Physical Apperance Durvekral stands at 6'3" and wears a pallow, sunken, despondent mask-like face. More often than not, he can be seen wearing his eggplant shaded leather armor. The dark purple leather is stained in various places with a vaguely lighter shade of [byzantium] purple. The disparate shades over strategic places such as the collar, elbow pads, knee pads and gloves help him to camouflage into the background shapes in the night. The armor features a wide belt strapped diagonally from the left shoulder toward the right hip. This belt is designed with 5 square compartments, these are mostly filled with utility items such as rope or extra poisons. The leather has various ridges and grooves in the exterior surface but these are very small and are not carved into any design whatsoever. They merely exist to enhance the camouflage. There is a hood on the outfit but it is rarely, if ever drawn. When Durvekral must work, however, the hood is drawn and his mask his worn. The mask is the same shade of byzantium purple as the patches throughout his armor. There is no mouth carved into the mask, instead a sizable mesh patch allows for nose or mouth breathing. The patch extends from ear to ear and from chin to below his eyes. The rest of the mask is solid leather broken only for the eye holes which display his uncaring, distant eyes. Character Concept Durverkal is not a loner but he's not lonely, either. At the same time that Durvekral acknowledges the need for a healthy relationship, he doesn't want to develop that relationship with any of his fellow Mizaharians. Although he knows that he would be healthier with someone to trust, he doesn't feel that anyone actually living on Mizahar deserves that trust. Durvekral is a vulnerable, scared and severely isolated Symenestra. It also bears mentioning wants to become a determined assassin who will relentlessly pursue his mark until that mark lies dead in the street. Durvekral secretly desires to live in a world where he could laugh during the day and sleep easy at night. Unfortunately, he doesn't believe that he lives in this world. Durvekral is a vulnerable, scared and severely isolated Symenestra. His weakness does not come from an inability to act, it comes from a refusal to trust anyone. His weakness comes from nearly paranoia and massive social insecurities. His identity is the namesake of his father's spirit of isolation and distrust. He didn't gift his son with an elegant name to help him lure females for the harvest. He didn't want his son getting caught up in such unimportant things. Durvekral's father never felt any special loyalty toward his race or his community. Therefore, he thought that trying to attract a foreign female would bring too much hassle and too much danger for his son to worry about. An ugly, gutteral, name such as "Durvekral" would help to guarantee the solitude that his father's mind felt was so important. After leaving Kalinor, Durvekral immediately went to the city of Alvadas. He doesn't view the city of illusions as deceitful or beguiling. Actually, he views it as the most honest place on Mizahar. Where all of the other cities (most disgustingly Zeltiva and Syliras) project airs of civility and safety, Alvadas is up front in its shifting, sneaking demeanor. For a Symenestra who sees everything and everyone a potential conspirator, Alvadas is refreshingly transparent. According to Durvekral, no city on Mizahar is safe but at least Alvadas has the decency not to hide the fact that its trying to ruin your plans. Character History Durvekral's father loved him as any father should love a child but Durvekral was raised by a strong spirit of heartbreak and distrust. He taught Durvekral paranoia and loneliness. Durvekral's mother was an Estarian, she was part of the movement to abolish practice of the harvests. She predictably died shortly after Durvekral's birth. It would be innacurate and unfair to say that Durvekral's father blamed the child. His anger was, instead, directed toward his wife for having demanded a child in the first place and for her position on the harvest. He had always felt that she had abandoned him. This left him reeling in the loneliness and insecurity with which he would raise Durvekral. As a boy, Durvekral's father manipulated his emotions to the point of causing him to kill his best friend and to completely abandon his childhood crush. This was the beginning and the confirmation of Durvekral's life as a distant, paranoid wanderer. Most of Durvekral's story is yet to be written. For now, he finds himself in Alvadas. |
