Wolfwood
The Orphan of Wing Chun

Image

Basic Information
Race: Kelvic
Birthday & Age : She's slightly unsure of her own birthday, and thus considers herself to have aged one more year at the beginning of each new year. Coincidentally, she is also unsure if she is three or four human year old, although considering that she spends a majority of her time as a wolf, when asked she will generally give an age between 21 and 28 canine-years (3-4 human years)
Gender: Female

Languages
Language 1: Common: Fluent
Language 2: Canine: Basic

Physical Description
Like all Kelvic, Wolfwood keeps many of her wolflike features in her human form. Most interestingly are the two slightly pointed bumps at the tops of each of her ears. Most of her teeth are also pointed slightly, all but the molars and grinders in the back of her mouth. Her canines (two slightly pointed front teeth set four teeth apart in the human mouth)are extremely elongated, nearly 3 centimeters long from tip to gum. Even when she smiles with her mouth closed the tips of the teeth can be seen poking out from behind her lips, thus giving her an almost vampiristic look. Her nose is pointed slightly and like her her wolf form she has a scar cut diagonally across her face, one going from the top of one cheek, across the nose and ending near her jaw on the other side. There is also a second similar scar starting on her jaw, and going across to her chin. Wolfwood's human eyes are bright blue, and can go from large round pupils to thin slits depending on her mood and the light level. Finally there is her hair, its a mix of dark blue, black and grey and rolls of her shoulders down her back in a mix of poorly groomed curls. The hair on top of her head is also odd, directly above her ear the hair sort of shoots up to a point, before rolling back down, giving her the illusion that she has large dog ears on top of her head. However, it is just an odd hair formation she's always had.

Her wolf form is pretty easily recognizable, and seen side by side with her human form it is very easy to see the similarities. Like her human form her wolf form has two cartilage filled pointed bumps on the top of each ear, they almost look like spikes and she's quite proud of them. Like her human form, her wolf form also has a pointed nose with a long scar across, and on her jaw a long scar can be seen as well. Her fur is a long curly mix of grey, dark blue, and black colors just like her human form hair. Other than that however, she is nearly impossible to tell the difference between her and any feral wolf.

Character Concept
Wolfwood is a bit odd for a Kelvic. Firstly, she prefers her human form above all others. Although, she does spend her nights hunting in her wolf form. She has all but mastered the art of hand to hand combat in human form, but can hardly hold a blade or bow to save her life. Her personality is obviously somewhat feral and wolflike. She just loves to see a good brawl, and can hardly hold herself from participating in one. Here's where she differs from most Kelvic. Although most Kelvic are loners, usually searching to be bound to master, Wolfwood, lacks that trait almost entirely. She still feels a definite longing to have a master of some kind, but usually fills that desire by doing favors, or quests for her acquaintances, a single master has never filled the void for her. She also likes her name she gave it to herself, and does her best to remember it even when she has at times been given another.

Wolfwood tries her best to be the 'good' guy. She has no major goal in life really, no plans for the future and really just lives day by day. Sleeping outside in her wolf form at nights, exploring the cities during the days, hunting when she's hungry, spending more time as a wolf when times are hard (since it generally means more food) even hunting as a pack, human or otherwise when loneliness should strike her. She is a free spirit at best, a renegade and pariah at worst, and really only has true care for a few things.

Wolfwood, truly cares about no one, but not necessarily in a bad way. If she see someone in trouble she'll help of course, but not so much as to go completely out of her way unless the cause is near to her heart, which it rarely is. She loves her name, its one of the few things she truly believes is hers, and hers alone and will defend it fiercely when necessary. She also loves her freedom, the ability to go anywhere, and be anything is a source of near endless enjoyment for her. Finally, she loves the odd necklace she wears, luckily its long and versatile enough to keep around her neck when she transforms. It's made of simple black leather and has a large tooth hanging from the tips, though from who or what the tooth came from she is unsure. It looks canine though. She's not quite sure where it came from, like a lot of things in her life, its just always been there.

There isn't much about the world she is truly against, although any poor treatment of her kind, she will always frown upon. She is also pretty much against any kind of mistreatment of an animal, kill them and eat them or let them go, but don't torture them.

Character History
Even for Wolfwood, her history is tough to track. What she knows is this. Her birthdate and where is unknown, she knows it was either near the end or beginning of the years 508 or 509 respectively. Her first memories take place in a wasteland type area at what could be a couple months, or a year old for her. At that time she was already alone. She recalls at least this much though. Her very first memory was in a cave, there was an odd abundance of dried meat and fruit, enough to live off of for roughly a month. There was nobody there to ration it to her, but she found she was somehow already rationing it off to herself, perhaps it was some wolf instinct or something, but the food lasted a while.

She grew pretty quickly, most likely this could be attributed to her constantly being in wolf form for the first few years of her life. One day though, perhaps because she was born in human form and thus simply had to have at one time or another changed into wolf form, she changed forms again back to a human. This would be the first time she'd changed and the first time she was attacked as well. She'd been traveling with a pack of obviously feral wolves, pretending to be one herself when all of a sudden ~poof~ or... well it was more of a ~flash~ and she was human in mere seconds.

Luckily she still had a lot of the smell of a wolf or more than two may have turned. Even more lucky that the pack was a rather small one, only six wolves including her former self. Best of all they had been running, she went from all fours to two legs and stopped. One wolf turned back immediately, another a moment afterwards sensing the lack of feet behind it and turned as well, luckily the rest were either too stupid, or too intent on moving to turn. Wolfwood, scared by her new form, and hoping the wolves would still see her as their own was slow to react as the nearest wolf lunged out at her. The powerful beast slammed into her taking her down to the ground. Its claws rose up, and sliced down towards her, but with a powerful show of speed and strength, Wolfwood somehow pulled her arms out from under her, catching the wolf's arms as they slammed down towards her. With just a bit of leverage, she bent one knee, and kicked backwards with it. This succeeded in flipping her over onto the wolf's side, with a quick twist she snapped the beasts neck and returned to her feet.

At this exact moment the other wolf rushed up, it growled and rose up onto its huanches, ready to strike. Wolfwood, feeling a sudden surge of confidence from the lucky attack on the other wolf, brought her arms up, ready to strike. The wolf went for her legs first though and Wolfwood dropped low to the ground, as her knees bent, and she dropped to her tips toes, the claws narrowly missed the cartilage in her feet. However, this beast knew how to fight something much bigger than it. The wolf immediately struck again, this time directly for her face. Wolfwood reeled back as blood splattered all around, two long cuts, bled profusely, both though, wer underneath her eyes and with a massive howl, She tackled the wolf. Her hands curled into deadly fists, as she rained punch after punch after punch at the wolf, ribs shattered, a leg, its skull bled next and finally... finally after what felt like hours, but could really only have been seconds, Wolfwood stopped. She let the now dead wolf slump to the ground and stood to her feet. Her eyes wide, and scared, she let out a blood-curdling scream. And then... oddly enough...

"Thank you for sparing my life..." She said, though in the language of grunts, barks and howls that only a canine could understand.

She has since spent her time in the wilderness mostly, although in human form. Hunting, gathering, living her life, its all been one big pleasure-fest, well until one more notable event that has altered her life heavily.

One day, while in human form Wolfwood found herself in a town, that she never cared to learn the name of. Back in one of the darker corners she found a building. Being naturally inquisitive, Wolfwood decided to enter. Obviously she was completely butt-ass naked. And apparently whoever was inside wasn't fond of it, because within seconds Wofwood found herself in the single most comfortable outfit she'd ever worn in her entire life. They called it a Ghee, and refused to say what material it was made out of. But whatever, all she knew was it was cute and almost as comfortbale as running around naked. Even better was that on the day they finally 'let' her take one away, she found it was just loose enough for her to transform without to much alteration. The first transformation destroyed that Ghee however... BUT the next day, when she came back for another, and again was 'allowed' to take it, she decided to make a few alterations. Ripping the neck a bit to make room for some fur, a rip near the butt, covered with a small flap off cloth she just tucked in a bit, to let her tail out. The pants were already loose and flexible enough as is, it was perfect, a suit she could move around in as a human or wolf.

Her curiosity however was insatiable, what were those people doing there with these amazing 'Ghee'? Well that was quickly answered witin the next few days. Upon her next visit instead of stealing- er... being 'allowed' to take another Ghee, she arrived in her modified Ghee and stayed to watch. It was a hand-to-hand combat center. People came in to simply beat each other up... it was pure bliss. This one event right here could very well have been the start of her infatuation with violence, though more likely its the reason for our next event, which finally catches us up to our current date.

After a few... well lets face it... weeks, she's a flighty chick. She left the the city, and that little odd fighters guild forever, however the basic moves she learned provided a basis for a new passion. Martial Arts, Hand-to-Hand combat, something she felt would suit her much better than any sort of clumsy sword.

Deep in the wilderness, Wolfwood has been training, teaching herself. Honing a deadly skill, a martial art quite similar to the ones she'd seen. She'd come to call it Wing Chun, a style built to attack and defend at the same time. She felt quite proud of herself.

And finally we are brought to the present, deep in some wilderness outside of some town, which she also may never actually find the name of.

Equipment and Possessions
Clothing: Slightly modified to fit extremely loosely Ghee. The Ghee is quite simply a white vest, fixed with loose-fitting, yet almost formal-looking sleeves. The bottom of the vest cuts off just above the waist. It also has a pair of extremely loose fitting pants, modified with a crude cut up the pant-legs to nearly the thigh. The shoes were impossible to modify and thus no longer exist (destroyed in both the first and second transformations) There is no belt.
1 waterskin that attaches around a loop made for a belt on the ghee with a small string.
1 roughskin backpack with enough food for a week. (Strips of sun-dried meat and fruit and two loaves of bread.
1 small eating knife (quite dull now, she used it to 'modify her ghee)
Flint and Steel (she has no clue what they're used for, but unlike the toiletries, she kept them since the steel was shiny and the flint looked sharp.)
Family Heirloom: Necklace adorned with what is possibly a large canine-Kelvic tooth. She assumes it must have belonged to her mother, and found that it was tangled up in her fur in her Wolf form one day. Since then it has hung around her neck in both forms.

Hello there! I'm Torchlight, your friendly local Character Sheet Liaison. I'm here to help you get your CS sorted out and ready to go for roleplaying! There are just a couple of things I'd like to help you with. Don't worry! We'll get your character operational asap.

This is a great character. Everything here is very well written and I can see a lot of effort has gone into her background and personality. The pictures are adorable too. I really want to see this character in action, but there are some things that need adjusting first!

Let's go in order of appearance to make it easy. :)

  • Age
Although Wolfwood does not know her own birthday or age, you still have to list it as OOC information here in your CS, mostly for clerical purposes. I know it's fun making it kind of obscure! There ARE a few ways to discreetly display your age without making it readily visible to everyone. Here are a few ways you can do that.

    Race: Kelvic
    Gender: Female
Birthday & Age: Unknown to her.
    Secret Birthdate :
    Winter 53rd, 508 AV

    Or maybe...

    Race: Kelvic
Birthday & Age: Unknown to her. Mouseover for Secret BirthdateWinter 53rd, 508 AV
    Gender: Female

Many players might even choose not to peer at your secret birthdate, as it's a lot more fun to find out through roleplay what a character's secrets are.

Another thing too is that it's a common misconception that canines age 7x faster than humans. Larger dog breeds age faster than smaller breeds, as an example. There's no "dog years" or "human years" in Mizahar. A Kelvic that is 2 years old is 2 years old, plain and simple. It just so happens that a Kelvic is an adult by then.
  • Languages
All Kelvics speak their own animal's language fluently, alongside ANOTHER language of your choice (usually Common). In this way, Kelvics sort of get TWO fluent languages to speak, and up to two more at Basic and Poor. Your languages should instead look like this.

    Common - Fluent
    Wolf - Fluent
    [Language] - Basic
    [Language] - Poor

Remember, you can start with just Common and Wolf if you like, but you can still pick two more if you want!
  • Physical Description
There are no vampires in Mizahar, so the use of the word "vampiristic" is sadly not appropriate for a character sheet description. However! There is a race called the Symenestra, who are infamous for having a pair of fangs (much like vampires!), much like Wolfwood does. So consider replacing "vampiristic" with "Symenstra-like", for a more fitting, Mizahar-friendly comparison. The Symenestra are even believed by some to be blood drinkers, and are largely hated/feared, so the appeal is pretty much the same!

Also, while your character's fur/hair can be a bluish or dark shade of gray, "dark blue" is not a naturally occurring color in wolves. The other colors are fine, but please remove "dark blue" or switch it for another color.
  • Concept
"She has all but mastered the art of hand to hand combat in human form..."

This would be a tad inaccurate, as you can only start with a maximum of 30 in any given skill, putting you in the "Competent" range. Next comes Expert at 51, and then Master at 76. If you could reword this into something a little more realistic, like, "She is adept at the art of hand to hand combat in human form, but..." that would be just marvelous. :)

Bear in mind, too, that with less than 26 in Martial Arts/Unarmed Combat, you are technically a beginner.
  • History
"She grew pretty quickly, most likely this could be attributed to her constantly being in wolf form for the first few years of her life."

It's important to note that a Kelvic ages at the same rate no matter what form she is in, human, wolf, or otherwise.

Also, a Kelvic can only speak its animal language while in its animal form. This is because wolf communication isn't so much a literal "language" as it is a complex pattern of behaviors and vocalizations that express what the animal is thinking and feeling, understood by other animals of the same general species. While in human form, Wolfwood cannot speak "Wolf".

By "ghee", I assume you meant "Gi" or "Gee", which is a type of loose clothing worn by some Martial Artists (ghee is actually a name for something edible called "clarified butter"). Gi does not exist in Mizahar, although you are free to describe loose fitting clothing of a similar style. Gi is a cultural element from the real world that does not have an equivalent in Mizahar.

The same goes for Wing Chun--this does not exist in our fantasy world. Martial Arts styles developed in the real world, like Tae Bo and Jujitsu, don't exist in Mizahar (Mizahar has its own cultures and its own original traditions). You can still talk about specializing in punching or kicking combat, and if you would like to develop your own fighting style, you can draw up an idea and submit it to the Help Desk as long as it's original!
  • Skills
Martial arts should be replaced with the Miz definition, Unarmed Combat. Unarmed Combat includes styles similar to martial arts, as well as boxing and kicking-type attacks. It's a broad category.

Also, please spell out for us which of your skills are from the Starting Package, and which are from your Racial Bonus! It helps us later when you turn in threads for grading, and we can see what you started out with vs. where you are now. Here's an example of how to list your skills and label their origins.

    Hunting: 16 (10 RB, 6 SP)
    Unarmed Combat: 15 (15 SP)
    Escape Artist: 5 (5 SP)
    Meditation: 7 (7 SP)
    Tracking: 7 (7 SP)

It looks a little redundant now, but when you earn more skill points later, it'll make a lot more sense!

Also, you still have 10 more skill points to spend! Remember that you start with 50 Starting Package points, PLUS your Racial Bonus (which for Kelvics is 10 Hunting).
  • Lores
You still get to pick two lores for your PC to start with! Remember that a Lore is a point of useful knowledge that can't be improved upon (unlike a skill). In Wolfwood's case, this might be something like: Traveling with a Wolf Pack, or Forgotten Birthday.
  • Housing
Does your PC have any housing? A tent or perhaps a home? You wrote that your PC prefers to sleep on the streets, so maybe she has no home! Remember, if you choose to give up housing, you can take 500 extra GM instead! This gives you a total of 600 starting GM, if you also add your initial 100.
  • Equipment and Possessions
Remember to replace "ghee" with regular linen clothing. You can still give up the shoes if you want to. You can also describe this clothing as loose fitting and slightly ripped to accommodate both forms.
  • Signature
Mizahar has a size restriction on signature pictures. While that picture of a wolf is gorgeous, it's sadly too large to be used as a signature picture. The current size is 471x300. The max size for signatures is 600x150. You might consider re-sizing the image or artistically cropping it. Since you have the image in your CS, we still get to see the full-size version!

I believe that's it! If you need any help making these changes, PLEASE send me a PM and I will gladly work with you to get your character all set and ready to roleplay! Once all these items are addressed, I will remove this note from your CS.

Good luck!

When it's pitch dark, remember that pitch is flammable.
