Built into the cliffs overlooking the Suvan Sea, Riverfall resides on the edge of grasslands of Cyphrus where the Bluevein River plunges off the plain and cascades down to the inland sea below. Home of the Akalak, Riverfall is a self-supporting city populated by devoted warriors. [Riverfall Codex]

3rd day of winter 512 av

Treccho wanted a place to practice his craft, while flying just above the crowds he spotted an empty public bench facing the river. He gently landed on the bench facing the river and set his belongings on the ground next to him. The area wasn't quiet, it was full of busy Akalak's having loud conversations with one another but Treccho didn't mind and found it calming just hearing the sound of the rushing water down the river.

He reached into his bag and pulled out a few long leaves of kelp he had gathered a few hours ago and his medium sized crochet hook. He wrapped the thick kelp strand around his fingers to start the magic circle technique which was great for crocheting in the round. He chained 6 stitches into the loose circle and then condensed it into a smaller fairly symmetrical circle. He periodically weaved new leaves of kelp as he did his first row of increasing. After 5 rows of increasing he had ran out of kelp and needed to go get more.

He looked up from his work and found that he was being stared at from across the river. He wasn't sure if they were simply interested in what he was doing, or if they had never seen an Akvatari before. he packed up his things and flew towards the gates. he wished he could just fly in and out of the city with out going through the gates but he knew it would be rude not to.

Crafting by the River

Treccho passed through the gates giving a quick greeting to the gate gaurds and headed towards the ocean. He dove down the cliff and towards the shore. He barried his belongings in the sand all except his spear which he brought for harvesting the kelp and for protection.

he entered the water close to shore and surveyed the area. He couldn't see any kelp in the area and swam out farther.
It didn't take him long to spot some kelp, it does grow like weeds after all. He loved the look of kelp as it softly drifts in the water something almost elegant about it. He harvest a couple stalks of kelp and headed towards shore.
Treccho shot out of the water and flew around a bit to dry himself off when he landed he noticed the kelp was still wet so he shook it off before putting it in his bag.

He was wondering if he should get some kind of filling in case he decided to make a doll, the only thing that came to mind was rocks. He giggled to himself thinking of how funny it would be to use a doll as a weapon. he still wouldn't have anything for the body so he decided to make that for another day.

Crafting by the River

When he got back to Riverfell he went through the gate and back to his regular spot. He took a moment to think about what he was actually going to make. He came to the conclusion that a basket while a boring project would probably be more likely to sell in this area. He thought he could try the basket weave stitch, he wasn't sure it would work given his choice of materials but he though it was worth a try.
He flew to his previous location and took out his work and went to work. Alternating between chaining four double crochet through the front posts and four double crochet through the back posts for a few rows and then switched the order. He continued doing this until he had a full basket built up. The Weave stitch hadn't shown up too well but he was confident that it was due to the materials and not his skill level.
He was going to make an typical handle but decided to make it an arm with a hand on the other end just to make it more unique. The hand ended up being a bit more abstract than he intended the sea weed had added an extra challenge but it was clearly not the only reason. He though he should practice a bit with more practical materials.
He put the project in his usual bag and flew to the market for better supplies.
