A Tour Guide on the Small Side (Naira)

Postby Sliver on November 20th, 2012, 5:54 am

Truth be told Sliver wasn't quite as confidant at fending off the bladed weapon as she portrayed, but you weren't always going to fight other people with their hands, better to get some experience in this relatively safe environment then in the field.

She moved. The bear was fast, she'd give her that. The blade came up and Sliver began to turn to the side, realizing a bit too late that the bear was faking her out. Exactly how Naira managed to get around her and jab the butt of her sword Sliver couldn't be sure, but suddenly she was on her face on the ground.

She may have been fooled once, but she wasn't going to let this fall become an extreme disadvantage. As the bear went to bring her foot down upon her back she rolled out of the way, leaping up and sending a punch towards her rib cage.

A Tour Guide on the Small Side (Naira)

For a second, Naira was cocky. It'd working! She could really, maybe do this! But then, Sliver turned. Naira tried backing away, eyes widening in shock. "Shit," she managed, before getting a nice one to the stomach. "Oof," she choked out, doubling over. Her eyes squeezed shut, and for a second again she found herself feeling no hope. She told herself silently, get up Naira. You're doing good, it's okay. You're bound to get hit.
She wanted to scream, "but that really really hurt!" and she'd always known that it would have. Sliver was a well build and structured wolverine, and by appearances you would have thought their animal counterparts to be the other way around. She backed up a bit more, and then put her left foot foward, and with the right she kicked at Sliver's stomach. She very much wished this would work, and that she'd be able to use the but of her knife, again, to hit her in someplace. Preferrably hard between her neck and shoulder.

A Tour Guide on the Small Side (Naira)

Postby Sliver on November 21st, 2012, 4:36 am

Sliver was torn. Part of her wondered if she should go easy on the new recruit. While Naira's skill with a sword may not have been up to par with her un-armed skills it didn't mean that she wouldn't eventually master her weapon, or perhaps several other forms, why shake her confidence so early through the gate?

On the other hand this thought was entirely too ridiculous for the wolverine to comprehend. Go easy on her? What would that teach this bear? Eyrwen wasn't going to go easy on the new recruit, the reality of her new job wouldn't be easier to bear just because she was nice for one training session. No, Sliver realized, that just wasn't her style.

She watched Naira's expression at the hit, body poised to respond to the inevitable counter-attack. She was unsure of herself. Perhaps it was because of her own intimidating figure, or mayhaps the bear lacked a fundamental self confidence she had thought genetically inherent of the massive species. Whatever it was, her combat showed it. Her kick was solid, but predictable. Sliver grabbed her foot and shoved it away, forearm coming up to block the but of the blade that came in towards her collar bone.

"What are you doing, bear?"

Her tone was accusatory, mocking, and a sly gleam crept into mahogany eyes as she circled around her opponent, always facing her.

"I've seen squirrels hit harder. You're a bear, I'm a weasel, but I feel like you're scared. Come on, where's the rage? The strength? You're just playing with me. I want a FIGHT."

Sliver had slowly been backing up away form Naira as she spoke, circling ever outward. Now she sprinted forward full tilt. She slid down on the smooth surface of the arena, aiming for a vicious slide tackle on the bear's left foot, feeling the pain of the surface creating friction against bare skin. She was curious as to how Naira would respond to her taunts.

A Tour Guide on the Small Side (Naira)

The pushing and shoving, and blocking caused her to stop for a breath. She was starting to become frustrated. She began hissing, eyes narrowing, brows furrowing, her shoulders raising and her teeth gritting. She glared at Sliver as she taunted her, listening to every word. And, with every word, her anger grew. She forgot that this wasn't a ral fight. She forgot that, she needed to control herself. That thinking was a priority. But at that moment, she felt that instinct was best. She nearly forgot she had a bear counterpart she had to worry about. At the very least, Naira managed not to change.
"What am I doing!?" she seemed to snarl. "What am I doing!?" at this point her free hand was squeezing itself so hard her nails had punctured her own skin, and she was bleeding a bit on her palm. The hand holding the sword chucked it back(thankfully in a direction where there wasn't anyone to harm within four yards.) She had watched the female spiral, and was getting tired of it. Finally, her bear was beginning to show.
"Sliver, shut up!" she growled, loud and gutteral, reaching out with the bleeding hand to grab the female by the shoulder, and with the other to punch her square in the face. It appeared it would hit, though she wasn't thinking. Oddly enough, her posture was really good.

A Tour Guide on the Small Side (Naira)

Postby Sliver on November 21st, 2012, 5:45 am

The wolverine was socked square in the nose. A slow trickle of blood crept down her face, dribbling onto lips that split apart in a cat-like grin. She had been worried that this meek little thing that had followed around, sometimes vacant, other times dizzy with glee, wasn't a true bear. Now, however, she realized she was quite mistaken. She stance she held, the way her head whipped back and forth with frustration and an eagerness to drop her opponent, these were familiar traits, and Sliver was more than pleased despite the pain that radiated through her face.

Now THAT'S a bear if I've ever seen one..."

She grabbed onto Naira's shoulder in turn, yanking her body forward in order to deliver a violent and jerking knee to her gut unless she was unable to break free of her grasp.

"...But I might have kept the sword."

While the smile lessened, it hung on her features, enjoying the heat of the fight. Perhaps this feeling was always lingering just beneath the Kelvic's skin, waiting for an opportunity to escape like this one. Sliver never truly grew tired of fighting, it was always a sort of natural test for any even slightly predatory animal. You had to prove your worth, to beat down your opponent and show your superiority, or be taught your place, and the necessity of the cycle as well as the simple brutality of it had always sat well with her.

A Tour Guide on the Small Side (Naira)

Naira made a fun, happy go lucky yet violent laugh that sounded like a cackle. Probably the reason she didn't get very into fights, was because she went crazy. Absolutely nuts. She laughed at pain, whether it was hers or not. Seeing the blood on Sliver's face almost made Naira hungry, and saliva began to produce in her mouth. She had licked her lips, and became proud when Sliver spoke. Bear if she'd ever seen one? Aha, she sure knew her and the other Kelvic would get along fine if that's how things were. All of a sudden, she felt free to show her true, crazed colors.
Though she felt the knee, it all seemed so very distant. She was grinning, teeth shining, eyes glinting. As the knee hit her stomach, she lost a lot of her breath, but since the feeling felt as though it wasn't there(though she knew she'd feel it later), she managed to get her arms around the leg that had been brought up to make contact with her. If she got the good grip she'd been planning on, this was when she would jerk back the Kelvic trying to land her on the ground, so Naira could pin her. Though chances were very slim, she was determined, and her feet were firm against the ground and she felt invinsible.

A Tour Guide on the Small Side (Naira)

The wolverine was a bit taken aback by the ferocity the bear brought to the table. She seemed almost...insane? The sound of her laugh brought chills to Sliver's spine. Vaguely she wondered if this was the effect such a meek personality had on one's mind when you were a ferocious animal, the effect of releasing it was a sort of maniacal explosion of emotions. Sliver wondered how volatile this creature really was, and if other bears of the watch were truly like this when released.

Grabbing her leg, the expected response, when one gave their opponent an appendage, it seemed only right that they take advantage of the inherent weakness. The bear jerked her leg, it was a hard powerful wrenching action, one that revealed the true strength behind the relatively thin Kelvic she was fighting, While Sliver was helpless to free her leg, she was prepared for the attack itself, and refused to just be thrown on the ground.

Instead when Naira jerked, Sliver let herself be pulled, pushing off the ground with the opposite and free foot, and putting all her effort into a kick that wound land squarely on Naira's jar. The bear would be left with a decision, let go of Sliver's foot in order to dodge the blow, or take the full power of the kick in order to continue holding her leg.

A Tour Guide on the Small Side (Naira)

It felt like the whole thing was in all, a fluid motion they'd planned. A dance move. Naira pulling back on her leg, the beautiful way Sliver was prepared and managed to push and kick. Like they'd planned it. Sure, Naira's face had a shooting pain through it, tears had sprung into her eyes, and of course she already felt a bruise forming. But for some reason, she couldn't let go. She held on tighter, now, and then did something strange.
Holding the leg that was Sliver's, she quickly moved to face it's side. Her left hand grabbed the wolverine's foot, the other on her thigh. Naira would seem to shove the knee up into Sliver's own chest, or face. Whichever it seemed to land. By now the strange insanity had seemed to simmer down, Naira being aware of herself now. Despite not having time to think, she was still a bit embarrassed Sliver had to see that.
Though she didn't let it ruin her fighting style. She was excited.

She was surprised her opponent held her leg through the attack, and her shock showed in the way that she was helpless to respond to Naira's next attack. Leg pushed upward toward her chest, the wolverine was thrown helplessly off balance and toppled to the ground, rolling to the side and lunging up swiftly in order to prepare for any follow up attack.

She was breathing heavily, and glad to see the initial rage of the dire polar bear had calmed, Sliver was unsure of what she would do if the girl had become so enraged that she transformed into her true form.

She stood gauging her opponent, dark eyes wary, feet rotating slowly beneath her, feeling the surface below. She took in a deep inhalation, feeling the blood pumping like the beat of the steadiest drum through her veins.

She came in at the bear again, this time slow and controlled, she aimed a jab, all fingers pointed outward for Naira's collarbone. It was an easily deflected blow, but her real aim was to bring her right foot down upon Naira's right foot, to distract and pain so she could come in for a more damaging move.

Now just standing there, Naira was unprepared and not shocked for the blow. She was sure excited, but that didn't change the fact that taking and giving blows wasn't a normal thing for her. She was tired. But seeing the other Kelvic was obviously not finished, she decided that she would fight back.
She felt the sting in her left collarbone, which sent her whole left side into panic. Her left arm was brought up to grab Sliver's elbow very quickly. Shock was sent through her right side, too-- Sliver had now got on her foot. She hissed, in obvious discomfort. She decided to lunge foward to grab the other arm foward too, and yank down. Her arms began to feel like led, and her recent raging tired her out. She noted that she needed self control.
