much it pained him paying for it. Seventy gold rimmed mizas for the tools. He hoped it got him very very far because frankly, he was broke. Left with only two gold mizas which couldn't buy him four decent meals. He'd have to hunt his brethren for food. It was practically cannibalism unless he ate plants and rabbit but then again the skin would make good leather as well and he couldn't just survive on plants for food to fuel his human body. It also required quite a bit of energy to shift. He grabbed his cloak off his dresser then put it on, adding another good layer of warmth. He eyed the bow and the arrows in the quiver hanging off the footboard of the bed. We shall practice soon, bow. he chuckled in his mind. He looked at the mockingbird on his shoulder "You sure you don't wanna stay in today?" The bird nuzzled her head against his cheek "Ok, ok." he walked out the door and he was instantly in his workshop. He hung up the extra blanket creating an awning of some sort. He pulled out the long rectangular table then sat down on the log stump. He went back inside and grabbed the rabbit hide from about the hearth. It was properly hardened now and he rubbed his thumb up and down the smooth feel of it as he walked back outside. He sat the rabbit hide on the table then pulled out his leather knife to begin cutting the appropriate shape and size that could be used for the boot. |
