Key Notes

Key Notes is the nickname oft given to the simple Musical Room within the halls of the renowned University of Zeltiva. It is not to be confused with the Performing Arts Studio, which is more often used for things such as singing, and acting. The Music Room alone, is simply for the study of instruments, seeing as it provides a long bed of dark wooden boards to play upon. The room is left largely open, with the only permanent fixtures being a glistening glass chandelier hanging from the ceiling, and two large windows which open to the eastern face; allowing a steady stream of light to play by every morning. Everything else that may be needed, such as musical stands and chairs, are brought in the room every morning, or left stacked up against the wall. For you see, this room tends to used for staff parties as well. Seeing as it is such a clean slate, it can often painted into anything the artist wishes.

NPCs :
ImageNiamh: Instructor
An Inartan woman with hair as fiery as her personality, few choose to take her on as an instructor. Having grown out of Wind Reach, where she felt her talents were being wasted, the woman chose to travel east soon after having turned 18. From there, she played her instruments across the world until stumbling upon Zeltiva, where she swiftly took up a job as one of the University professors. Since then, she has developed a reputation for having a short temper, and for smashing her own instruments into her student's fingers every time they don't hold a note out long enough, strike the wrong chord, or otherwise displease her. She is a woman known for showing up to her lessons early, and settling in to practice on her own. That way, when one walks in late, she can raise a single brow idly as she plays; keeping note of her student's demerits. When a student has reached three tardies, she will dismiss them, and refuse to teach until at least a quarter has passed. It is said that this may be one of the reasons she chooses to teach private lesses in thirty minute increments- for should she acquire too many pupils at once, she cannot keep her deep, blue eyes with grey flecks trained on every little movement, and thus, deal out the punishments she seems to favor.

ImageGwilym: Instructor
A man born and raised in Zeltiva, Gwilym has been known to match the tidings. With every ebb and flow of the waters that crash into the rocky shores; the sandy beach of his homeland, his mood, his very personality, is said to shift. It is for this reason that he has come to be known as a rather volatile, if not fickle man. However, unlike the sea, he is not prone to periods of tumultuous nature, and unlike his colleague, Niamh, he is not prone to any sort of violence, finding such things to be rather abhorrent. As for his methods, it tends to be dependent on his mood. Sometimes he is soft spoken, his tone almost melodic, as he kindly shows his students where to place their fingers and how to read more advanced sheets of music. At other times, he has been known to pace about the room, his hands folded behind his back as he studies the ceiling, giving little feedback. Sometimes, he has been known to simply stare out the window, looking at the sea, as though it were the only thing in the world. It is for this reason that he tends to teach best during times when he is not offering a formal lesson; say when someone comes in after class asking for an extra bit of advice or assistance, so as to make themselves better players.

Ixia: Instructor
A woman who grew up in Syliras under the influence of the knights; her father which was one, but rejected that path. It was in a private corner of the stronghold that she studied her arts; the sounds of music, as opposed to taking up life as a squire at her father's insistence. The art of war, the knowledge of how to defend against one's enemies, and wield weapons for both the range, and close combat was lost on her as she grew tired of hiding her true aspirations in this life, and soon traveled to Zeltiva when coming of age, taking up the mantle of a professor. It is there that she has grown to live and love; teaching what little she has known ever since. Many you see, do not consider her a true professor, for her art, they deem is too simplistic. But this deters her naught. For she is truly passionate about her craft; driving her very heart and soul into every class, every teaching, every student. Few leave her room uninspired, unwilling to learn. To strive to please her. For she brings a smile to each of their faces, warms each of their cooled hearts.

ImageAngelos: Instructor
After being thrust out of his homeland for proving to be volatile in nature, and considerably more violent than his peers, Angelos was sent to study under the Konti woman, in the hope that their calmer nature; their peaceful isle, may quell the storms held within. For a time, the move seemed to do nothing, but after many years of being surrounded by their endless maturity and grace, he too grew. It was then that he began to take up various arts of his own, things other than what the woman insisted on his knowing, and began to truly live. At times, his previous demeanor would well, coming to the surface, but it was soon quenched by the hands of a lady. After many years of being restrained, and brought under control, the women felt as though he were ready to move on. At first, Angelos did not want to go, considering the Isle his home, and each of the woman there a grandmother, mother, aunt or sister. But after a time, he saw the point in their urgings, in their whispered words. No matter how long he had lived among them, he did not belong, and thus, with his own gifted instrument in hand, he took the next ferry to Zeltiva, and made himself a home. As a professor, he is known to be calm and easy going, rather akin to the women he called his own. However, should he be hard pressed, or driven too far, he has been known to explode. Although, this is an increasingly rare occurrence, oft reserved for the most difficult pupils.

ImagePrah: Instructor
The only non-humanoid on the musical teaching staff, the mysterious Akvatari often finds herself feeling alone. Whether this would be any different with another of her kind around, given her melancholy, and generally reclusive nature, is difficult to say. Perhaps that is why she has grown so gifted however, seeing as she has no one to bother her, save her students, although they never do, she has more time to practice. To keep on thinking of her home in Abura, her lost family. Her lost hopes and dreams. The sorrow held in the life of an artist, generally unappreciated, as the strange and muddled bodies of her kind. As a professor, she is well known for making assignments and learning simple, in that she can always find another way to explain something should a student lack the ability to understand the first time around. She is known for being soft spoken, and even when she should be happy, or impressed, for having a far off look in her eyes.

ImageKahas: Instructor
An instructor who was never known to grace the sands of Eyktol, has chosen to live the entirety of his life in what some may consider the opposite of his natural homeland. His family having traveled for most of his life, Kahas has grown to know much of the world, to have seen large portions of it. But not a single land has stolen his heart the way Zeltiva did, making it a first choice of his, when it came to living arrangements. However, for a long time, he seemed to struggle finding a place where he fit in, having had no natural inclination for hunting, fishing, or sailing, or any of the other larger Zeltivan trades, it seemed as though he may have had to move, having lost most of his resources over time. Scrambling around looking for a job and a reasonable home. It was not until one of the University's professors heard him playing in the greens that he found his sanctuary. A safe haven for him to continue his life, and offer his teachings to those willing to learn. Although many may consider him lenient, he can be stern, in that if one does not show enough heart, they are forbidden from ever again entering his classroom.

ImageKayana: Instructor
Kayana is the only other Inarta on the musical teaching staff, and unlike her counterpart, she tends to simmer as opposed to consistently go up in flames. Where Niamh is harsh, Kayana is soft, like tempered steel. Molten lava, which pours over another's flesh, but oddly enough, tends to leave most of it unscathed. Her soft green eyes constantly roaming over flesh, fingers, marking their placement before making corrections. Noting the subtle sweeps; flicks of the wrist, so as best to teach her students, and yet, she lacks the gift for such things, although she is talented enough with her violin. Thus, many have come to suppose that the only reason she can maintain her job within the halls of the University is because she can keep a man's interest. Although, that doesn't mean she necessarily feels as though any of them can keep her attention. For more often than not, she is simply does not find them engaging.

ImageTessa:
Instructor
Tessa grew up on the Zeltivan city streets, performing her arts and selling her wares. It was not until she had reached her later teens that the University started noticing her. Sometimes going so far as to offer a few tips for a show before moving on. After a few more years had passed, and the institution had gone through a number of teachers, the staff came for her one day, offering a job. At first, the girl was reluctant, but soon took it in the hopes of obtaining a more consistent income. There she has remained to this very day, teaching as many as three private lessons between the time the sun has risen and then set once more. Blanketing the sky in darkness, and the light of the milky moon. As a professor, she has been known to be a bit eclectic, in that since she has largely taught herself, she is unable to teach in a traditional manner. Unable to read music, she simply shows her students how to play things that sound nice when strung together, expecting that they too, will simply grow to memorize sounds, and then perhaps, go on to create their own.

Thalia: Instructor
A woman born to the nobility of Zeltiva, Thalia grew up never truly understanding the hardships of life. She was faced only with the lap of luxury, given everything her heart could ever desire. The finest dinners prepared to her by a personal chef, horses and other pets, finely spun silk clothing, fancy jewels, makeup, toys as a child, and of course, a viola, as soon as she expressed interest in learning. At first, she was given private lessons at home, where her skills flourished, for although she can be prone to bouts of laziness due to her upbringing, she truly does push herself in the areas she is passionate, and excels. However, after about five years, her elderly teacher died of her age, driving her to continue her studies at the University, where she soon became her professor's prized pupil. It did not take the University long to pick her up as a staff member as she grew into her early twenties, and she has remained there ever since. Having grown well known for her poise, graze, and viola with an ornately carved belly which displays an intricate web of orchids and roses.

ImageBuford: Instructor
Buford is both a quiet and reserved man, leaving none to know a single thing about where he grew up or where he came from. Even Tessa, who has grown quite close to him over the years, and has even been fabled to be his on again, off again girlfriend could not so much as fathom a guess. The mystery and occasional rumor passed on the lips of various students and University staff alike do not trouble Buford however, who in some ways, almost seems to welcome the intrigue. Perhaps that is one of the reasons why he has acquired so many students over the years- they seek to learn more about him by spending more time in his presence, but to this day it has availed them nothing. The man is simply far too aloof to divulge his secrets, which oft carry into his teaching method. One in which he stands back and lets his students play; reserving judgment and any feedback until the final moments of their time together. Languages: Tukant, Common
