Physical Description Name: Torsten Iceglaze Race: Vantha Age: 20 Birthday: 53 spring 492 AV Gender: Male Height:5'10" Weight:170lbs at just over 5’10” Torston is not imposingly tall, however he readily makes up for this with a figure stripped of all childhood fat and replaced with thin, lean muscle from years of working with Icestone and the tough wood from trees that survive in the northern wastes Arvinthal is situated in. Torsten has dark, olive skin and the variable eye color of the Vantha, however his hair is pure white from an incident several years ago. Character Concept Torsten is a rather quiet introverted man while working, preferring to work alone, or with only one or two other people, however when he fancies a trip to the tavern or commons he does what every Vantha loves to do and that’s to spin elaborate tales about recent exploits and adventures. Those whom befriend torsten find that he is fiercely loyal and willing to do (almost) anything to help them out Torsten enjoys his work; he dives into his work with an almost ravenous obsession and dislikes needing to pause for trivial questions or idle comments. He does not rush however, but takes his time trying to perfect any building or carving projects to the best of his ability. Character History from an early age, Torston has had an affinity for stone (icestone in particular) and this affinity hasn’t wavered with age. He learned how to carve and sculpt from his father and the other workers in the crafting hall. After many years of learning and selling small trinkets, Torsten bought his own Arvinta and aspires to become a master carver and to make a name for himself he has a general distrust of reimancers and other users of Djed due to an accident that left his hair snow white. Because of this, he will not often visit the central room of The Smouldering Embrace and shies away from shops that sell reimancy items and training. Having lived in and explored primarily around Avanthal, Torsten hasn't had the luxury of learning more "exotic" languages and rarely converses outside of Vani except to speak to "foreigners". Each Arvinta consists of a communal meeting or sitting room. Then there are private rooms for couples, and a common sleeping/living room for all the children. Visitors are often given a private room, while a couple will move in with the children to make extra room. Some of the larger, more expansive Holds with wealthier families have spare rooms in their Arvinta or special guest quarters when people move from place to place visiting. Holds often have common areas and craft cottages in buildings attached and are always made of solid stone. External buildings are often built from ice and warmed from within by special braziers that conduct heat into the room but do not melt the thick ice walls. A Hold may contain multiple Arvintas and might hold upwards of a couple hundred people.
