52nd Day of Summer, 512 AV

"A heat wave, wonderful, as if today couldn't get worse," the young Kasi dropped a pair of books on the desk of the reception. "I don't see why I have to study what happened ages ago anyway, it's not like it matters now."

"There will be worse days," Kirna brushed a lock of deep red hair aside. A little sheen of sweat could even be seen on her brow. "Thank you for returning these. You may go." The Yasi nodded, running off. "Always so rough with the books," she muttered under her breath. "Kalin."

"I'm on it," the young man replied as he wandered over to the desk from the library itself. He picked up the two books, glancing at the covers. "The First Wind Eagles. Falconry Techniques. I'm glad I'm not in the Learning Gallery today. Anything else while I'm going?"

"An avora came asking if we had books on auristic basics?" She looked expectantly at him.

"Auristics?" Kalin thought for a moment. Kalin had become the resident expert on the magical section. Mainly because that was where he spent most of his time.

"She mentioned something about spotting the blemishes in her metalworking."

"That makes more sense," Kalin nodded. "I'll see what I can find. I know we have several on reading information from auras but I've never looked at learning the basics." Kalin turned away and stopped. "How about, if I make a catalogue of the information for future reference?"

"Of auristics?" She tilted her head at him in the same manner as their eagle brethren would.

"Of course not," Kalin looked back, grinning. "An index would be a better word maybe. I could search through the books and break them down in to a catalogue of various schools of magic. Even if it's just for my own use so I can help others." He turned back to her. "Give me a few days to work on a rough draft and I'll show you want I mean."

"Fine," she shook her head. Kalin knew if he pushed something enough, she'd give in eventually. Plus, it meant he could occupy his time vaguely researching magical techniques at work instead of just in his free time.

"Thank you," he bowed his head and strolled off in to the Library. A hand wiped the sweat from his brow, beneath his mess of brownish red hair. Golden eyes flicked from shelf to shelf as he meandered through the bookcases. There was an entire section devoted to writings on falconry. Kalin sharp eyes spied the space in the bookshelves. It was a few shelves out of reach.

He let his signature toothy grin spread across his face. It was always present, that niggling scratching in the back of his mind. Any time he thought about it, he could feel that intoxicating feeling of power. That he could shape the very air around him to his own will, was a freeing feeling. But he always remember that first and most important teaching. Never give in to those feelings for that territory was where overgiving lay, waiting.

He let out a long breath, holding the book before him. A ghostly greenish mist spread out from his hand, wrapping itself around the book. It began to spin faster and faster creating a vortex of wind that surrounded the book. The book began to soar upwards as Kalin watched. It spun to face its place in the bookshelf before being pushed in to place by the vortex of wind. Kalin dispersed the res, letting it blow outwards creating a cool breeze that spread mercifully throughout the Enclave.
