Saladar's Plotnotes - The Dream

Postby Saladar Ibn Basalom on August 11th, 2012, 3:32 am

"To Live in Service to Yahal is its own Salvation,
as to Die failing Him is its own Condemnation."

Short-Term Goals:

    1. Learn & Master the Martial Arts - Besides the mental training and disciplining that comes with it, Saladar wholly believes that the culturing of the spirit and the body in the art of warfare is the best conditioning for an apostolic life, particularly if he wants to remain safe and assured in his affairs throughout his travails. He tries to avoid violence and renounced needless aggression, but is aware of how abased people can be. There are also the many foul creatures that roam the realm, and for this he concludes such arts to be a necessity. He also acknowledges these arts to be gainful in more ways than one.

    2. Form a party/band of friends and/or a base of followers - The sincere wish to spread Yahal's Word and the Benshira legacy of the arts, trade and peace governs a lot of Saladar's decisions, intentions and actions in his day-to-day affairs. He believes that faith kept to the mind and the self is utterly worthless, and that after making realizations or epiphanies regarding matters of faith, one ought to let it manifest through social interaction with others. He knows that one lifetime is too short for a task so daunting, and so seeks the comfort of friends, like-minded Benshira, fellow religious folk (monks/ascetics/scholars) or just a companion to walk with him. He also wishes to pass on this wisdom (upon his attaining the fullness of it) to disciples, whom he desires to continue his work, toil and live, devoting their lives to Yahal, the Benshira people, and to building a religious base throughout the Eyktol through oral, written and if necessary, martial means.
Long-Term Goals:

    1. Establish an Official Religious System (Religion) for the Benshira in Devotion to Yahal - Although Yahal is considered the main deity of the Benshira, there appears to be no doctrine to make this official. What Saladar wants is, with its own order of monks and priests, is to establish a system of praise and worship between the desert people and Yahal, a covenant that will serve as a guide for the Benshira, and an anchor of faith and culture.

    2. Master Four Schools of the Occult Arts, Three Magical & One Scientific - Namely, Divination, Evocation, Conjuration and Alchemy. These are mainly to be used alongside the martial arts as a show of championship and power to reinforce the implementation of a new order, and to rally the simpler folk to a cause they will truly has some backbone to it. Aside from this, Saladar is also aware of Yabehah's distrust of magic, and proclaims it to be nothing more than petty ignorance. He wishes for boundless inquiry and a culture of logic, philosophy and science in the Name of Yahal, and not just a culture driven by sheer will of the people or plain preference. With the new faith, he says, must also come reason, freedom and the promise of progress and prosperity for the Benshira.

    3. Complete the Penita Scrolls and Finish the Penitentiaries - The hunger for enlightenment and complete wisdom and knowledge in the faith manifests itself in the ascetic's life through none other than his own life's work. The lack of content in the scrolls indicates strongly the possibility that more revelations simply wait to be tapped and realized, and upon its completion he intends to create a full system, a holy book of sorts to serve as a thorough, complete and comprehensive manual of the Penita Scrolls, combined with the history of the Benshira people, commentary on the text, background discussions on Yahal and the Eyktol, and of course guides for affairs that the common folk, lay followers and monastics alike may refer to.

    4. Become the Avatar of Yahal -The final goal is to embody the deity here in the world of mortals, and become a gateway for His power. To Saladar, it is the true and ultimate sacrifice, but one that will yield many more returns than it will cost. Detachment from all things, residing in the bliss of Yahal, these are the reasons he meditates and constantly toils in his work. Once and if achieved, his first goal will be to rally the Benshira, bestow upon them the gifts of Yahal and stamp down the superiority of the culture and the people all across the Eyktol, maybe even beyond.
"The Wandering Solstice"

I tread the path of Righteousness. Though it be paved with broken glass, I will walk it barefoot; though it cross rivers of fire, I will pass over them; though it wanders wide, the light of the desert sun guides my step. It is by my own karma and by my own hand that my salvation shall manifest.
