Memorial Cemetery

For nearly two long seasons following the Spring Djed Storm of 512 workers, through weather, heart ache, and residual storms worked meticulously upon the hill overlooking Zeltiva to the West. From their effort sprang a beacon visible from anywhere in the city. A large stone construct, resembling an elegantly carved gazebo fashioned of white stone, large enough to house hundreds of men and women. Aesthetically perched, along side a collection of other beauties crafted by these same men and women within the cemetery, including striking statues of those lost, sturdy mausoleums for the influential of the past, and adornments to the markers that already stood.

Before this the cemetery had gone mostly uncelebrated, and widely unrecognized by the citizens and transients of Zeltiva. Rarely visited by those that had not lost loved ones who slumbered upon the looming hillside.

On the first of Summer, 512 Maria Satterthwite planned for that all to change. As one of the sites invested in by her 512 Storm Reconstruction project Maria publicly called every citizen in Zeltiva, from every walk of life, to attend a ceremony to bless the construction's completion. Courier ran man around the city, bringing letters to those more prestigious, criers yelling the announcement in the street, and Maria even stepping out from her hall to invite the populace to walk with her to the cemetery once the day had finally come.

Proudly upon the peak of the cemetery, within the giant temple she gave a touching speech in which she rose the Nuit Spiritist Guardians of Zeltiva's Cemetery to the esteemed title of "Envoyers [of The Dead]," and inspired the city to leave the sorrows of the storm to rest.

To read this touching scene, and several character's impactful response to the event, visit [Event] Maria Satterthwite Memorial Cemetery. Well worth the read.

Now that the Cemetery has aged past its construction, vines and other expertly placed foliage can be found growing tall around small plots of family graves and private crypts. The feeling of the cemetery is predominately private, reverent, and sensual. Ghosts, working closely with the Nuit Envoyers are not uncommon there, and Spiritist find a welcoming studio to practice their art under the protective watch of the Envoyers in this domain. Note that vandalism, violation of spirits, or unlawful appropriation of the deceased will be met with strict objection by the Envoyers, likely leading to an unmarked grave for you and any accomplices you might have.

Lastly, within the temple visible over the entire cemetery lay set into the black marble flooring a dark as night pond taking up half of the temple's inner sanctum. Within this pitch pool swims dozens of koi within water which naturally flows in from the stream the temple was built upon. Since its presentation to the general populace it has been common for those that wish to honor the lost or dead to carry a large koi from the city, up the winding steps of the hillside and deposit the koi into the water after speaking the name of that which they have lost. This ritual has soothed many grieving hearts, and is believed to help that witch was lost to find a suitable place for it to continue peacefully on its natural path.
