Glyciera is plain. She isn't muscular. Her frame is lean, but not malnourished-looking. Hair a dusty blond is usually tied back in a loose ponytail. Even her eyes are a dull greyish color.
Her clothes don't do anything to attract attention either. They are simply what she can afford, not expensive or fancy looking but not trashy enough to be noticeable.
The only thing out of the ordinary here is the expression of constant paranoia on her face. While she attempts to cover this under a mask of calm apathy, a close look reveals the obvious fear and anxiety within her eyes. Her eyes tend to be very shifty, always watching the people around her.

Who :
Glyciera, when she is playing Glyciera, is at best a nervous wreck. She is constantly bumping into things or people, watching everyone suspiciously, and apologizing for anything and everything. Now, this doesn't always make for the most interesting of characters, but lucky for us she has made an entire cast of personalities.

Why :
She was supposed to be an actress. Unfortunately it didn't matter how hard she tried, she wast absolutely terrible at acting. She had all but given up for a life of disappointment when she heard of a technique known as "method acting." Method acting typically involves a person immersing themselves entirely in a character and portraying them even when off stage. They essentially become the person they are to be and live as them prior to and during the time of the actual performance. Glyciera took this to heart, and to the extreme.
Instead of simply acting the part throughout daily life, she used hypnosis to literally become the character. She created and implanted thoughts, memories, emotions, wants, everything that made up this new person. While this may sound simple it was very, very far from it.

How :
oocIf someone more versed in the technicalities of hypnotism would like to correct me on any of this, please, Please do.
The Methods she used were long and complicated. First she would physically become the character by using costumes, makeup, and wigs. Her appearance would be altered to the point that she no longer recognized herself. The next step was to create the mind of the character. On a paper (often overflowing to two) she would have every trait and detail for the character written out. Placing this next to a mirror she would she would then put herself into a sort of half trance. This next part is hard to explain with mere words.

To hypnotize herself into this new character she would stare intently at the spot directly in the middle of her own reflection of the paper. Using her djed she would mentally merge the two together, combining the thoughts, feelings, memories, everything she had written down into the image of the person she faced. It had to be slow, one trait at a time, mentally merged, and then absorbed into her own mind. All the while she did this, she had to continuously chant two things.

The first was "Dala [Character name]" and the other was "Djas." Dala with the character name following can be considered her "trigger word" that caused her to go into character. Dala, in the ancient tongue, indicates "change," and was the word she chose as it wasn't something that was simply tossed around often and wouldn't cause an accidental triggering. Djas, also in ancient tongue, indicates "I" or "self." This was her trigger word to come out of character and was repeated every so often throughout the trance to keep her sense of self in the back of her mind. This measure was supposed to prevent any of her characters from overtaking her and to make sure that she always knew inside who she really was.

These trances often took several bells. She is no master in hypnotism, and so she had to take as much time and care as she could. When she finally came out of it, it would often leave her weak for days.

The catch :
Glyciera's methods and characters were in a word, unstable. She frequently overgave and made mistakes, and at this point she no longer has control of her characters. They now take over her at random, sometimes triggered by situations, sometimes when they just feel like it. One has even taken a permanent place inside of her mind.

While this would probably be a good reason to cut off the use of hypnotism altogether and find a way to prevent or stop the change in character from happening, Glyciera cannot make herself let go. She has become obsessive over them. While something inside her is absolutely terrified of the way she loses all sense of her actual self, at the same time a part of her relishes in the change, in the chance to be someone or something that she isn't, and to do things she herself would never do. And so she carries around a small pack full of her characters' essential disguise items, prepared and always trying to be aware of an approaching change.

The Unfortunate Alternative :
Mother was never pleased. She was a musician. Daddy was an artist. Daddy always said they would have an actress for a daughter. Their first daughter, Ditria, died when she was little. Daddy died soon after. Mother was left to settle for Glyciera. The baby girl. She taught her to be prim and proper, taught her manners, taught her "Yes Mam" and "No Mam." She was raised with the utmost strictness, dripping with the venom of resentment. Then, when Glyciera was old enough, she would teach her how to act.

The acting tutor came when she was twelve. The age her sister died... she will pick up where she left off. They started off simple. Voice exercises. Diction, volume, presence, stage voice. It all went well. Then it went into creating a character, writing down their background, their goals, the things that drove them, their mannerisms, everything it took to make them believable. She excelled. After that, the actual acting.
She couldn't do it.
"Mother please, I'm trying, I'm trying!" "It. Isn't. Hard. Glyciera. You're supposed to be. The Actress." Every word was accompanied by another smack of the paddle. The tutor would watch, pained, as the girl would come back, tears streaming, bruises and red marks clearly visible. "I gotta try again. Please, sir."

Trying :
He tried everything to teach her, every different style, category, method, in attempt to find just one she could do well. Improvisation, pantomiming, musical performance, poetry, comedy, dialogue, monologue. Nothing would work. Often times he would try to fill up the time by teaching her theatre history and technical details. But Mother saw this as a waste of time. "But madame, if I may, she can write, her characters are wonderful, she could go so far as a playwright?" "No daughter of mine is going to be a petching PLAYWRIGHT."

The tutor was sent away. Glyciera never saw him again. From then on, Mother would be the teacher.

Fourteen. A year and a half of failed attempts, disappointment, violent consequences. The healers who came to treat her mysteriously broken bones or sudden wounds were suspicious, but feared Mother too much to look into it.

Seventeen. Mother locked her up in the cellar. "You can come out when you can show me you can act." Glyciera was desperate. She couldn't take it anymore, the beatings, the days without more than a slice of bread. But no matter how hard she tried, she simply couldn't improve her acting. There must be another way...

Books :
Days were spent of wracking her brain with meditation and prayer. Mother wasn't a religious woman, so she didn't know who it was she was praying to, but she did it all the same. The cellar scared her. The dark room was littered with Daddy's old art supplies, boxes and barrels of who knows what, and of course, spiders.

There were book down their too. Granddad's books. Mother never talked about Grandad. She took to frantically searching through them for some clue of what she could do. Many were scholarly books that didn't help, details on the history of cities from far away, studies on plants, writings about "The Ancient Tongue." As much information as they contained, all of it was useless to her. Except for one.

It was her Granddad's own journal. He wrote a lot about something she had never heard of. He called it "djed." He talked of magic, of wizards, of the Gods. One topic in particular caught her attention. Hypnotism.

He said he experimented on people, exploring the abilities and limits of the practice. As she continued to read, something her tutor had once tried on her echoed through her mind. "we attempted to implant new thoughts..." "you must think the way the character thinks..." "... new memories..." "Use their past to influence your actions..." "... new emotions..." "Feel what they would be feeling in that situation..." "In a sense, our goal was to create an entirely different person." "This is called method acting, where you immerse yourself in an entirely different character."

I've found it.

The First Character :
Two bells were spent as she wrote down everything the tutor had once told her to write. She drew from the things she had heard, the things her mother constantly used against her in resentful comparison. The gaps were filled by her imagination. When she was satisfied, she looked back at the art supplies around her. One of the many technicalities the tutor had covered was costume and makeup design. "The appearance of a character is very important to portray their personality and situation.

Using different paints, powders, and dyes, she started. Her plain, bland hair was made a rich brown. Skin was made lighter, flaws covered up. A pair of old spectacles found among the books, and she was complete. Now came the hard part.

It wasn't working. Her djed wasn't strong enough. Tears pouring from her eyes she pushed herself further, trying to force the words from the page into her mind, doing everything she could to soak it all up. Suddenly it wasn't tears that were soaking into the paper, but blood. A gasp, and she panicked, pushing it from her and trying to run away. Her body, however, was too weak, and she fell to the ground. A strong headache overwhelmed her as she lay there, and everything went dark.

Ditria :
"Mother?"
"Oh save it, unless you can tell me you've sprouted some ounce of talent you shut up and get back to work, Glyciera."
"But Mother... I fear I am going to be late for my lessons."
"... D-Dit... Ditria?"
The door opened suddenly, light pouring in on a girl standing there, appearing around the age of twelve. Her eyes behind her spectacles were calm and intelligent. Her face set in an expression of bright curiosity. The dried blood running down from her eyes were obvious, but the Mother forced herself to be blind of it. She swept the girl up in her arms in a tight hug. "Oh, my dearest Ditria you've come home!"

ooc*Note: None of the "characters" actually initially have the skills that they believe themselves or that their personality indicates unless they earn it in thread. ie Raei may want Glyciera to steal everything in sight, but she likely won't get away with it without proper skill level.
Image
Ditria
Ditria is a "replication" of Glyciera's younger sister, who died at the age of twelve. This was Glyciera's first character. Unfortunately, as inexperienced as she was, this was the most unstable "creation." Ditria now has taken her place in a permanent place in her mind, no longer coming out as a character but remaining as a voice in her head. Her personality is that of a curious, innocent young child.

She is generally quite friendly and enjoys the usual mental conversations. She is still present when Glyciera goes into other characters, but usually tends to stay quiet, as they kind of scare her.

Image
Raei
This was Glyciera's second attempt, and was slightly less unsuccessful. The process of hypnosis never made the character "strong enough" to actually become an entire person after the actual performance (it took all effort to keep her during it), but she didn't end up like Ditria either. Instead she remains as subconscious, uncontrollable urges. As the character Raei was a thief, these usually come about as sudden urges to steal something, or even uncontrollable movements of her body toward such an end.

Her Attitude is one of mischief and rebellion, and while Glyciera often tries to get her to quit, she doesn't listen very well.

Image
Warrin
This character was the first male, and, ironically, the first successful character. Successful, of course meaning he is able to take over when he wishes to.
He has a very laid back, calm nature. His mouth is usually turned in a small smile. He finds people interesting and like to talk to them. He uses Glyciera's abilities in hypnotism, though only to give himself a more charming demeanor and persuade others to tell him about themselves.
Disguise: Cotton Doublet
Cotton pants
Voice lowered, sounds like a man though not a terribly masculine one
Hair slicked back in a tighter ponytail, although he has been known to go and get Glyciera's hair cut short.

Image
Vessaj
This is the only character Glyciera truly fears. Her latest, and most successful "creation," she is the most powerful. She has no morals, using and often abusing hypnosis to seduce others and use them for her own gains. She cannot be trusted and sees everyone around her as a potential pawn to use to get what she wants.

Vessaj is all to aware of her position as a mere character in the mind of a woman. Her greatest desire is to find a way to take over permanently.
