SUNNY
Race: Kelvic Gender: Female Age: 2 Birthday: Fall 15, 510 A.V.
Physical Appearance
Human Form: Sunny is a slender young woman, appearing to be about 18-20 years of age. She has extremely long, soft and silky dark blonde-brown hair, and large, expressive, dark eyes. Her complexion may be naturally light, but she now has a healthy, glowing tan from being outdoors a lot in recent months. She moves with a good deal of grace, dexterity and seemingly boundless energy, though it sometimes appears rather undirected. Being generally a happy soul for most of her short life, she almost always wore a smile. More recently, with the loss of her first bondmate, she can look very wistful and dejected. Sad or joyful, though, her face can be quite animated when she is excited, which is often.
Animal Form: When she shifts, Sunny takes on the form of a mountain bred sight hound. She stands about 25” at the shoulder, and weighs around 60 lbs. Sunny’s coat is a thick, soft golden-brown, and the undercoat grows in quite heavy in cold weather. The length varies, with shorter, soft hair on the muzzle, the front of the head and forelegs. But her ears are covered with thick, long, curly hair that protects them from her own back feet as she runs. Thighs and shins are also covered with such longer hair, with shorter hair on the back and waist. She has a big, wedge shaped head with a wide nose, with slightly slanting, oval shaped brown eyes. Muscular, and strong, she still retains a light form and is built for both speed and endurance. The very tip of her tail is in a permanent curl.
Character Concept Sunny is a dog kelvic whose breed type makes her an excellent hunter. Her name is very descriptive of her character, though of late she is much subdued because of the disappearance of her first bond mate, a hunter of the Kitrean Mountains, outside of Alvadas.
Character History
Sunny was one of several offspring born to two kelvic parents, her mother being a rat and her father a large lurcher. Both of these were bonded to a tavern owner of Alvadas and spent their days helping him with his business, her father also helping to protect the premises at night. Sunny had several other kelvic siblings, who had moved on to their own bondmates here and there about the city as they each of them reached the age of one. The tavern owner encouraged this, as he had no need of any more servants. For the first year of her life, Sunny spent her days generally in the back rooms of the tavern, helping her parents with their tasks when she was old enough. As she herself reached the age of maturity, the tavern owner was approached by a regular customer who tracked fur bearing animals in the Kitrean Mountain range, and traded his pelts at the Bizarre. The man, Nello, had an interest in Sunny, as her animal type would come in very useful to him in his hunting endeavors. The tavern owner was happy to send Sunny off with Nello to see if she would work out well with him. Things did go well, and Sunny developed a deep loyalty for her bond mate and she greatly enjoyed being able to run at large and develop her hunting skills out in the mountains. Her breed type was perfect for handling the rugged terrain, and she soon learned to track and even bring down mountain goats, foxes, badgers, marmots, hares and deer. Although primarily a sight hound, she also relied on her hearing and scent as well. She was swift, persistent and independent. In her human form, Sunny not only helped with the skinning and curing of the pelts, but she also found many ways to keep Nello entertained through the long winter nights. For about six months, she was happy and busy and having the time of her life.
Sadly, the massive storm in the Spring of 512 A.V. resulted in the disappearance of Nello and the end of Sunny’s free wheeling new life. They happened to be in the City itself when the storm struck, and that was probably a very good thing, for there is no telling what might have become of Sunny if she had been outside the gates, in the mountains. But it was still no cake walk. And though she and Nello both survived the initial days and aftermath, taking cover underground as many did, somehow when they re-emerged, they became separated when one of the many monsters that had appeared came between them. He was there one moment and gone the next, and no matter how long and how skillfully she tracked him, she could find no trace of him. Despondent, she returned to the tavern, helped with the clean up and repairs, and sought some comfort from her parents.
For the past few months, she has continued to help out at the reopened tavern and tries to be optimistic that one day, hopefully soon, she will find another person, human or otherwise, who will take an interest in her and perhaps be able to see what a great partner and help mate she could be. She dreams of being found by a person who will once again take her out into the wilds to fulfill her real potential as a hunter. But, she also realizes that even being something more like a house pet, or even a guard dog, would be far better than simply being alone and unbonded.
