Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

Season of Fall, 2nd Day, 512 AV

Gizzy stands near the entrance of Artfire. She was hesitant to go in, afraid of... What AM I afraid of? She gathered up her courage, and barged right in, Ginger almost falling off her shoulder. She giggled.

"Sorry, Ginger. Are you alright?" The falcon nodded, obviously a little dizzy. She patted the bird's head and looked around. "Oooh, isn't it pretty, Ginger?" Ginger looked around also, and flapped her wings in pleasure.

Gizzy's face slowly faded into a frown. "Sorry you never got to see lots of pretty colors like this back in Wind Reach. I just couldn't stay." Gizzy hated thinking about her home. She had no good memories there.

She continued to walk through the shop, looking at the beautiful array of colors. One particular thing caught her eye. Well, not thing, more like someone. A human girl, around her age, looking at some glass beads. She was reluctant to approach the girl.

The Glass Smells Like Home!

They glistened and shimmered, like little treasures. Some glasswork was set on fine fabrics, lightened by the sunlight, some hung on string and glimmered proudly. It was certainly a sight to see, Caehli could not but help to ooh and aww audibly at said baubles.

Caehli wandered in on Artfire just to window shop really. She did not believe in trinkets really, they weren't something one could wear regularly. However something beckoned her in, perhaps a pull of Djed drew her to this place.

She was about to get bored and leave when something caught her eye. It was quite brilliant really, a small bead, it held the color of the ocean in the center then swirled into brilliant greens on the outside. It was so lovely she couldn't help but pick it up. Her breath held as though if she exhaled that her treasure would shatter.

"Pretty.." Was all she said as she held it in her palm flat.

Gizzy heard the girl say something. She wasn't really paying attention, but realized she should have been. She looked to Ginger. "Don't scare the girl, alright?"

The bird pouted but agreed. Gizzy walked closer to the girl and noticed the bead she was holding in her hands. It reminded her of the water in Wind Reach, a deep blue with greens of some kind swirled in between the waves.

"My mother had a similar bead to that one." The words just tumbled out of her mouth, like she was forced to speak. She was worried that the girl may become angry, or frightened by Ginger.

"My mother had a similar bead to that one"

The voice caught her attention and she turned toward the sound of it. There stood a girl with a bird on her shoulder. "Ah yes...it's very pretty no?..." Her eyes back on the bead "Sorta like the sea" she said fondly.

Caehli was interested of where the girl had come from. She hadn't heard her when she came into the shop.

"You like beads too? " she asked head tilted in curious fashion.

"Sorta like the sea," the girl had said. Yes, the sea... That is one thing that I truly have missed...
Gizzy sighed heavily. "Yes, there are many cliffs in Wind Reach that have magnificent views of the beautiful water..." Her birthday was coming up in about two weeks, and that would mean she hadn't been home in five years.
"If you want, I can buy that for you." She words just spilled out of her mouth. She had less of a filter than usual today. Even Ginger looked at her in surprise. She bit her lip.

This girl weaved a tapestry of Wind Reach. It was quite beautiful and Caehli could almost see it now. "How wonderful...I can't wait to see it myself then" she smiled warmly at the girl. Her head tilted in keen interest towards the stranger.

Her request of purchase warmed her soul. She like friendly strangers, it proved that people could be good without any gain or hidden agenda. Caehli nodded again "But only if you pick one out, that I can buy for you" She said firmly.

"What's your name friend?" she asked in curiosity.

"What's your name, friend?"
"Friend?"
"Friend?"
"Friend?"
Friend...? The word echoed in her ears. She had never heard someone say that to her, it was an unfamiliar sound, almost foreign.
Gizzy snapped out of it. "Oh, uh, my name's Gizzy, kind of strange, huh?"
Why did I say that? I just insulted myself! She scolded herself, and looked at Ginger, who wasn't paying attention whatsoever.
"Oh, and if you bought me a bead, that would just be like buying yourself one. I can buy them anytime, but I usually lose them."

The girl was silent for awhile, as if she was off in her own world. When she spoke again it was sorta jumbled.

"Oh, uh, my name's Gizzy, kind of strange, huh?"

Caehli perked her brow and smiled curious at the same time. "Not strange, just different...after all you and I are from different places and culture, we are bound to have so contrast I imagine." Caehli laughed heartily at this.
"My name is Caehli, it is certainly well met Gizzy!"

Gizzy seemed to fumble around with her words, nervous and flustered that Caehli could buy such a trinket for her.

"Isn't it the same vice versa? " She asked giggling delightfully "Besides I'm not buying it for myself I'm buying it for you. It's a gift!" she assured waving her hand nonsensically.
