Uhh last I heard, about 18 dead in NYC. Mostly due to falling trees. Over 100 houses went down in flames. Lost power Monday night, came back Tuesday night around 10:30. Didn't bother to leave because we had no where else to go and it really beats sitting in a car in flooded streets so...this was what it looked like outside our window.
Hai Sandy!The water did get somewhat higher, flooded the parking lot. Destroyed countless decks, totaled a car that was near the ocean, tossed an AC on someone's roof, ripped someone's garage door off, among other things.
And I got hit in the face with sea water on a drive back from the store (the streets flooded on our way back) and it was...one of the nastiest things I've tasted. -.-;;
As of now we've got rain. Lower Manhattan has no power and a few other places in Queens, Brooklyn lack it as well. There are still people being rescued in...Long Island I think.
And the "famous" boardwalk from Jersey Shore is missing a chunk of it which is now adrift in the sea.
They said this broke a record of reaching four feet or something.
