Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

How she had managed to put herself so completely out of her element, Cailet had no idea.

Seated in the seat farthest from the action, of course, the awkward woman sat stiffly on the stool, an untouched drink on the bar next to her elbow. When she first sat, the stools next to her had been occupied by a boisterous couple. Unnerved and unable to figure out why, they had quickly vacated the area, leaving Cailet with a wide semicircle of emptiness around her; even the dancers and those mingling had taken a few steps away.

Having left her staff at home, Cailet felt oddly naked, her hands unsure of what to do if not gripping the smooth, familiar wood. So instead she occupied herself with watching, her gaze flickering over the other revelers as they kept their distance, a small smile tugging at her lips as her gaze lingered on some of the more rambunctious pairs.

You should join them Her little companion squeaked from somewhere under the bar. The club was dark, though Cailet had no trouble seeing everything, though it wasn't always as awesome as it seemed. The glass of her untouched drink, for instance, was filthy and the deep shadows in every corner hid a number of disgusting things.

"I'd rather not." Leaning so that her back rested against the wall behind her, Cailet crossed her arms over her chest and kicked her feet up onto the stool in front of her. "This isn't really my scene."

Then why are you here?

"To try something different."

It isn't really 'trying' if you don't... well... try.

"Sure it is. I'm just..." But the sentence was left to float as something on the far side of the room made the woman sit upright again and rise completely from her stool. In one of the corners, a giant blue Akalak was wrestling with what seemed like a small human woman; he seemed to be having a good time, and yet the tears that streaked the woman's face told Cailet she felt otherwise.

Before she could even think through what she was doing, Cailet rose from her stool and stalked through the dancers towards the struggling pair. Having spent the majority of her adult life patrolling the streets of Lhavit, keeping order and preventing exactly what she saw happening now, the woman didn't think twice about stepping in the middle of it. "I don't think she likes that."

The Akalak's head whipped around and he growled, shoving the woman away and turning to face Cailet. It wasn't until the moment that the giant man towered over her that it really clicked that she wasn't in her city anymore. Things were different here. "Oh yeah?" The giant growled.

Cailet didn't even see the fist that knocked her to the ground, instantly putting her out.
