Walking the East

512, 81st day, 22nd chime.

‘The winter season is practically at our door step’ He thought to himself as he walked through East Street, his Rapier at his side while the shield he carried symbolized his membership as part of the Wave Guard. Over the Azure uniform he wore. The Militiaman took his duties seriously despite that a good portion of the Wave Guard knew nothing of actual combat and had no skills other than knowing how to swim. The feeling of the air caressed his face and swept through his body, causing chills to run down his spine ‘Definitely at our doorstep’ He sighed, with the cold weather about he would need to purchase a new coat…. A new coat would eat through his money, he didn’t quite have enough on him but pay day was around the corner and with paying his rent he should have about enough for the remainder of the upcoming season to buy food and clothing and perhaps for items he doesn’t necessarily need but could uplift boredom ‘Perhaps a training dummy? Goodness knows I need that’ But such thoughts were a distraction at the moment.

East Street, the shady part of Zeltiva, prostitution was the main attraction to such a disgrace to society ‘I have to admit, the ladies aren’t a bad view’ such a chivalrous man…. But after that came gambling establishments which threatened to suck the money right out of you. While its not to blame entirely, gambling had the effect of making people lose the entirety of their Nilos or Mizas quite fast, making them as poor as a doorknob if they couldn’t miraculously pay their debts in time before they lose everything. Such things bred criminals; pickpocketing thieves or muggers, any who are looking for profit at the cost of another’s misfortunes. And perhaps there are other things that would merit such behavior, perhaps these establishments sold some ‘illegal’ substances, alcohols and stimulus perhaps ‘I doubt the alcohol part, the Kelp Bar would be closed down then…’ He remembered that substance, it was an….. Occasional... drink whenever he was stationed at the docks. The docks were another rowdy place at times, since a good portion of those who are there are outsiders or simply those who’ve been out at sea for far too long.

Those particular groups made up the many visitors who were at East Street, looking for a fun time before they had to leave for more pressing matters, whatever that may be. As he strolled, he glanced at the various call girls leaning on the walls or standing at the entrances of various establishments. To say they were…enticing… was an understatement. Their various clothing revealed much of their…attributes…so to speak. As he walked past them he could see some independent prostitutes wearing equally revealing clothing, one in particular called out to him. She stood at a corner, her eyes as enticing as her body. She had a sultry smile on her face, her chest in um….respectable proportions.

“Say, luv, you mind helping me out with something?” She said in a tone that Zivilist couldn’t quite decide if it were seductive or not.

“er, sorry ma’am, I’m afraid I don’t have the time”

“It’s just a little question~” She said in what definitely sounded like a seductive tone, she walked towards the flustered guard, her motions made sure she showed off as much of herself as she can “Certainly a respectable member of the Wave Guard wouldn’t deny help to a citizen in need?”

Zivilist groaned internally, it took him all his willpower to not stare at her cleaveage and focus on her face, which only had that damn smile and sultry gaze “M-miss, I-I’m sorry but I cannot possibly… I-I must finish my patrol” In truth he didn’t, his shift ended HOURS ago, this patrol was simply of his own accord. Of course, this didn’t stop the um…lady, as she kept croser, so close her chest was touching his ‘OH dear gods why do this to me?! It wasn’t that long since I last beded a woman’ It was two years ago…. No excuse. Of course, while she was seducing the poor, Zivilist felt an uncomfortable bulge in his pants ‘Waaaaait, why do I feel it on the right side of my waist?’ it made no sense for him to feel it THERE instead of the middle. Looking at his side he saw a slender hand reaching into it, he looked back at the prostitute, pulling her hand out of his pocket and grasping tightly.

“oh bugger, found me out didn’t you?” She said to him, looking less sultry but still enticing.

‘Push those thoughts away Gott, you don’t have time for this’ He thought then as he furrowed his brow and looked firmly at the prostitutes eyes “ Miss, I’m sorry but pickpocketing is grounds for throwing you out of the city. I must ask that you come with me!”

“Wh-what?! No, I won’t come with you”

“Ma’am, there is no ground for negotiations, you attempted to steal from a member of Zeltiva’s Wave Guard. I must uphold the law!”

“Screw your law! I have mouths to feed, I won’t leave them!” Tears began to form in her eyes as he tried to yank her hand free from Zivilist’s grip.

“Ma’am, please stop resisting, you will only make things worse for yourself” He said, he didn’t quite know what to do ‘mouths to feed, Children?’ Was she telling the truth? Or was she just a skilled liar and her tears were simply forced. Soon she stopped struggling and dropped to her knees, a piece of folded paper dropped from… well, wherever she could have hidden it was there for Zivilist’s eyes to see. Letting go of her hand he bent down and picked it up and unfolded it ‘whats this?’ it was a crude drawing, a childes drawing, as cliché as it could get it was a child holding her mothers hand and a kitten standing next to them.

“Give that back, its not yours you scum!” She shouted at him

Weather it was a lie or not, it pulled at his heartstrings ‘I can’t, it would go against my duty.’ His mind told him, but his heart spoke a different tone ‘She could be lying, she could have prepared for this’ but he had no way of knowing if she did. He placed the paper back into her hands and dug his hand deep into his pocket, pulling out a few Nilos, five to be exact and placed it into her hand “Here, the next one won’t be so lenient however…. Please, find a different profession or at least stop picking pockets” He said to her and quietly walked away. He needed time to collect himself…..

Notes: You capitalize very odd things... like Azure and Rapier. Also this thread is dreadfully short, but I won't get on your case since it was actually pretty telling of the Wave Guard.
